Bicycle with sound feedback and working method
The present invention relates to a bicycle with sound feedback. The present invention further relates to a method for providing at least one feedback by means of a bicycle according to one or more of the preceding claims.
A bicycle has been developed from a purely mechanical device to a device with electromechanical and electronic components. In recent years, the bicycle has been provided with, for example, a built-in mobile communication technology for being able to follow a bicycle through this mobile communication technology. Furthermore, the bicycle with electric motor starts to rise and is provided with a display for showing the speed. The present inventor has noted that there are limitations to the simple feedback by means of displaying the speed in this way.
In order to provide new possibilities, the present invention provides a bicycle with feedback, the bicycle comprising:
- a tube assembly comprising a frame with mutually fixed tube elements and movable tube elements, such as a stem and a handlebar,
- at least a subsystem of the bicycle for providing a respective function to the bicycle,
- a control unit for functional interaction with the at least one subsystem of the bicycle, the control unit comprising:
receiving means for receiving the at least one status signal from the at least one subsystem
processing means, such as comprising processing unit, for processing the at least one status signal, and
P58 6
- output means for outputting at least one output signal, the bicycle further comprising:
- a sound system, comprising a loudspeaker for outputting sound,
- a power supply, such as a battery, for supplying power to the control unit and preferably to the at least one subsystem, more preferably the sound subsystem, wherein:
- the sound subsystem is adapted to output sound as a sound feedback based on the at least one status signal from the at least one subsystem.
Such a bicycle according to the present invention therefore provides audible feedback based on signals from other bicycle subsystems. This makes it possible for the user to receive information regarding such subsystems. Persons other than the user can also perceive such information. This makes it possible, for example, to give audible warnings to the user, but also, for example, to theft of a bicycle, or at least to the person attempting to do so.
According to a first preferred embodiment, the loudspeaker is arranged in the tube assembly. Such an arrangement in the tube assembly provides a high degree of robustness to the speaker. A further advantage of this is that perceiving the sound has an aspect of experience as if the sound came from the bicycle. This creates an experience of a link between the bicycle and the sound.
Preferably, the sound subsystem comprises an amplifier. This allows the volume to be adjusted between
P58 6 a volume suitable for a feedback to a person on the bicycle or a person next to the bicycle, or suitable for a feedback that a feedback, such as an alarm, is effected over a distance of meters, tens of meters or hundreds of meters, at least perceptible for human hearing or for a microphone designed for that purpose.
According to a further preferred embodiment, one of the control unit, the at least one subsystem and the sound subsystem is arranged in a cassette, the cassette preferably being arranged in the tube assembly. Hereby it is advantageously realized that a whole of control unit and a number of subsystems and the sound subsystem can be arranged as a whole in a tubular element of the bicycle. This is advantageous for aspects of assembly and repair. The durability of the whole of elements arranged in the cassette is hereby also increased by the increased reliability of the mutual arrangement of the elements. In case such a cassette is arranged in a tube element of the bicycle, such an arrangement contributes positively to the durability of the cassette and its contents during the life of the bicycle because it is protected by it.
For the purpose of generating a signal, such as a ringing signal or a tone signal, by a user of the bicycle, the bicycle, furthermore, preferably comprises a subsystem wherein one of the at least one subsystem comprises a call button or button which is preferably arranged in or on the handlebar. As a result, the sound system according to the present invention has been applied on an advantageous basis as a replacement for a traditional mechanical bell
P58 6 arranged on the handlebar. A bell on the bicycle is a vulnerable part. Due to the vulnerability of a bell on the handlebars, this past the other locations have been mounted on the bicycle. The sound-producing function of the sound system advantageously provides a very robust solution to the long-standing problem of bubble vulnerability, certainly in the case of a tube or other robust housing of the bicycle.
According to a further preferred embodiment, one of the at least one subsystem is a sensor with regard to the status of a lock blocking the operation of the bicycle, such as a mechanical lock, or a contact lock for the control unit and / or an electric drive motor for the bicycle, more preferably wherein the lock and / or the ignition lock are arranged in the tube assembly. By means of such measures according to these preferred embodiments, an application of the sound feedback as an alarm is realized. For example, it is possible to give a sound alarm if the lock provides a status, such as a lock status, that the lock is locked and manipulated on the bicycle.
