Platform truck and method for transporting goods
The present invention relates to a platform truck for transporting goods. Such platform trolleys are used, among other things, for moving goods in a warehouse and for the supply and removal of products within and between companies.
Various platform trolleys are known from practice which are provided with a bearing surface or bearing platform on which goods can be placed. The carrying platform is attached to a frame on which wheels are provided to enable effective displacement.
A problem with known platform wagons is that they also have to be moved regularly empty, i.e. without load. This means that a relatively large volume must be transported. Such platform trolleys also require relatively much storage space. In addition, these platform trolleys in practice do not provide sufficiently flexible usable support options for the goods to be moved with the platform trolley to prevent, for example, their shifting on the bearing surface. This limits the flexible usability of conventional platform cars.
The present invention has for its object to solve the above problems or at least to reduce them.
For this purpose the present invention provides a platform trolley, wherein the platform trolley according to the invention comprises: a frame provided with a base support surface on which goods can be placed; at least one additional bearing surface with which in use the total bearing surface can be increased; a number of wheels fitted to the frame provided with a braking system; and a number of recesses arranged in the bearing surface for receiving stakes.
By providing a base bearing surface on the frame that functions as a kind of bearing platform, the goods to be transported can be placed on it and then moved to the desired location with the aid of the platform truck. For this purpose a number of wheels are mounted on the frame, provided with a braking system to bring about a standstill, if desired, in time. This is particularly relevant if relatively heavy loads are moved.
By providing a braking system on at least a number of the wheels fitted to the frame, it is achieved that the platform truck can be stopped in a relatively simple manner. This is particularly relevant if relatively heavy goods are moved and where there would otherwise be a longer braking distance and / or greater forces required.
By providing recesses arranged in the bearing surface, so-called stakes can be placed as additional supports. According to the invention, a number of such recesses are provided in the bearing surface for being able to place stanchions at several positions. In this way a flexible use of these stakes is possible, such that a larger assortment of goods can be moved as cargo with the platform truck according to the invention. This, for example, prevents goods from sliding during braking of the platform truck.
To this end, the recesses are preferably arranged spread out over the entire surface of the bearing surface, except around the bearing surface. Here, the recesses for the stakes are preferably also provided in the at least one additional bearing surface for further increasing the flexible placement thereof.
According to the invention, at least one additional bearing surface is provided, with which the total bearing surface can be enlarged. By using the additional support, a larger quantity of goods can be moved to the desired location in one transport movement. This makes effective transport of goods possible.
By providing an additional bearing surface, the total bearing surface can be increased in use. This total bearing surface is formed by the basic bearing surface and by the at least one additional bearing surface. The additional bearing surface is herein preferably seen on the side of the platform truck, seen in the normal direction of movement of the platform truck. This means that in this embodiment the width of the platform truck can be effectively increased. Two additional bearing surfaces are preferably provided, i.e. one additional bearing surface on the right-hand side and one additional bearing surface on the left-hand side, viewed in the conventional direction of travel of the platform truck according to the invention. In this way an enlargement of the total bearing surface can be effected in an effective manner.
In an advantageous preferred embodiment according to the invention, the at least one additional bearing surface is provided with a hinge for pivotally moving the additional bearing surface relative to the base bearing surface.
By providing a hinge on the frame and / or the basic bearing surface, an additional bearing surface can be hingedly provided. This means that in use the additional bearing surface is brought substantially in the same plane as the basic bearing surface, such that goods can be moved effectively. If the additional bearing surface is not required, it can preferably be folded away by performing a rotational movement of the hinge, preferably about a longitudinal axis in the longitudinal direction of the platform truck.
The additional bearing surface is herein preferably folded upwards, so that it is located above the basic bearing surface in a folded up, unused condition. In this way the required storage space is reduced and the maneuverability of the platform truck without load is additionally increased, such that the platform truck can be moved more efficiently.
In a presently preferred embodiment, the hinge is provided with a support surface configured to support the base support surface in a folded-up state.
For providing a supporting surface, the hinge is preferably provided with a type of chamfer which, when folded up, rests on, preferably, the basic supporting surface. The additional bearing surface is herein placed in an at-rest state, or in an empty transport state, at an angle with respect to the basic bearing surface. This angle is preferably approximately 40-70 °, more preferably approximately 50 °, such that a user can, for example, effectively fold down the additional bearing surface. To this end, the user has a good grip on the additional bearing surface and, by exerting a limited force and movement, the additional bearing surface can rotate from a rest position to a position of use. This increases the ease of use for the user of the platform truck according to the invention.
