FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to a device for connecting a fluid pipe and a male connector, as well as an assembly comprising such a device and said associated male connector.
It relates more particularly to a device for connecting a fluid pipe, in particular for a motor vehicle, to a male connector provided with at least one external peripheral groove, this device comprising a female connector, produced in the form of a part tubular, able to be fitted with said male fitting, a ring interposable between said fittings before axial fitting of said fittings to each other, and at least one circular seal housed inside the female fitting and held in axial position by through the ring, said ring being able to be held and assembled to interlock with the fittings by means of axial retaining means capable of cooperating with additional retaining means carried by said fittings for locking said fitting , the axial retaining means of the ring with the female ratio being produced in one piece with the ring.
PRIOR ART
Such sealed connection devices for fluid lines are well known to those versed in this art. However, today we are looking for more economical solutions to produce them without compromising the effectiveness of the seal and the modular nature of the device.
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
An object of the invention is to provide a device of the aforementioned type, the design of which allows the female connector and the ring of the device to be made of a more rigid material, to allow a reduction in the material cost without harming the efficiency of tightness and modularity of the device.
To this end, the subject of the invention is a device for the connection of a fluid line to a male connector provided with at least one external peripheral groove, this device comprising:
- a female connector made in the form of a tubular piece able to be fitted with said male connector,
- a ring interposable between said fittings before axial fitting of said fittings therebetween and at least one circular seal housed inside the female fitting and held in axial position by means of the ring, said ring being able to be maintained assembled at the fitting to the fittings by means of axial retaining means capable of cooperating with complementary retaining means carried by said fittings with a view to locking said fitting, the means for axially retaining the ring at the female fitting being made in one piece with the ring, characterized in that at least part of the axial retaining means of the ring at the female connector and axial retaining means of the ring at the male connector are arranged axially offset along of the ring body, in that the axial retaining means of the ring at the female connector comprise at least two windows s apart in the circumferential direction on the body of the ring, in that the complementary retaining means of the female connector comprise at least two lugs arranged in external radial projection of the tubular body constituting the female connector, in that each window of the means of axial retention of the ring at the female connector houses an elastically deformable tongue, made in one piece with the ring, and extending circumferentially inside the window from an edge, called the first longitudinal edge, of the window in the direction from the opposite longitudinal edge, called the second longitudinal edge, of the window, the free end of the tongue providing, with the second longitudinal edge of the window, a housing inside which one of the lugs of the female connector is capable of insert in the fitted state of the female connector and the ring, and in that the ring retaining means capable of allowing a retaining ring at the male connector comprise at least one, preferably at least two, through openings formed in the body of the ring and a locking member configured to, in the position positioned on the ring, protrude through the , or the through openings of the ring body towards the inside of the ring body.
The realization of the device in two parts in the form of a female connector and a ring allows, if necessary, to modify the female connector, while retaining the ring. The presence of the ring and the female connector allows the joint to be sandwiched, ensuring good sealing at a lower cost.
The use of a locking member allows the device to be used with a large number of types of male fittings. Finally, the locking of the ring fitting / female fitting by translation, then rotation allows good holding of the fitting, while allowing implementation with parts of slightly deformable parts, thus allowing the production of the ring and the female connector made of a relatively rigid material, thereby reducing the material cost of the assembly.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the locking member takes the form of a generally U-shaped clip, overlapping the openings, in the position positioned on the ring. Such a locking member is thus able to act through the through openings of the body of the ring to apply to the male connector and to be inserted, preferably, in the external peripheral groove of the male connector. Thanks to this locking design, this results in the possibility of making the ring from a relatively rigid material.
In the embodiment where the means for retaining the ring at the male connector comprise at least two through openings formed in the ring body in an angularly offset manner, preferably, the through openings are separated from each other at least by an external peripheral rail forming a guide path for the locking member, this rail being produced in one piece with the ring.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the ring is provided, on its internal peripheral surface, on the side facing the introduction of the female connector in the ring, with at least two notches, each notch being arranged axially aligned with one windows of the ring and forming an axial guide path inside which one of the lugs of the female connector is able to slide, when the female connector is inserted in the ring, to a position in which , the lug is in contact with bearing against the internal face of the tongue disposed inside said window, ring and female connector being able, in said fitting position, to be driven in relative rotation to allow sliding of the lug along the tongue in the direction of the free end of the tongue until the lug is inserted into the housing formed between the second longitudinal edge of the window and the end free miter of the tongue, this sliding of the lug along the tongue tending to move the tongue from its rest position in which said tongue extends inside the window, said tongue being, in the state inserted from the lug into its housing, resiliently returned to the rest position in which it prevents any exit of the lug from its housing.
Thanks to this locking being effected by relative axial displacement, then in rotation of the ring and of the female connector, this results in the possibility of a high mechanical resistance of the locking, while requiring a small elastic deformation of the stressed ring parts.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the female connector is provided, from its connection end to the ring in the direction of its opposite end, with a succession of at least two internal peripheral shoulders giving the female connector an internal profile in staircase, the first peripheral shoulder forming a seat for the seal, the second peripheral shoulder being able to form an axial abutment of the male connector in the fitted state of said male and female connectors.
