    1404260 Garments with endless waist bands A KOVES 15 Aug 1973 [18 Aug 1972] 38581/73 Heading A3V A garment comprises an endless waist portion 18 of stretchable fabric contoured to the general shape of the waist area of an intended wearer, a continuous waist band 11 at least partly exposed and located on the inside of the waist portion 18 such band being formed entirely of a strip of foundation garment material e.g. spandex which is cut and joined so as to conform biaxially to the waist portion, a second continuous band 21 of resilient material which is narrower than the waist band 11 and has a substantially cylindrical shape, and at least one row of stretchable stitches 17 securing the bands to the waist portion 18. The waist portion 18 may be formed of a biaxially stretchable Jersey material and is folded inwardly to provide an inner band 20. The second band 21 may be an elastic ribbon or may be formed of rubber. The relative positions of the waist band 11, second band 21 and inner band 20 may be interchanged and the stitches 17, either a single row of chain stitching or a pair of interlinked parallel rows as shown, may be hidden as in Fig. 2 or exposed on the outside of the waist portion 18. The waist construction is applicable to neither garments such as skirts, slacks, trousers or shorts or to upper garments such as shirts, blouses or sweaters.
