专利说明:
Panoramic spiral with uncoupled tracks The invention concerns a lower with passenger cabins providing a panoramic view, which travel on tracks having spiral shape up and down and around the tower, according to the beginning of conclusion 1. Towers with double spiral tracks and cabins are known in several patents such as US 19010074884, US 19010042660, US 19200373928, and CN2011281285U. Passengers can enter the cabins at the bottom and experience a panoramic view from the cabins during the. way up and down the spirals. The cabins according to the above state of art towers travel at the same distance from each other and at the same speed over the entire length of the track. For the passengers to step in and out of a cabin comfortably and safely, alt cabins can only travel at low speed or slow down, or all cabins are stopped for some time, each time a cabin is at the entrance station at the bottom of the tower. A disadvantage of running at low speed or slowing down or stopping the cabins is that it increases the cycle time of the cabins, and as a result the number of passengers per hour is reduced. Another disadvantage is that the cabins in their way up and down also experience the acceleration and deceleration of the cabins, which is inconvenient and therefore undesirable. From an economic point of view, the best situation is achieved if the passengers can experience much time at the fop of the tower, where the panoramic view is optimum, while the total cycle time of the cabins is short, allowing more passengers to enjoy the ride. The towers known from the patents referred to above have ascending spiral track which are coupled in an endless loop to the descending spiral track. A disadvantage of the coupling of the ascending and descending track is that the inclination of the cabins relative to the ascending and descending track is different and therefore the cabin is to be rotated around a horizontal axis when it arrives at the top of the tower to keep its vertical orientation. T his requires an extra rotation axis of the cabins, also to be provided with extra drive systems, which is complicated and expensive. The objective of the invention is to remove one or more of the above disadvantages and to provide a solution which allows optimisation of the comfort and of the panoramic view of passengers. This is achieved by controlling and adapting the travelling speed of the cabins in different parts of the cycle. The first part of the cycle is at. the station where passengers enter or exit the cabins, which can be optimized by including a horizontal station at the bottom. One or more cabins are slowed down or stopped to offer sufficient time for entrance or exit. Another part of the cycle is when the cabins travel up or down the spirals, and in this part the speed can be higher to teduee the total cycle time. Another part of the cycle is when the cabins are at the top of the tower, where the panoramic view is best and preferably the travelling speed is reduced; The panoramic view is further improved by allowing the cabins to rotate around two axes, in this way the cabin remains vertical while it rotates around a vertical axis. Another objective of the invention is to avoid the requirement of a rotation axis and drive system to keep the cabins in a vertical orientation when moving from the ascending track to the descending track. This is accomplished by providing a revolving system which rotates around the vertical central axis of the tower, which cart move the cabins from the upper end of the ascending track io the upper end of the descending track. From this position the cabins travel backward down the descending track. At the bottom of the tower a similar revolving system is provided which can move the cabins from the lower end of the descending track to the lower end of the ascending track, where the cabins can travel upward. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the tower is fitted with one ascending track and one descending track. The revolving system at the top can be fitted however with multiple places for cabins moving front the ascending track, to the descending track. After a cabin arrives at the descending track, the cabin can either travel down or move further to the ascending track to complete one or more full rounds around the lower. As a consequence the visitors can spent more time at the top of the tower. The same principle can he «set! at the bottom of the lower, as multiple places for cabins will result in more time for the visitors to enter or leave the cabins. in a preferred embodiment of the invention, the travelling speed of each cabin is controlled indi vidually and cabins can be uncoupled and taken out of the track, in this way, cleaning and maintenance of cabins can be done while the tower remains in operation. Cabins running up the track will consume power to travel against the gravity, while cabins running down can deliver power. In another preferred embodiment of the invention, the motor drives of the cabins are coupled electrically, such that the cabins running down deliver power io the cabins running upward. The total power consumption in this way is reduced. Further explanation of the invention wifi be given by means of figures below, which will give a practical embodiment of the invention, but may not be considered in a limiting sense, wherein: Figure i shows a side view of a tower with passenger cabins providing a panoramic view, which travel or, track around the tower having spiral shape, whereby an ascending spiral track is coupled-at the top to a descending spiral track, according to prior art. Figure 2 shows a side view' of a tower with passenger cabins travelling at varying distance and speed according to the invention. Figure 3 shows isometric view of an embodiment of a cabin travelling on a rail track. The vertical main structure (i) in figure 1 and the spiral tracks attached to the periphery of the main structure arranged as an endless loop of an ascending track (2a) and a descending track (2b), allowing cabins (3 ) to travel along the track up and down. In figure 2 the cabins (3} travel at varying speed and distance to each other. The cabins at the station (4) at the bottom of the tower can slow down or stop for passengers to step in and out. while other cabins continue travelling at higher speed at the track up and down. Cabins (3) at the top of the tower can also slow down to give more time to passengers to enjoy the panoramic view at the best, highest point of the ride. in Figure 3 a more detailed example of a cabin (3) is shown. The cabin travels upward on two sets (8) of three wheels on two parallel irack 2a. The parallel track ate connected by beaut elements (6.} at tegular spacing, which is to ensure the track are kept parallel and also to provide support elements {7) to be connected to the vertical main structure (I). In this special embodiment the cabin is spherical and can be rotated around two orthogonal axes, indicated by R1 and R2. For the rotation around the axis R2, a circular bearing (9) around the cabin (3) is provided. The rotation angle of the two axes (RI, R2) is controlled such that the position of the cabin (3} is kept vertical at all tunes. According to the invention the rotation around the two •axes is no longer required. Figure 4 shows an embodiment of the invention, whereby a revolving system (JO) is provided at the top of the tower and at the bottom of the tower (.11) which can move the cabins from the upper end of the ascending track (2a) to the descending track (2b) and from the lower end of the descending track (2a} to the ascending track (2b). Figure 5 shows an enlarged isometric view of the top of the. tower (1) according to an embodiment of the invention, whereby the revolving system (11) has been moved in the direction of the arrow. For clarity the cabin that moves with the revolving system is not shown in this figure, A short track (13) is attached to the revolving system, which is aligned to the ascending track (2a) before the movement is started, in order to enable the cabin to move to the revolving system.
