Therefore, vertical milling operations are possible, but horizontal milling operations, that is, milling operations in which the tool 3 must be rotated about an imaginary line perpendicular to the vertically arranged spindle 13 cannot be performed. . If a machine tool having a vertically arranged spindle head as described above is intended to be changed to a horizontal milling operation during a vertical milling operation, the tool coupled to the spindle must be disconnected and the so-called angle head in place. After the installation of a complex mechanical device called ie a separate, complex mechanical device with a horizontally arranged axis of rotation, the tool must be coupled to the axis of rotation.

In order to achieve the above object, the spindle head of a machine tool according to the present invention, which is installed in a machine tool and rotatably supports a tool, includes a spindle box, a spindle motor installed in the spindle box, and a spindle box. Referring to the drawings, the spindle head 20 according to the present invention is installed in the main body 1 of a milling machine as a machine tool. The spindle head 20 includes a spindle box 21, a spindle motor 22, first spindles 23, and second spindles 24.
The spindle box 21 is slidably coupled to the guide 2 installed in the milling machine main body 1 so that the spindle box 21 can be elevated along the guide 2. The spindle motor 22 is fixed to the upper end of the spindle box 21, the first spindle 23 is rotatably supported through the bearings 25 to the spindle box (21). The upper end of the first spindle 23 is coupled to the output shaft of the spindle motor 22, and the tool 3 such as a milling cutter is fixed to the lower end of the first spindle 23 so that the tool 3 can be fixed by the bolt 231a. The fixing part 231 is provided. The second spindles 24 are also rotatably installed in the spindle box 21 by the bearings 25 and are arranged to form an angle of 90 degrees with the first spindles 23. On the other hand, for example, in the case of using the tool 3 to the tool fixing part 231 of the first spindle 23, a protective member is put on the tool fixing part 241 of the second spindle 24 to be safe. It is desirable to prevent accidents and to protect the tool fixing part.
As can be seen from the above description, since the spindle head 20 of the present embodiment includes the first spindles 23 arranged vertically and the second spindles arranged to form a predetermined angle with respect to the first spindles 23. For example, a tool for changing the machining direction of the workpiece is fixed to the second spindles 24 or the tool 3 fixed to the first spindles 23, for example. In the present embodiment, the spindle head mounted on the milling machine has been described, but the spindle head according to the present invention may be widely applied to other machine tools as well as the milling machine.
In addition, in the present exemplary embodiment, the first bevel gear 27 and the second bevel gear 28 are provided to allow the second spindles 24 to rotate in conjunction with the first spindles 23. The mechanism for transmitting the rotational force of the spindle 23 to the second spindles 24 may be employed in addition to the above-described bevel gears.
As described above, the spindle head of the machine tool according to the present invention includes a first spindle coupled to an output shaft of the spindle motor and a second spindle disposed to form a predetermined angle with respect to the first spindle and rotated in conjunction with rotation of the first spindle.