Preferably, one of the at least one subsystem is a dynamo, such as a front-wheel dynamo, such as a hub dynamo. Such a dynamo provides the feature that when the wheel is rotated, in this case the front wheel, but the rear wheel is likewise provided, a signal is emitted. A rotating dynamo naturally provides power. Combining the signals that the lock is locked and still rotates a wheel leads to an indication that an alarm should be given.
An alternative method of combining signals led to the issuing of the alarm concerns a fore5
P58 is a preferred embodiment in which one of the at least one subsystem comprises a G-force sensor or a motion sensor, preferably arranged in the tube assembly, more preferably in a cassette according to the present invention. If the lock indicates the status that it is locked, and the teacher sensor or the motion sensor indicates that the bicycle is moving, this gives rise to an indication of an alarm. It is anticipated that an alarm trigger will occur in the case of both rotation of the dynamo and movement of the motion sensor and the status of the lock that it is locked.
According to a further preferred embodiment, one of the at least one subsystem comprises a front light and / or a rear light, wherein preferably the front light and / or the rear light is arranged in respective ends of a top tube as part of the tube assembly. Such a preferred embodiment provides the advantage that, in addition to alarm, sound can be given on the basis of the other subsystems of the bicycle by means of this lighting. The idea here is that if a stranger moves on with a bicycle with a loud alarm and flashing lights, preferably also with a rear wheel specified from the bottom, this will create a sense of urgency for other people. The mere urgency of such a full urgency will cause the stranger to refrain from the theft or, in the event of noticing these ways of drawing attention, cause the stranger to abort the acts of the stolen.
According to a further preferred embodiment, one of the at least one subsystem comprises a sender receiver for a short-range network, such as Bluetooth, preferably arranged in the tube assembly, with further
P58 6 is preferred in a cassette according to the present invention. It is advantageous here that feedback can be provided in this manner via a short-range network, such as Bluetooth, to a device such as a telephone. Hereby the rider of the bicycle can be provided with feedback via this telephone via an output device thereof.
For further feedback, one of the one subsystem further preferably comprises a sender receiver for a cellular network or mobile telephone network, preferably arranged in the tube assembly, more preferably in a cassette according to the present invention. This makes it advantageously possible to provide feedback via such a network to a user of the bicycle or a tracking system for following the bicycle. Further preferably, one of the at least one subsystem comprises a drive battery, preferably arranged in a tubular element, and a drive motor for driving the bicycle, arranged for providing a battery status signal, such as for the purpose of the alarm, to the control unit . This advantageously achieves that a sound feedback can be realized on the basis of the battery status signal.
According to a further preferred embodiment, one of the at least one subsystem comprises a system for processing and / or storing sound signals. A provided advantage of this preferred embodiment is that adapted sound signals are applicable, can be processed and
P58 6 can be saved. This furthermore makes it possible, for example, to change such sound signals by means of a firmware update or software update related to the control unit. Alternatively, it is possible that the user adds and processes his own sound files, such as via the short-range or medium-range network connection, such as through an application on a mobile phone or a file transfer.
According to a further preferred embodiment, one of the at least one subsystem comprises a light sensor, preferably adapted to detect ambient light, adapted to provide the status signal, such as for the purpose of feedback, to the control unit, wherein, preferably, a light sensor is arranged in a front light, rear light or display of the bicycle. The at least one subsystem furthermore preferably comprises a temperature sensor, preferably adapted to detect an ambient temperature, adapted to provide a status signal, such as for the purpose of sound feedback, to the control unit.
According to a further preferred embodiment, one of the at least one subsystem comprises a GPS receiver, arranged for providing status signal, such as for the purpose of sound feedback, to the control unit.
According to a further preferred embodiment, the bicycle comprises a microphone for providing an environmental sound signal to the control unit for recording or forwarding thereof. Such a preferred embodiment provides the advantage that a sound feedback can be made
P58 6 den provided based on ambient noise.