Despite the extremely simple assembly of the seal, the seal obtained is a quality seal.
According to one embodiment of the invention, each window of the ring has, at the level of the associated tongue, a distance between its transverse edges greater than the distance which separates the transverse edges of the window at the level of the housing capable of receiving the 'lug. This results, in parallel with a freedom of movement of the tongue, an axial setting of the lug, the distance which separates the transverse edges of the window at the level of the housing capable of receiving the lug being adjusted to the dimensions of said lug .
According to one embodiment of the invention, the ring is provided, on its internal peripheral surface, on the side facing the introduction of the male connector in the ring, with at least one angular stop produced in one piece with the ring, said angular stop being in the form of a male, or respectively female, member capable of cooperating with a female, or respectively male, complementary member carried by the male connector to prevent any relative rotation between ring and male connector in the fitted state .
According to one embodiment of the invention, the female connector is provided, on its external peripheral surface, on the end side opposite its connection end with the ring, with notches. Such notches allow the female connector to be fixed by simple fitting with any pipe.
The invention also relates to an assembly comprising a male connector provided with at least one external peripheral groove, and a device for the connection of a fluid line to said male connector, characterized in that the device for the quick connection of 'a fluid line to said male connector is of the aforementioned type.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
As mentioned above, the device 1 which is the subject of the invention is more particularly intended to allow the so-called rapid connection of a fluid pipe, not shown, to a male connector 30 to form an assembly also in accordance with the invention.
The device 1 comprises a female connector 2 in the form of a tubular body, that is to say an elongated hollow body, open at each of its ends. This female connector 2 is suitable for receiving the male connector 30 as a socket.
The device also comprises a ring 3 interposable between the female 2 and male 30 connections before the interlocking assembly of said connections 2, 30 between them. This ring 3 is provided with axial retaining means 4 able to cooperate with complementary retaining means 6 carried by the female connector 2 for maintaining the state assembled to interlocking with the female connector 2. This ring 3 is also able to be kept assembled with fitting to the male connector 30 by means of axial retaining means 5 able to cooperate with complementary retaining means 31 carried by the male connector and produced here in the form of an external peripheral groove of the male connector 30.
In the examples shown, the means 4 for axially retaining the ring 3 at the female connector 2 are made in one piece with the ring 3 and comprise at least two, in this case, here, four windows 8 angularly offset on the body of the ring 3. These four windows 8 are each spaced in the circumferential direction of an adjacent window 8 by an angle close to 90 °.
The complementary retaining means 6 of the female connector 2 comprise at least two lugs 9, in this case, here, four lugs projecting radially from the outside of the tubular body of the female connector 2. These lugs 9 are angularly offset and are each separated in the circumferential direction of a lug 9 adjacent by an angle close to 90 °.
Each window 8 of the ring 3 houses an elastically deformable tongue 10, produced in one piece with the ring 3, and extending circumferentially inside the window from an edge, called the first longitudinal edge 11, of the window 8 in the direction of the opposite longitudinal edge, called the second longitudinal edge 12, of the window 8. The longitudinal edges of the window 8 therefore extend parallel to the longitudinal axis of the ring 3.
The free end 13 of the tongue 10 cleans, with the second longitudinal edge 12 of the window 8, a housing 27 inside which one of the lugs 9 of the female connector 2 is capable of being inserted, at the fitted state of female connector 2 and ring 3.
To facilitate the insertion of each lug 9 in its housing 27, the ring is provided, on its internal peripheral surface, face side 17 of introduction of the female connector 2 in the ring 3, with at least two notches 18 or grooves. In this case, here, four notches 18 are shown. Each notch 18 is associated with a window 8.
îo Each notch 18 is arranged axially aligned with one of the windows 8 of the ring, and forms an axial guide path inside which one of the lugs 9 of the female connector is capable of sliding during the fitting of the female connector 2 in the ring 3, to a position in which the lug 9 is in contact with bearing against the internal face, that is to say the face facing the inside of the ring, of the tongue 10 disposed inside the window 8. This detail of the position of the lug in contact with bearing against the tongue 10 is shown in FIG. 6.
Ring 3 and female connector 2 are, in this fitting position, able to be driven in relative rotation, to allow sliding of the lug 9 along the tongue 10 in the direction of the free end 13 of the tongue 10 until insertion of the lug 9 in the housing 27 formed between the second longitudinal edge of the window 8 and the free end 13 of the tongue 10.
