专利说明:

The invention relates to a steering wheel for a motor vehicle.
Vehicle steering wheels today generally include an airbag module (airbag), which is activated in the event of a collision and absorbs the impact for the driver. When mounting the steering wheel in the motor vehicle, the airbag module is usually placed approximately in the center of the steering wheel at the end of the mounting process and compressed axially in the direction of the steering wheel hub, until the airbag module engages and is thus permanently connected to the steering wheel hub.
However, it may happen that the airbag module has to be removed, for example after an module has been triggered or as part of a vehicle inspection. Measures are therefore already known in the state of the art to allow non-destructive disassembly of the airbag module. A perforation or an opening is thus provided in the side wall of a covering of the steering wheel, by which a latching spring is accessible with a suitable and deformable tool so as to allow the airbag module to be removed again.
The snap-in spring is not visible from the outside once the airbag module is mounted, the fitter must first blindly find the tool grip point on the snap-in spring by varying the tool angle. This trial and error with the tool inside the steering wheel costs the fitter an enormous amount of time while being liable to damage - at least in principle - electronic components or the cables which are inside the steering wheel.
The object of the invention is therefore to produce a vehicle steering wheel which allows simple and rapid disassembly of an airbag module for a reduced manufacturing time and whose construction protects the components inside the steering wheel particularly well during disassembly.
This problem is solved according to the invention by a steering wheel for a motor vehicle, with a first injection molded part, comprising a guide section in the form of a gutter, a second injection molded second part, also comprising a guide section gutter, said injection molded parts being adjacent to each other so that the two guide sections together form a guide channel for an airbag module removal tool which extends along a channel axis. By guide channel is meant in the context of the invention a continuous channel with a substantially constant cross section. Compared to the opening in a side wall of the steering wheel cover known in the prior art, the guide channel is substantially longer than this and therefore offers better guidance for the module removal tool. airbag. Due to a problematic deformation, however, the production of long part channels is not possible for injection molded parts, or only by means of complex molds and slide constructions. The present invention therefore has as a basic idea to produce the guide channel by assembling gutter-shaped guide sections of two separate injection molded parts. The production of concave gutter-shaped surfaces is in this case possible without any problem in terms of manufacturing technique. The steering wheel trim also frequently includes at least two separate trim pieces, so that no additional cost ebL bous csl abpecL. beion ± ιηνθηιΐοη, ± 6 guide candy is now provided in the joint area of two trim pieces, which allows better tool guidance without the manufacturing cost being high.

On the other hand, the second injection-molded part can be a rear covering element made of plastic, opposite the dashboard in mounted condition of the steering wheel. The second injection molded part is also referred to as the rear shell and generally needs to meet fewer visual requirements.
According to one embodiment of the flywheel, the guide channel has a substantially closed cross section delimited by the two guide sections. With the slot between the guide sections, the cross section is preferably circular, but can also be provided polygonal or oval.
The guide channel, and with it each of the guide sections in the form of a gutter, preferably has in the axial direction a dimension of at least 5 mm, in particular at least 10 mm. The cross section of the channel has a certain play with respect to the cross section of the airbag module disassembly tool, making complex manufacturing unnecessary with a particularly precise adjustment, and allowing guidance and removal of the tool without blocking. From a guide length of at least 5 mm, preferably at least 10 mm, a possible deviation of the tool angle from the channel axis despite the existing clearance is however reduced the airbag module removal tool reliably and reliably contacts the catch point of the latching spring for disassembly of the airbag module. Following this safe tool guidance, the guide channel prevents or minimizes the aforementioned trial and error of the tool inside the flywheel and thus provides constructive protection for the components that are inside the flywheel. The guide channel, with a substantially circular cross-section, is particularly provided in the d1ηθetion âxiels svcc une lonçucur nopnosontuni lo doublo ^ or even three times its diameter.

