A medium to record light with a spatial modulation pattern comprises a plastic substrate layer, a thin, smooth, glossy, hard inert coating layer free of macroscopic and microscopic imperfections overlying the substrate layer, a light reflecting layer thereover and a top light absorbtive layer. Accordingly a coating of acrylic latex, epoxy paint without pigment, dichromated gelatin, or various synthetic varnishes, underlies the reflecting layer and is found to improve the effective quality of the substrate surface. Various organic dyes may comprise the light absorptive layer. A thermal barrier layer of silica may be applied between the surface- improving layer and the reflective layer.

The invention relates to the accumulation of information and relates to recording media.
Known recording medium containing a photosensitive layer placed on a polymer base 1.
The known recording medium has a relatively simple construction, but it does not provide a sufficiently high recording density.
Also known is a recording medium containing a light-absorbing layer placed with the possibility of absorbing the energy of a laser beam between a light-reflecting film and a transparent layer, and a polymeric disk base 2.
This recording medium allows for a relatively high recording density. The disadvantage of such a recording medium is a significant write error.
The purpose of the invention is to reduce the recording error.
This is achieved in that an additional layer is inserted in the record carrier placed between a light-reflecting film made of aluminum, rhodium or gold, and a polymer disk base consisting of acrylic latex, epoxy paint, gelatin dichromate, polyurethane varnish, alkyd varnish and polymers having the possibility of curing under the action of light, and the transparent layer is made of silicone resin.
The drawing schematically shows the proposed recording medium, one of the possible options.
The recording medium contains a light-absorbing layer 1 arranged to absorb the energy of a laser beam between the light reflecting film 2 and the transparent layer 3 made of silicone resin.
The proposed recording medium also contains an additional layer 4 placed between the light reflecting film 2 and the polymeric disk base 5 and consisting of acrylic latex, epoxy paint, gelatin dichromate, polyurethane varnish, alkyd varnish and polymers that can be cured under the action of light. In this case, the retroreflective film 2 is ejected, for example, from aluminum. The reflective film 2 can also be made of rhodium or gold. The recording on the proposed recording medium is effected by acting on it with a modulated laser beam. The laser beam acts on the light-absorbing layer 1, forming on it successively, a number of depressions in accordance with the recorded signal. During reproduction, the proposed recording medium is affected by a modulated laser beam, which, when reflected from it, changes in accordance with the result of the recording. The use of the invention makes it possible to significantly reduce the recording error.
