A pair of cleat forming wheels are journalled within a frame on each side of the packing chamber of an extruding type slab forming machine, to produce shear keyway recesses in the side walls of the slab as it is formed. The wheels are connected together for rotation in the same direction by an idler gear or chain sprocket connection. The teeth on the rear or following wheel are slightly smaller than the teeth on the leading or forming wheel so that the teeth on the rear wheel finish off the forming of the recesses without damaging same. Automatic self-alignment of the teeth of the rear wheel with the recesses is provided by an adjustable slip clutch between the rear wheel and the drive connection from the leading wheel.

The device consists of a self-propelled frame 1 with a loading 1 1 block 2, under which is placed a single chamber 3. On the self-propelled frame 1 there are fixed vibrators. In the side walls of the frame 1 there are symmetrical windows 4 to which grooves are attached, each of which is made in V1 and ducts 5 in which gears 6 and 7 connected in pairs by a synchronizing gear are placed, one of which (wheel 6) forms keyways, and another (wheel 7) - calibrates. The synchronizing gear of gears b and 7 can be made in the form of gears 8 and 9 interconnected by intermediate gear 10 or chain, sprockets 11 and 12 of which are fixed on wheels b and 7 and are connected to each other by a chain 13. Calibrating gear wheel 7 can be equipped with a safety friction clutch 14. The device operates as follows l. The concrete mixture from the hopper 1 under the action of its own weight enters the forming chamber, 3. In the chamber under the action of vibrators and augers (conventionally not shown in the drawing) the mixture is molded and compacted. Due to the reactive force generated by the augers of the concrete mixture, the extruder moves in the opposite direction, leaving behind a molded concrete strip. Unvibrated backs of the core and upper plate smooth down the molded surfaces of the product. The pressing pressure on the concrete mix is determined by the frictional forces that occur between the concrete and the moving extrusion extrusion bodies, as well as the resistance to movement of the machine itself.