This sliding of the lug 9 along the tongue 10 tends to separate the tongue 10 from its rest position in which the tongue 10 extends inside the window 8. In fact, the tongue 10 develops according to the circumferential direction of the ring 3 from its connection end to the first longitudinal edge of the window 8 towards the free end of the tongue, tending to bring it closer to the center of the ring. This tongue 10 is, in the inserted state of the lug 9 in its housing 27, resiliently returned to the rest position in which it prevents any exit of the lug 9 from its housing 27. In fact, in the inserted state of the lug 9 in its housing 27, the tongue 10 is released from any stress by the lug 9 and can therefore be brought back by its elastic force, in the rest position.
Again, the detail of this deformation of the tongue 10, under the action of the lug 9, until the lug 9 is locked by the tongue 10, is shown in FIGS. 7 and 8.
Disassembly for separation of the ring 3 and the female connector 2 becomes extremely difficult.
îo To avoid axial play between ring 3 and female connector 2, without affecting the possibility of deformation of the tongue, each window 8 of ring 3 has, at the level of associated tongue 10, a distance between its edges 23, 24 transverse greater than the distance between the transverse edges 23, 24 of the window 8 at the level of the housing 27 capable of receiving the lug 9.
The distance between the transverse edges 23, 24 of the window 8 at the level of the housing 27 capable of receiving the lug 9 is adjusted to the length of the lug 9 taken along the longitudinal axis of the ring.
Finally, the female connector 2 is provided, on its external peripheral surface, end side opposite its end 19 for connection to the ring 3, with notches 26 here of fir type. These notches 26 allow a connection by fitting of the female connector 2 with any pipe.
The means 5 for retaining the ring 3 at the male connector 30 comprise at least one, in this case here, two through openings 14 formed in the body of the ring 3 and a locking member 15 capable of acting through the openings 14 passing through the body of the ring 3 to be applied to the male connector 30 and to be inserted into the external peripheral groove 31 of the male connector 30.
The through openings 14 are arranged diametrically opposite on the body of the ring 3.
The locking member 15, for its part, takes the form of a staple in the general shape of a U, overlapping the openings 14 of the ring 3, in the position positioned on the ring 3, to protrude through the through openings 14 towards the inside of the body of the ring 3 and therefore act through the through openings 14 of the body of the ring 3 in order to apply to the male connector 30 and to be inserted in the groove 31 of the outer peripheral 30 male connector.
To help keep the locking member 15 in position on the ring 3, the through openings 14 are separated from each other by an external peripheral rail 16 forming a guide path for the locking member 15. This rail 16 is made in one piece with the ring 3. This rail is here formed of two parallel ribs each arranged in the extension of a longitudinal edge of the opening, this longitudinal edge of the opening extending along the circumferential direction of the ring.
To facilitate the fitting assembly of the male connector 30 and the ring 3 and to prevent any subsequent relative rotation between the ring 3 and the male connector 30 in the fitted state, the ring 3 is provided, on its internal peripheral surface, face side introduction of the male connector 30 into the ring 3, of at least one, in this case here two angular stops 25 each made in one piece with the ring 3.
The angular stops 25 are here arranged diametrically opposite on the internal peripheral surface of the ring, and are each in the form of an axial groove opening into the face of the ring used for the introduction of the male connector 30 into the ring .
Each groove is able to cooperate with an axial rib 32 formed on the external peripheral surface of the male connector 30, this axial rib 32 extending each time between the end of the male connector 30 opposite to that connecting to the ring 3 and the outer circumferential groove 31 of the fitting
30 male used for receiving the locking member 15.
Likewise, the through openings 14 of the ring 3 serving for receiving the locking member 15 are axially offset from the windows 8 of the ring 3, and are arranged between the windows 8 and the face of the ring 3 serving for the introduction of the male connector 30.
îo The assembly of the ring 3 and the male connector 30 therefore takes place as follows: the male connector 30 and the ring 3 are brought closer to each other by fitting the male connector 30 into the ring 3. This approximation takes place so that the rib 32 of the male connector 30 is aligned with the groove 25 of the ring 3. Once the ring 3 and the connector 30 fitted one inside the other, the locking member 15 is positioned astride the ring 3, at the level of the openings 14 passing through the ring 3, and the branches of the U of the locking member 15 are received through the openings 14 passing through in the external circumferential groove 31 of the male connector 30 .
To obtain a seal of such an assembly, a circular seal 7, in this case an O-ring, is housed inside the female connector 2 and held in the axial position by means of the ring 3 , in the fitted state of the ring 3 and the female connector 2.
To this end, the female connector 2 is provided, from its end 19 for connection to the ring 3 in the direction of its opposite end 20, with attachment to a pipe, at least two shoulders 21, 22 internal peripherals giving the connector 2 female interior staircase profile. The first peripheral shoulder 21 forms a seat for the seal 7. The second peripheral shoulder 22 is able to form an axial abutment of the male connector 30 in the fitted state of said male and female connectors 30 2.
The seal 7 is thus sandwiched between the internal peripheral shoulder 21 of the female connector 2 and an annular circular internal peripheral surface opposite the ring 3.
In practice, generally, the seal 17 is placed in the female connector 5, then the ring 3 and the female connector 2 are preassembled before being assembled to the male connector 30.
