    This invention provides pyridyliminomethylbenzene derivatives and acid-addition salts thereof, said derivatives being compounds of general formula: <CHEM> wherein X is hydrogen, cyano, ethynyl, optionally-substituted alkyl, optionally-substituted alkoxy, cycloalkyl, alkenyloxy, alkynyloxy, haloaryloxy, alkoxyaryloxy, aralkyloxy, haloaralkyloxy, alkoxyaralkyloxy, optionally-substituted alkylthio, cycloalkylthio, alkenylthio, alkynylthio, arylthio, haloarylthio, alkoxyarylthio, aralkylthio, or a group of formula: <CHEM> wherein R<1> and R<2> are independently selected from hydrogen and optionally-substituted alkyl, or R<1> and R<2> together with the interjacent nitrogen atom from a heterocyclic ring of from 5 to 7 ring atoms, one of which ring atoms may be a further heteroatom selected from nitrogen, oxygen and sulphur m is 0, 1 or 2; Y is hydrogen or alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, halo, nitro, aryloxy, haloaryloxy, cyano or alkoxycarbonyl; n is 0, 1 or 2; and Z is an alkyl, alkoxy or halo moiety. Such compounds have been shown to posses fungicidal properties. The invention also provides methods of preparing such compouds; fungicidal compositions containing them and their use. There are also provided intermediates for making the compounds wherein a halogen atom is present in place of X in formula I.

    The invention relates to agriculture and can be used to combat powdery mildew on barley.
    The purpose of the invention is an effort of a fungicidal action.
    Example: Barley plants were grown in plastic pots using sterile compost. Infection of barley powdery mildew pathogen Erysiphe graminis Eg. carried out at the stage of the first sheet. Infection of plants was carried out by leaf pollination with conidi of the indicated pathogen of the disease.
    24 hours after infection, the shoots were sprayed with the proposed fungicides. For the treatment, fungicides of the general formula were used.

    A dose of 0.1 0.5 and 1.0 kg / ha.
    As a prototype used the known fungicide - trifemorph (2,6-dimethyl-4-tridecylmorpholine).
    Data on the fungicidal activity of the proposed and known fungicides are presented in the table.
    From the presented data it is clear that the proposed fungicide is active in the fight against powdery mildew on barley. The optimal dose of the proposed fungicide to combat powdery mildew is a dose of 0 kg / ha.
    Thus, the proposed method proved to be effective for the control of powdery mildew on barley.