Optionally, the additional bearing surface is provided on a single side from a single bearing surface or from sub-parts resulting in a composite additional bearing surface. With such a composition, the additional bearing surface can be brought into sub-parts in a position of use, depending on the need and / or the goods to be moved.
The at least one additional bearing surface is preferably provided with a number of wheels. Hereby additional support points are obtained for the platform truck, such that heavy load can also be placed wholly or partly on the additional bearing surfaces.
In a presently preferred embodiment of the platform trolley, the working width of the total bearing surface is approximately 2 meters and the length is in the range of 2-3 meters, preferably approximately 2.5 meters. This means that the total active support surface is obtained in the unfolded state of approximately 4-6 m2, preferably approximately 5 m2. A large number of goods can be moved with this. Recesses are provided in the various bearing surfaces for the stakes. In the collapsed state, the working width is approximately 1 meter, due to the lateral arrangement of the additional bearing surfaces that can be brought into the folded-up state at an angle of approximately 50 ° with the base bearing surface. The total height of the platform truck in the collapsed state is approximately 700 - 750 mm. It will be clear that other dimensions of the platform truck are also possible according to the invention.
In a further advantageous preferred embodiment according to the present invention, the brake system is provided with at least two opposite ends of the frame arranged brake control elements.
By providing brake operating elements, the brake system can be operated in a simple manner by a user. Providing at least two brake operating elements here, each at one end of the frame, i.e. one at the front of the base bearing surface and one at the rear of the base bearing surface, as seen in the normal direction of travel of the platform truck, is achieved that the user can effectively brake the platform truck, and if desired in a possible embodiment according to the invention, can even fix it in a parking position. A platform carriage can hereby also be used effectively in two driving directions without the entire platform carriage having to be rotated through 180 ° or turned. This increases the usability of the platform truck according to the invention.
Preferably, the at least two brake operating means are operatively connected to each other. This ensures that operation on one side of the platform trolley has the same effect as operation on the other side of the platform trolley. An activated brake can also be released from the other side. This further increases the flexibility and ease of use of the platform truck according to the invention.
In a further advantageous preferred embodiment according to the present invention, a storage is provided on the underside of the base bearing surface for storing unused stakes therein.
By providing a separate storage facility, for example a suspension system, on the base support surface or directly on the platform, it is achieved that the stakes can be transported in combination with the platform truck. This ensures that sufficient stakes are available at all times at the desired location for efficiently supporting the goods to be transported. This avoids unsafe transport.
The invention also relates to a method for transporting goods, the method comprising the steps of: providing a platform truck as described above; placing stakes at the desired positions in the bearing surface; placing the goods on the support; and moving the goods.
The method offers the same effects and advantages as described for the platform truck. The method is particularly advantageous for moving different types of goods in a flexible manner, because the stakes can be placed at desired positions in the bearing surface. As a result, a wider deployability of the platform truck according to the invention is achieved. This also greatly increases the safety for transporting goods, since the supports / stakes with regard to location can be adjusted to the goods to be moved.
Furthermore, the provision of a braking system, preferably with a double operating system at the front and rear of the platform truck, enables effective braking of the platform truck, wherein the platform truck can be used effectively and flexibly in several driving directions.
By providing additional bearing surfaces, a large effective total bearing surface is achieved, while the platform truck can suffice with less space for empty transport and storage. For this purpose, the additional bearing surfaces are preferably hingedly provided on the longitudinal side of the basic bearing surface. The additional bearing surface is herein provided on a single side with a single bearing surface or with sub-parts.
Further advantages, features and details of the invention are elucidated on the basis of preferred embodiments thereof, wherein reference is made to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 2B shows a detailed view of the recess for the stakes of the platform trolley of Figure 1;
Figure 3A shows a view of the platform trolley from Figure 1 in the folded-up state; and Figure 3B shows a detail view of the hinge according to the invention of the platform trolley from Figure 1.
