A pipeline switch is provided which is particularly useful in the foodstuff industry. The switch has leakage control and a cleanable leakage cavity. Two differently sized valve disks are movable independently relative to one another to a limited extent. One disk is rigidly connected to the pipeline switch drive and when lifted positively moves the other with it. The valve rods of the valve disks extend in the same direction and telescopically engage one another. The valve disks form between them both in the closed and in the open position, a leakage cavity with one or two connecting paths to the exterior of the pipeline switch. This path (or paths) serves both for the leading away of the leakage fluid and for the feeding or discharge of the fluids used in the cleaning process. An annular clearance is formed by the valve rod connected to the smaller valve disk and the hollow valve rod which leads from the larger valve disk. This annular clearance is throughout its entire length an integral part of a connecting path between the leakage cavity and the exterior of the pipeline switch.
