In addn. to the normal constituents in a soda-lime-silica glass, the compsn. contains (by wt.) 0.2-4.0% Fe3O2, 0-0.9 % Na2SeO3, 0-0.05% Co2O3, 0-0.5% Ni2O3, NaCl and 0.2-5.0 % KNO3. The use of a higher amt. of NaCl produces a colour stabilising effect. Both blooming and changes in transparency due to solarisation are reduced, and glass of the same colour can be consistently reproduced.

This invention relates to ultraviolet and infrared ray absorbers for the eyes.
Known glass that absorbs UV radiation, of the following composition, weight. %: SiOs 49; PbO 45; NaaO 5; Su 2 2.
However, this glass does not protect against ICT radiation.
The closest to the technical essence and the achieved result of the present invention is a coloring additive for glass, comprising: mole: ZrOs. one; ResO4 0.2-0.3; NaF 0.5-0.7; NaCl 0.1 - 0.2; RNO3 or NH4NO3 0.1-0.2.
However, glasses containing such an additive do not protect against UV and IR radiation.
The aim of the invention is to obtain a sun glass that absorbs ultraviolet and infrared rays.
For this, a known coloring additive for glass including ResO4, NaCl, KNOs additionally contains CojOa or NijOa in the following ratio of components, wt.% / O:

or NiiOs3.05-7.41
NaCl Else.
It is advisable to introduce such an additive in 5 alkaline-lime silicate glass.
A sun glass containing this additive changes its color from yellow brown to pink and has a good color rendering and color stabilizing effect.
The table shows the specific composition of the proposed dye additive.
FIG. Figure 1 shows the transmission curves of glass samples (sample thickness 2 mm), annealed at different temperatures (490 ° C, 510 ° C, 530 ° C, 560 ° C); in fig. 2 -
15 curves, characterizing the higher color stability of the sun glass containing the proposed additive (curves on the right) in relation to UV irradiation; in fig. 3 - improved reproducibility 20 colors on glass with a coloring additive.
The lower curves characterize glass obtained in a reducing atmosphere, while the upper curves characterize glass obtained in an oxidizing atmosphere. FIG. 1-3, the light transmission curves for glasses containing a small addition of NaCl as an illuminator are given on the left, and the light transmission curves for glasses containing the proposed coloring additive are given on the right. Irradiation was performed with a 200 W high pressure mercury lamp for 48 hours. At the same time, the light transmission curve has a significant deviation in the red region of the spectrum compared to the nonradiated, having a smaller additive, in the formula of the invention

NaCl Else. The le, containing the proposed additive, this phenomenon is almost not observed. Improved color reproducibility was observed in glass with a dye additive (see Fig. 3). The lower curves refer to glass obtained in a reducing atmosphere, and the upper curves to glass obtained in an oxidizing one. Glass with the proposed additive, as can be seen from the graphs, has a protective effect against UV and IR radiation.
