The support without oscillations of the strip in the covering guarantees a lasting connection of the strip and the covering. Preferably, the bumper has, in opposite end regions, each time a support connected thereto. The covering is therefore connected to the bumper by means of two supports arranged at a relatively great distance from each other. In a particularly advantageous manner, the support associated with the opening in the covering is arranged next to or in the vicinity of the opening. The support of the covering in the region of a support in the bumper is therefore effected at a short distance from the opening which is crossed by the strip. As a result, the weight forces which are introduced via the strip into the casing act only with a weak lever arm on the casing and can therefore be introduced into the bumper via this support on a short distance. In particular, in motor vehicles produced in the form of light vehicles of sports categories, provision is made for the strip to be produced in the form of a strip with two pipes. The strip thus presents two pipes which form a strip unit. Each pipe of the two-pipe strip, when the casing is mounted, is traversed by a pipe end of the exhaust system of the motor vehicle. In particular, it is expected that the strip, in a strip plane, is completely surrounded by the covering. In this case, the opening in the covering is not open on one side, in particular is not open at the bottom, but the covering completely surrounds the strip in this strip plane. Preferably, the strip is supported in the covering by means of several fasteners. This contributes to a more secure and lasting connection of the blindfold and the covering. Particularly advantageously, the strip is supported in the covering in an upper region and in a lower region. The support is thus carried out on opposite sides of the strip and is sufficiently stable, also in the case of vertical forces and lateral forces which are exerted on the strip during driving. In particular, provision is made for the strip to be supported in the covering at the top by means of a single attachment and at the bottom by means of two attachments. In order to guarantee a particularly stable connection in the region of the respective supports, provision is made for the support to present, transversely to the longitudinal direction of the support, a Z-shaped profile. The support thus has increased bending stiffness as well as increased rotational rigidity for a relatively low weight of the support. Particularly advantageously, the support is supported in the bumper in a vertically adjustable manner. As a result, the tolerances between the trim and the bumper can be compensated for. In view of the fact that the bumper generally has a rectangular profile at least in a partial region of its length, it is considered particularly advantageous that the respective support has an upper end shaped in a U shape. The respective branch at the support is screwed into the region of an oblong hole or a slot arranged vertically and passing through the respective branch. As a result, a particularly simple embodiment of the support is obtained on the bumper, with a capacity for simultaneous adjustment of the support in the Z direction, as well as in the vertical direction. FIG. 1 illustrates, only for the region of the rear part of the vehicle lying on the left in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, seen in the direction opposite to the driving direction towards the front, a bumper 2 produced in the form of support and arranged in the transverse direction of the motor vehicle, that is to say in the Y direction of the motor vehicle, as well as a trim piece covering the bumper 2, and finally a strip 4 for two ends of pipe 5 of a motor vehicle exhaust system, illustrated only on a short length. The bumper 2, which consists of, or is made of, metal, present in the region of its left end (referred to the direction of driving towards the front X of the vehicle), a flange 6 in the region of which the bumper 2 is screwed to the actual body of the vehicle. The right end of the bumper 2 is correspondingly provided with a flange of this type, which is screwed to the gross body. The covering 3 consists of, or is made of, plastic. It covers the area below an engine compartment cover on the rear side. The covering 3 is therefore a rear skirt which is fixed to the bumper. The covering 3 has, below the bumper 2, in the region of the left end of the bumper 2, next to the flange 6 associated with this end, an opening 7 passing through the covering 3. The strip 4 passes through this opening 7, the strip 4 being completely surrounded by the covering 3. The strip 4 is produced in the form of a strip with two pipes and therefore has two openings 19 which each have a circular cross section. Each opening 19 is crossed by a pipe end 5 of the exhaust gas system, the respective pipe end 5 not coming into contact with the strip 4 and therefore an annular space is provided between the pipe end 5 and the strip 4. Brackets 8 which extend from the bumper 2 downwards are connected to the bumper 2 behind the covering 3. A support 8 is only illustrated in the region of the left end of the bumper 2. An additional support 8 is provided correspondingly with specular symmetry with respect to the longitudinal median axis of the vehicle, that is to say in the region of the right end of the bumper 2. Due to the embodiment for this support and its mounting or its support, reference will be made for the explanations below to the support 8 mounted in the region of the left end of the bumper 2. The covering 3 is supported below the bumper shocks 2 in the respective support 8. The strip 4 disposed in the region of the left end of the bumper 2 is supported exclusively in the covering 3, it is therefore not supported in the pipe ends 5. The support 8 associated with the opening 7 in the casing 3 is arranged next to it of the opening 7. The strip 4 is supported in the covering 3 by means of several fasteners. Concretely, the strip 4 is supported in the covering 3 in an upper region and in a lower region. The strip 4 is connected to the covering 3 at the top by means of a single screw fastening 9 and at the bottom by means of two screw fasteners 10. This gives stable support for the strip 4 in the region of the opening 7 of the covering 3, next to the support 8 associated with the opening 7. The respective support 8 has, transversely to the longitudinal direction of the support, a Z-shaped profile, the longitudinal direction of the support corresponding to the Z direction of the vehicle. The respective support 8 is supported in the bumper 2 so that it can be adjusted vertically. Concretely, the support 8 has an upper U-shaped end, the branches 11, 12 of the support 8 being arranged on each side of the bumper 2. In this case, one of the branches 11 is screwed in the region of a slot 13 arranged vertically and the other branch 12 is screwed in the region of an oblong hole 14 arranged vertically. The slot 13 allows the support 8 to pivot about the Y axis when mounting the support 8 on the bumper 2. Concretely, blind crimped threaded bolts 15 are connected to the support 8, which pass through the slot 13 and the oblong hole 14. The branches 11, 12 of the support 8 are fixed between nuts not shown, which are screwed on the threaded bolts to be blind-crimped 15 and on the bumper 2, in the case of the previous orientation of the support 8 with respect to the bumper 2, in the Z direction of the vehicle. The respective support 8 has, in the region of the lower end, an additional blind crimped threaded bolt 16, connected thereto. The blind crimp threaded bolts 16 are used for fixing a plate-shaped heat shield 17 relative to a silencer of the exhaust gas system which is arranged in the immediate vicinity of the heat shield 17 before it, by relative to the direction of driving towards the front of the vehicle. At the lower end of the respective support 8, a sheet metal nut 20 is inserted on the support 8 in the driving direction (plane xy). The sheet metal nuts 20 are used to screw the covering 3, so that, thanks to this relatively large lever arm of the support 8, in particular a stable support for the covering 3 is obtained in the two supports 8 and the shield. -shocks 2 in the X direction of the vehicle.