Platform trolley 2 (Figure 1) comprises frame 4 provided with wheels 6 running on substrate 8. Platform trolley 2 comprises basic support surface 10 provided on or on frame 4. In the embodiment shown, platform trolley 2 has an integral support surface 12 as a whole designed on the longitudinal side, 14. It will be clear that each additional additional bearing surface 12, 14 can also be made of sub-parts. Furthermore, recesses 16 are provided both in the base support surface 10 and in the additional support surface 12, 14, for being able to place stakes 18. In the embodiment shown, an additional support surface 12, 14 is connected to base support surface 10 by means of a number of hinges.
On the underside of basic bearing surface 10 (Figure 2A) storage space 22 is provided on frame 4, in which unused stakes 18 can be placed. Also, in the embodiment shown, brake system 24 is provided which engages a part of wheels 6. In the embodiment shown, first brake wheel 28 is operatively connected to second brake wheel 30 via brake connection 26. Furthermore, first control element 32 and second control element 34 are provided which are also connected via connection 26 are directly or indirectly connected to each other.
In the embodiment shown, recess 16 (Figure 2B) is provided as a kind of sleeve profile 36 with a support lip 38, on which a ridge 18 rests when it is placed in profile 36. It will be clear that other types of supports are also possible according to the invention.
In the folded-up state of platform trolley 2 (Figure 3A), the additional bearing surfaces 12, 14 are substantially above the base bearing surface 10. Here, additional bearing surfaces 12, 14 are located at an angle α of 50 ° with respect to the base bearing surface 10.
Hinge 20 (Figure 3B) is provided with a first end on lip 38 fixed to base bearing surface 10. The hinge according to the second lip 40 is fixed on additional bearing surfaces 12, 14 which are rotatably provided with respect to each other about rotation axis 42. In the embodiment shown, rotation axis 42 is provided by a bolt 44 and nut 46. It will be clear that a fixed physical axis is also possible as an alternative to the bolt-nut connection 44, 46. In the embodiment shown, lip 40 is provided with beveled edge 48 which in resting position rests on base support surface 10 and thus carries the additional support surface 12, 14. The slope of edge 48 determines the size of angle a.
In the embodiment shown, base bearing surface 10 is provided with a number of wheels 6, 28, 30 and additional bearing surfaces 12, 14 are provided as a whole, and each separately provided with two wheels 6. It will be clear that also a different number of wheels , as well as another configuration or additional bearing surfaces 12, 14, for example consisting of a number of sub-parts, are possible according to the invention. In the embodiment shown, the working width of platform trolley 2 is approximately 2 meters and the length approximately 2.4 meters. In the collapsed state, the working width reduces to approximately 1 meter and the height to approximately 0.7 - 0.8 meters, while in the folded-out working condition it is approximately 0.25 - 0.3 meters. Here, too, other dimensions are possible according to the invention. The frame 4 is preferably made of a steel, aluminum, plastic or other material and the bearing surfaces 10, 12, 14 are made of wood, metal, plastic or another material. Stanchions 18 are preferably made of a tubular profile, for example a steel or aluminum tubular profile. It also applies here that for the materials mentioned, any other alternative materials according to the invention are also possible.
If goods need to be moved, platform wagon 2 is preferably brought to the goods in folded up condition. Additional support surfaces 12, 14 are folded over to the position of use and goods are placed on support surface 10, 12, 14. Platform wagon 2 is then driven to the intended location and arrived there, preferably braked with braking system 24. Goods arrived at the desired location are unloaded and additional bearing surfaces 12, 14 are folded back to the rest position and the width of platform wagon 2 is thus limited for displacement to the next goods to be moved or to a storage location. Stanchions 18 are hereby taken out and preferably stored in storage space 22.
The present invention is by no means limited to the embodiments thereof described above. The rights sought are defined by the following claims, within the scope of which many modifications are conceivable.

A platform trolley, comprising: a frame provided with a basic bearing surface on which goods can be placed; at least one additional bearing surface with which in use the total bearing surface can be increased; a number of wheels fitted to the frame provided with a braking system; and a number of recesses arranged in the bearing surface for receiving stakes.

A platform trolley according to claim 1, wherein the recesses are also provided in the at least one additional bearing surface.

A platform trolley as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein the at least one additional bearing surface is provided with a hinge for pivotally moving the additional bearing surface relative to the basic bearing surface.

The platform trolley according to claim 3, wherein the hinge is provided with a support surface configured to support the base support surface in a folded-up state.

A platform truck according to one or more of the preceding claims, wherein the at least one additional bearing surface is provided with a number of wheels.

A platform trolley according to one or more of the preceding claims, wherein at least two additional bearing surfaces are provided on opposite sides of the basic bearing surface.

Platform wagon according to one or more of the preceding claims, wherein a storage is provided on the underside of the basic bearing surface for storing unused stakes therein.

A method for transporting goods, comprising: providing a platform truck according to one or more of the preceding claims; placing stakes; placing the goods on the support; and moving the goods.
