1535090 Telescopic pipe couplings HYDROTECH INTERNATIONAL Inc 14 May 1976 [10 June 1975] 20034/76 Heading F2G A pipe coupling for mutually telescoping tubular members 12 and 4 comprises a plurality of serrated gripping elements 8 which are radially movable to grip and bite into the outer surface of tubular member 12 by relative movement of surfaces 14 and 16 on thrust member 18 and cam member 22 respectively. As shown in Fig. 1 gripping elements 8 are retained against surfaces 14 and 16 by means of shear pins 34. On tightening nuts 52 axial movement of thrust member 18 occurs via annular piston 40 and annular sealing rings 54. The axial movement of thrust member 18 and hence surface 14 causes shearing of pins 34 and radially inward movement of cams 6 and hence surface 16. Gripping elements 8 are thus urged radially against pipe 12 by thrust member 18 and cams 6. The outer serrated surface of thrust member 18 bites into the interior surface 38 of tubular member 4. Locking member 62 screwed to annular piston 40 prevents relative movement of tubular members 4 and 12. one The invention relates to the construction of spacecraft, namely to devices for locking pipes, and can be used for locking telescopic tubular elements against relative axial movement. A device is known for locking pipes installed one into another and forming an annular cavity in which a set of sealing rings with a piston and an outlet element l are located. This device does not prevent mutual movement of the pipes. It is also known a device for locking pipes installed one into another and forming an annular cavity in which a set of ear rings with a wound is located, an arm element and inserts 2. However, this device does not prevent mutual movement of the pipes. The proposed device differs from the known one in that an additional conical surface facing the piston is made on the injector element and a conical surface directed from the piston on the liner. Such constructive performance prevents the mutual movement of pipes. The drawing shows the described device in section. The device for locking the tube consists of pipes 1 and 2 installed 0 one to the other and forming a cavity 3 in which a set of sealing rings 4 with a piston 5, a clamping element 6 and an insert 7 is located, with the clamping element running on an additional conical surface 6 facing the piston, and on the conical surface 9, directed from the piston. The device works for stopper0 or pipes in the following manner. Before installing the pipe 1 in the pipe 2 on the pipe 1 is installed. the piston 5, the liner 7, the clamping element 6, and the landing is a set of sealing koles 4.