In this embodiment, the spring element can be mounted on a steering wheel skeleton or on the airbag module, the other corresponding component having snap hooks where the spring element can be snapped for snap fastening the airbag module.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description below of a preferred embodiment with reference to the figures. These represent:
- Figure 1 a top view of a steering wheel according to the invention in the assembled state;
- Figure 2 a perspective view of a steering wheel skeleton for a steering wheel according to the invention;
- Figure 3 a perspective view of a cover assembly of the steering wheel of Figure 1 and a detailed view in the area of a guide channel;
- Figure 4 a perspective view of a first injection molded part of the covering assembly of Figure 3 and two detailed views in the area of a guide section; and
- Figure 5 a perspective view of a second injection molded part of the covering assembly of Figure 3 and a detailed view in the area of a guide section.
FIG. 1 represents a steering wheel 10 for a motor vehicle, which in its assembled state is rotatable about a steering axis S for the steering control of the motor vehicle and internally contains a steering wheel skeleton 12, as shown in FIG. 2 as an example.
The skeleton 12 of the steering wheel is for example made of a metal or a metal alloy and it comprises a hub 14 of the steering wheel as well as a crown 16 of the steering wheel which surrounds the steering axis A, in particular continuously. The skeleton 12 of the steering wheel further comprises a spoke 18 which connects the hub 14 of the steering wheel to the crown 16 of the steering wheel.
The steering wheel ring 16 is in the present embodiment of the steering wheel 10 at least partially coated with cellular foam 20 and further has two projections 19 extending radially inwardly for fixing switching devices 22 on the steering wheel (see Figure 1).
According to FIG. 1, the steering wheel 10 moreover comprises an airbag module 24, fixed to the skeleton 12 of the steering wheel, and in particular snapped into place with the hub 14 of the skeleton 12 of the steering wheel. For this purpose, a spring element 26 is generally mounted on the skeleton 12 of the steering wheel or on the airbag module 24, the other corresponding component having latching hooks in which the spring element 26 can be latched for the snap fastening of the airbag module 24. As can be seen in FIG. 2, the spring element 26 is, in the alternative embodiment shown of the flywheel 10, pre-mounted on the hub 14. Consequently, hooks snap-fastening (not shown) are provided on one side of the airbag module 24 opposite to the steering wheel hub 14, the spring arms 28 of the U-shaped spring element 26 having first to be elastically deformed towards one the other by the snap hooks, in the direction of the steering wheel hub 14 during an axial mounting movement of the airbag module 24, before locking by moving away once the module mounting position is reached airbag 24, engaging the snap hooks and thus snapping the airbag module 24 onto the steering wheel skeleton 12.
A covering assembly 30 of the steering wheel 10 is also recognized in FIG. 1 for the covering of the steering wheel skeleton 12 in the area of the hub 14 and of the spoke 18.
This covering assembly 30 is shown separately in FIG. 3 and it comprises a first injection molded part 32 shown in detail in FIG. 4, which includes a gutter-shaped guide section 34, as well as a second molded part. separate injection 36, shown in detail in Figure 5, which also includes a gutter-shaped guide section 38, said injection molded parts 32, 36 being adjacent to each other so that the two sections of guide 34, 38 together form a guide channel 40 for an airbag module disassembly tool 42 which extends substantially along a channel axis K. The guide sections 34, 38 are here formed as surfaces of the injection molded parts 32, 36 with concave cross section and linearly continuous in the axial direction, which form a cylindrical guide channel 40 with transverse section the constant after assembly of the covering assembly 30. This smooth and uniform guidance allows the disassembly tool 42 of an airbag module not to remain blocked in the guide channel 40. In addition, a gap possible of the tool angle relative to the channel axis K decreases as the axial length of the cylindrical guide channel 40 increases, which allows always a safe guide of the disassembly tool 42 of module d airbag.
In the assembled state of the flywheel 10 of FIG. 1, the channel axis K and the spring element 26 have at least one point of intersection S, the first injection molded part 32 and / or the second molded part by injection 36 surrounding the flywheel hub 14, in particular continuously with respect to the steering axis A in the circumferential direction. As can be seen from FIG. 2, in the present embodiment of the flywheel 10, the channel axis K has a point of intersection S with each branch 28 of the spring element 26, so there are in total two points d intersection S with the spring element 26.
It emerges from the detailed fragment of FIG. 3 that the guide channel 40 has a substantially closed cross section delimited by the two guide sections 34, 38. This channel cross section is here by way of circular example, but it may also be oval or polygonal in case of a corresponding cross section of the airbag module disassembly tool.
4 shows the first injection molded part 32 made as a cover, made of plastic and opposite a driver's seat of the motor vehicle in the mounted state of the steering wheel 10. The top of Figure 4 also shows an interior view detailed, and the bottom of FIG. 4 a detailed external view of the first injection molded part 32 in the region of the guide section 34.
The first injection molded part 32 has an outer wall 44, which extends transversely, in particular substantially perpendicularly, to the channel axis K, the outer wall 44 having an opening 46 for the insertion of the disassembly tool 42 of airbag module. The gutter-shaped guide section 34 of the first injection molded part 32 is internal, in other words it is formed integrally on the external wall 44 on the airbag module side, is axially adjacent to the opening 46 and in particular forms a direct axial extension of an edge portion of the opening 46 relative to the channel axis K.
FIG. 5 represents the second injection molded part 36 formed as a rear covering element (a so-called rear shell), made of plastic and opposite to the dashboard of the motor vehicle in the mounted state of the steering wheel 10. The top of FIG. 5 also represents a detailed fragment of the second injection molded part 36 in the region of the guide section 38.
In the assembled state of the covering assembly 30 according to FIG. 3, the gutter-shaped guide section 38 of the second injection molded part 36 is in this case axially adjacent to the opening 46 of the first injection molded part 32 and in particular forms a direct axial extension of an edge portion of the opening 46 relative to the axis of channel K.
The gutter-shaped guide section 34 of the first injection molded part 32, the gutter-shaped guide section 38 of the second injection molded part 36 and therefore also the guide channel 40 formed by the guide sections 34 , 38 have a dimension L of at least 5 mm, in particular between 12 and 18 mm relative to the axis of channel K in the axial direction. This guide length means that when the airbag module disassembly tool 42 is inserted, any deviation of the tool angle from the channel axis K is so reduced, despite '' a certain clearance between the tool and the guide channel 40, which the airbag module disassembly tool 42 reliably and securely contacts the catch spring catch point (intersection point S) for disassembly of the airbag module 24. This safe guiding of the tool towards its target allows rapid disassembly of the airbag module 24, the tool bringing the spring branches 28 towards each other until that they unhook the snap hooks so that the airbag module 24 can be removed from the skeleton 12 of the steering wheel. In addition, due to the safe guiding of the tool, the guide channel 40 prevents groping of the disassembly tool 42 of the airbag module in a large space inside the steering wheel and thus represents a constructive protection for components inside the steering wheel.
In the example of embodiment shown, the covering assembly 30 according to FIG. 3 comprises two opposite and coaxial guide channels 40 for dismantling the airbag module 24. Depending on the latching mechanism of the airbag module 24, it will however be possible to provide a different number of guide channels 40, in particular a single guide channel 40 in the covering assembly 30.
