The further description will focus on the cultivation of mushrooms, although the device according to the invention is not limited to this. In such an apparatus known from British patent GB-A-1,428,345 mushrooms are cultivated on the topsoil supported by the support layer. For the cultivation of mushrooms, it is especially the temperature and aeration that are important to unclog the mushrooms. The temperature must be such that the temperature in the topsoil or soil is a few degrees higher than the temperature of the surrounding air, which can be achieved in particular by regular ventilation. The support layer is therefore air permeable. A drawback of the known device is that during ventilation via the grid the topsoil bed is lowered in temperature relatively quickly, as a result of which the required temperature difference between the topsoil and the surrounding air cannot be properly maintained. The object of the invention is to provide a device in which a relatively good temperature management is ensured. This object is achieved with the device according to the invention in that support members are provided on the underside of the grid for supporting a permeable cover which is permeable permanently or for certain periods of time, with which the grid can be covered on the underside. With the device according to the invention it is now possible to obtain conditions in the cell under which mushrooms can unclog, whereby the grid is closed at the bottom by the cover, so that a good heat-insulating layer is obtained under the topsoil, in particular through the air layer. located in the grid, between the sealing cloth on the top and the cover on the bottom. The cover on the underside to obtain the heat-insulating effect of the grille must not be a permanent closure of the grille because the circulation of the air is then insufficient. The cover is preferably formed by a flexible air-permeable cloth of the same material as the cloth applied to the top of the grid on which the topsoil rests. Such a cloth is permeable to air during the aeration of the soil, but keeps the air layer in the grid to a sufficiently stable layer, so that the heat-insulating effect of the closed grid is retained. It will be clear, however, that the preferred insulating fabric is a compromise between, on the one hand, allowing the air to pass during the aeration of the compost and, on the other hand, retaining the air when the heat insulating effect of the grate is required. Therefore it is also possible to work with another cover such as a foil or a plate provided with closable through openings. The invention is further elucidated with reference to the following description, wherein reference is made to the drawing, in which the figure schematically shows a part of a cell with a grid according to the invention. A cross-section is shown of a grid 1 with a top of soil 2, 45 mounted thereon, which grid is fixed in the cell to the uprights 3 to which the side walls 4 are fastened with the bed in between. In order to prevent the topsoil 2 from falling through the grid 1, a covering cloth 5 is provided on the top of the grid, which can be rolled away in the direction perpendicular to the drawing and also takes the topsoil away when rolling away so that the cell can be emptied automatically . According to the invention, the grid is provided on the underside with a heat-insulating cover, for which purpose a cloth 6 is shown in the drawing, which rests on the support tube 7. This support tube 7 is attached to the uprights 3 by means of projections or feet 8. The tubes 7 are spaced such that the fabric 6 is fastened a short distance against the bottom of the grid 1. The heat insulating effect can be improved by providing plates with closable openings instead of a cloth, but the drawback of such plates is that they are more difficult to handle and the cloth can be disinfected more easily.
