The aim of the invention is to increase efficiency by eliminating phase separation along the height of the column during stops. The multistage column consists of a vertical body 1, in the upper part of which there are inlet 2 for a liquid with a large specific gravity and outlet 3 for a liquid with a lower specific weight, and in the lower part - outlet 4 for a liquid with a higher specific gravity and inlet 5 for fluids with a lower specific gravity of bus 1, there is a centrally mounted shaft 6, on which, one above the other and at an equal distance from each other, are mounted disk agitators 7, which are driven by the motor 8. Shaft 6 and engine 8 are attached to a lifting cylinder 10, which, in turn, is suspended from the ceiling 1. When the shaft with disc agitators is stopped, the entrances and exits of the column are closed, the disk agitators and the stator discs are shifted relative to each other, the cross section of the column is repeatedly blocked by means of sealing devices and separate chambers are formed along the column height. Thus, when the column is stopped, the separation of both liquid phases occurs only within the closed chambers and the established equilibrium, with respect to the concentration gradient in the axial direction, remains constant, which ensures fast establishment of the optimum mode after the column is put into operation.
