In order to shape individual bristles, bristle bundles or an entire set of bristles and, at the same time to round the ends of the bristles on the side used in an effective and even manner, provision is made for the bristles to be clamped at a distance from their ends on the side used lying in a flat plane, for their ends on the side used to be rounded mechanically or chemically, subsequently to be released from the clamping and then to be shaped against the negative mould. Furthermore, an apparatus for carrying out this method is described.

A method of making bristle products from synthetic yarns consists in that bundle 1 (three bundles are shown in FIGS. 1-9) of long, parallel one other synthetic filaments is fed to guide 1 with channels 3 and flaps 4. Simultaneously with supply of bundle 1 to guide 2 it is conducted through a clamping device 5 with a pusher 6 and channels 7 located in the cut-off zone from the bundle 1 of the individual bundle. The working ends of the beams are given a certain shape by axial displacement of the threads of the piece with the working ends from the additional guide in the form 16. An apparatus for carrying out this method comprises a guide 2 for feeding endless bundles 1 of filaments with channels 3 according to the number of bundles 1, a cutting mechanism 10 for separating the bundles from the bundles, means for holding the bundles when fixing their non-working ends in the bristle holder, a clamping device 5 located in p d with a guide 2 in the direction of the harness supply, means 11 for processing the working ends of the threads with rotational drive, a mechanism for shaping the working end of the bundles, containing the shape 16 with blind holes 17 according to the number tufts and a base 18c with pistons 19 mounted with the possibility of axial movement in the channels 13 and acting on the non-working ends of the bundles up to the stop of their working ends into the bottom of the openings 17 of the mold 16.
The device has an additional guide 12 for placing the non-working ends of the beams and means for translating the beams in the channels 13 in the form of a plate 15 for placing their ends flush with the ends 20 of the clamping device 5 and the additional guide 12. The latter has the channels 13 according to the number of harnesses 1. The number of pistons 19 the base 18 corresponds to the number of channels 13 of the additional guide 12. The pistons 19 have different lengths corresponding to the path of beam movement in the channel 3 of the guide 2. The clamping device 5 is located in a row with n 2 ruler in the feeding direction harness 1 and the cutting mechanism 10 - front clamping device 5, means 11 for processing the working end is located in front of the clamping device 5 with respect to the feeding direction of the harness. The base 18 with the pistons 19 and the additional guide 12 are mounted in a row behind the clamping device 5 and the mold 16 to obtain the length of the non-working ends of the beams needed to secure them in the bristle carrier. A knife 21 is provided for trimming the dead ends.
The yarn bundle is indicated by the numeral 22. To obtain the final length of the bundle 22, an expansion plate 23 is additionally provided between the clamping device 5 and the mold 16. With the open clamping device 5, the tufts 22 move in the direction of their end on the working side, while the holder 18 with pistons 19 and the mold 16, with the fixed clamping device 5 of the additional guide 12, moves synchronously (Fig. 7) to the right. By this, a gap is formed between the clamping device 5 and the mold 16, into which the spacer plate 23 enters. It has grooves, for example splines or the like, through which the bundles of threads pass. After re-clamping beams using the pusher 6 in the clamping device 5 is cut off by their knife 21.
Then the spacer plate 23 emerges from the gap between the clamping device 5 and the mold 16 (FIG. 18). The mold 16 moves in the direction of the jig 5 until it is bumped against it. Bundles of threads with ends 24 on the fixation side protrude above the cutting plate 14 to the same length (Fig. 9). In this position, the ends 24 are connected to a bristle holder (not shown) in a known manner.
FIG. 10-14, a separate tuft of bristles 25 is shown on the basis of three separate bristles 26 lying in the plane of the drawing. The pre-cut and tucked bristles 26 (Fig. 10) are first clamped and trimmed at the ends 27 in the form of rounding (Fig. 11). The individual bristles 26 contour when they are moved in the guide channel by means of the contoured piston, so that, for example, the middle bristle 26 (the greater number of bristles in the middle of the bundle 25) protrudes its end 28 above the rest of the bristles (Fig. 12). The dashed line in FIG. 12 shows a cut to form the ends from the securing side 29, and at 30, 31, different lengths of sections obtained by cutting.
After contouring, the bristles 26 in the bundle 25 are fixed, melted into a thickening 32 (Fig. 13). The next work operation
this thickening is fixed inside the bristle holder 33, for example, by injection, foaming or insertion (Fig. 14).
FIG. 15 shows a toothbrush 34, the back side 36 of which, made integral with the handle 35, is made of plastic. It has tufts of bristles i 37 and 38 of various lengths, the ends of which from working sides 39, 40 respectively lie in the contoured envelope surface and in turn are contoured. The ends of the bristles 37 and 38 are similar to those described in FIG. 13, 14 and can be fixed by means of bulges 41, 42, respectively, on the back side 36 of the toothbrush 34.
FIG. 16 shows a circular brush 43 used to care for teeth and with the help of an axial support 44 mounted on a drive shaft (not shown). The round brush 43 has an outer bristle crown of tufts 45, which are contoured at the ends on the working side 46, and an inner bristle crown of tufts 47, which are contoured at the ends of the working side 48.

1. A method of making bristle products from synthetic yarns by feeding a bundle of parallel one another with lengthy synthetic yarns into a guide, cutting off a separate bundle of yarns from the bundle and fixing the non-working ends of the bundle in the bristle holder, in order to improve the quality of the resulting products simultaneously by feeding the tow to the guide, it is guided through a jig located in the cutting zone, and before the bundle is cut, the jig is moved from the cut zone along the length of the bundle to form the working ends of the filaments, and fixing the non-working end of the beam in the clamping device, after which the filaments are rounded off at the working end of the beam by mechanical action of the thread of the beam symmetrically or by chemical action, then the beams are placed in an additional guide with by aligning the working ends of the pieces, give the working ends of the beams a certain shape by axially displacing the filaments of the bundle with the working ends from the additional guide to the shape estimating translates outside ends, whereafter the dummy fixing operation ends in bristle strands and removed form, releasing the working ends of the tufts.
