    A device for securing a bulb 10 to the reflector 3 of a motor vehicle headlamp comprises a mounting ring 13 independent of the reflector 3 and adapted to be fitted in an orifice 24 in the reflector 3 in two different (inverted) positions in each of which it provides support for standard mounting means 7 on the base 6 of a different kind of bulb. The ring 13 is also capable of being mounted in the reflector orifice 24 in two orientations for each position to accommodate a dipped beam for both right and left hand drive. The ring 13 has an associated annular plug 40 for securing the bulb to the ring in a predetermined position relative to the reflector, the plug being secured to the ring by means of barbed retaining members 49, 50. <IMAGE>

    The purpose of the invention is to increase traffic safety by eliminating the possibility of improper mounting of the lamp on the reflector during operation.