The bicycle preferably further comprises processing means for detecting the presence of sound, preferably comprising adjusting means for adjusting a volume of the sound feedback to the detected sound present, wherein further preferably the volume of the sound feedback is positively related to the volume of the detected sound. It is advantageous here that the sound feedback from the bicycle can be perceived with substantially the same quality with different amounts of ambient noise.
The bicycle according to a preferred embodiment furthermore preferably comprises a biometric sensor designed as speech analysis means for recognizing speech and / or a unique voice from the sound signal, such as that of a legitimate user of the bicycle, preferably for composing a speech status signal , preferably comprising feedback means for providing a sound feedback in case of recognition. Hereby it is realized that the rightful user of the bicycle can be recognized as such by the biometric sensor and thereby feedback is provided.
According to a further preferred embodiment, the bicycle comprises a speech analysis unit for recognizing speech instructions from the sound signal as operating instructions for operating the bicycle or its control unit, preferably comprising feedback means for providing a sound feedback in case of recognition. A sound feedback is hereby realized advantageously with regard to the recognition of speech instructions.
P58 6
The bicycle is furthermore preferably provided with a biometric sensor, preferably a fingerprint sensor for providing a biometric sensor status signal, preferably comprising feedback means for providing a sound feedback in case of recognition. A sound feedback is hereby realized in an advantageous manner with regard to the recognition by means of the biometric sensor.
In such preferred embodiments, in addition to the sound feedback based on recognition, sound feedback is also important in the case of precisely no recognition. The user is hereby immediately informed regarding the failure of the intended recognition. In such a way, a sound feedback is always provided in the positive sense as well as a sound feedback in the negative sense.
A further aspect of the present invention relates to a method for providing at least one feedback from the bicycle according to one or more of the preceding claims, the method comprising the steps of:
- the control unit receiving at least one input signal with respect to a feedback from one of the at least one subsystem,

As a result, feedback is provided advantageously by means of, for example, recognizable flashing. A further advantage is provided that such a light output signal focuses attention on a sound feedback signal which is also implemented.
The method preferably further comprises steps for:
- receiving a status signal as input for determining an alarm status, and
- forming an alarm sound output signal based on the alarm status. This provides an advantageous sound feedback with regard to an alarm status of the bicycle. Further preferably, steps are provided for forming a differentiated alarm sound output signal that is dependent on gradations in the alarm status, such as a low-intensity alarm for alerting a person or a high-intensity alarm for alerting the environment.
In further preference steps are provided for:

According to preferred embodiments according to the present invention, a bicycle is provided with the possibility of giving feedback by means of events, these events comprising actions of the user of the bicycle and operational feedback sounds related to states of the control unit of the bicycle and subsystems associated therewith linked. Such feedback sounds relate to ringing sounds; warning sounds relating to an alarm function such as deterrence sounds and alarming alarm sounds; and the operational feedback sounds such as a general positive feedback signal such as an acknowledgment, a general negative feedback signal such as indicating the opposite of an acknowledgment, a switching sound such as from the control unit or a key switch function, a switch-off confirmation or standby confirmation, a switch-on confirmation of the alarm, a switch-off confirmation of the alarm, a confirmation sound of a locked lock, a confirmation sound of a lock being unlocked, a moving sound for moving through a menu, or a confirmation sound when entering a pin code for, for example, manual switching off of a lock an alarm. A tubular element according to the foregoing description is an element
P58 6 of the bicycle with a structural rigidity such as that of a tube, including elements such as the frame, a front fork or rear fork, any support tube related to it, the stem and or handlebar. An arrangement of the actual loudspeaker in any of these mentioned elements is meant by the description that a loudspeaker is available in a tubular element of the bicycle.
According to an embodiment the sound system is optional for the purpose of feedback, preferably in combination with the sound feedback on the basis of the at least one status signal of the at least one subsystem. In this case, feedback via a lighting subsystem, such as the front light and / or the rear light, is provided as primary feedback. Alternatively, feedback is provided through a further subsystem, such as through an alarm subsystem with, for example, feedback via an alarm output signal, preferably via a short, medium or long distance network connection, such as a cellular network connection system, such as a mobile telephone network.
