Improvement of shoring towers.
The present invention relates, in general, an improvement to shoring towers; it also concerns the elements used for making this type of tower and in particular the frames.
The conventional shoring towers, as described in documents BE 618.429, FR 2 621 342, EP 1 067 253 and FR 2 879 638, for example, are intended, as their name suggests, for the shoring of formwork slabs, beams, etc.
These towers are essentially made up of a base which acts as a starting platform and, on this base, a whole series of frames is installed and assembled to form a supporting structure made up of posts and vertical panels.
In addition to their fundamental function of vertical load recovery, shoring towers are more and more often used for the construction of a workstation in the upper part of the tower. This evolution of the towers cannot be done other than in compliance with the safety rules, which are also increasingly demanding.
For this type of material, the cost, resistance, weight, equipment, as well as the time required for assembly, are always of great importance.
The present invention provides a shoring tower which fully meets the safety conditions which are required for all types of use, that is to say for conventional use as a shoring tower or for a tower which allows install a workstation with decking, in the upper part of the tower or between towers.
To achieve this result and to overcome all the constraints related to security and the rapidity of setting up the tower, the invention proposes an original implementation and a combination of all the particularities brought over time to this type of material.
Thus, the tower according to the invention comprises a monobloc frame which integrates all of the security elements; this solution makes it possible to limit the number of parts to be assembled, to simplify the assembly of the tower and to guarantee the effective installation of all the security elements.
The number of different elements which constitute the tower is reduced to its simplest expression and each element is provided with all that is appropriate, either in safety equipment, or in equipment necessary for its assembly, to obtain, ultimately, a tower monobloc, in one piece, which can therefore be moved on a site by means of a lifting device, for example.
The shoring tower according to the invention consists of frames which are provided with assembly means for joining together side by side, horizontally, and by superposition, vertically, each frame comprising a tubular upright, a horizontal rail upper and a diagonal acting as bracing, and said assembly means consist of:
-for the vertical assembly, on each upright and at its lower part, of a sleeve comprising at least one locking light of the 1/8 turn type and, at its upper part, of at least one pin which is centered on an axis making an angle with the axis of said beam, which (at least one) pin being able to be introduced into said sleeve of the upper adjacent upright and to cooperate with the corresponding locking lumen, which interlocking system and locking device is of the type described in particular in document LR 2 216 845,
- for horizontal assembly, of a stirrup arranged laterally on each upright, at the level of said horizontal rail and, on the free end of said rail, of a hook system of the type with automatic anchoring as described in the document LR 2 513 290, which stirrup being disposed on the side of the upright, facing the end of the beam of the adjacent frame, which upright comprises:
- On the one hand, a sleeve arranged to allow the frame to pivot beyond its normal locking position, to place the free end of the heddle outside the plane of said tower in which said frame is normally located , which complementary pivoting is limited to an angle of a few degrees to avoid, during the mounting of the frames, any interference between said free end of the arm of the first frame installed and in particular with the stirrup of the upright of the last frame installed, which stirrup locking with said free end,
- on the other hand, several stirrups, arranged at the same level as the stirrup cooperating with said hook system of the heddle, which stirrups being arranged at a distance from said stud (s) which is sufficient to allow, after the superposition of two frames in particular, the assembly and disassembly, at any time, and, as necessary, of diagonals and / or bassinet on said stirrups in order to install connections and bracing between towers and / or decks which form a real post of Work at Height.
According to a preferred arrangement of the invention, the complementary pivoting angle of the frame with respect to its normal position in the plane of the tower, is of the order of 3 °.
Still according to the invention, the complementary pivoting angle of the frame is obtained by an angular offset of the orientation of the tax of the light (s), relative to the tax of the stringer, which axis of the light (s) makes an angle of the order of 48 ° relative to said axis of the arm.
Still according to the invention, the frame intrinsically comprises a ladder shaped between the upright, the top rail and the diagonal, which ladder comprises a lower rung which extends between said upright and the diagonal and an upper rung which s 'extends between said amount and an amount reported between said top rail and said diagonal.
According to another arrangement of the invention, the frame comprises, under the diagonal, in the plane of said frame, a sub-rail in the form of a square, integral with said diagonal, one branch of which is parallel to the upright and the other of which branch is parallel to the top rail, so as to close the space under said diagonal for safety reasons.
Still according to the invention, the frame is shaped with welded metal tubes, the sections of which are chosen to maintain said frame with a weight of the order of twelve kilograms.
According to another arrangement of the invention, the tower comprises legs in the form of screw jacks of the captive type, the body of which, in the form of a tube, is provided, on the one hand, with the nut cooperating with the screw and, on the other hand, pins capable of cooperating with the sleeve of the frame with which said base is associated, said screw comprising, at its lower end, a plate for bearing on the ground, said plate being integral with said end of the screw at by means of a partial connection with freedom in rotation, said rotation of the screw being obtained by maneuvering means of the handle type, for adjusting and plumbing the tower.
Still according to the invention, the frame upright and the base tube preferably comprise two pins which are arranged diametrically opposite the upper part of said tube, which pins cooperate with the lights which are arranged around the periphery of the sleeve of the associated frame, which lights are preferably four in number, regularly distributed around the periphery of said sleeve.
According to another arrangement of the invention, the upper part of the base tube comprises, under the pins, four stirrups which allow, on the one hand, the installation of the bassinet which serve to develop the base, or platform, of said tower and, on the other hand, the installation of bracing diagonals or connecting moses, not shown, connecting adjacent towers.
Still according to the invention, the base comprises stirrups arranged at a distance from the pins which is sufficient to allow, after the installation of a frame, the mounting and dismounting, at any time, and, as required, diagonals and / or bassinet on said stirrups.
The invention will be further detailed with the aid of the following description and the appended drawings, given for information only, and in which:

- Figure 6 is a section, also, of the upper part of the upright of the frame, at the location of the pins which cooperate with the lumen of the skirt of the sleeve;
- Figure 7 shows four frames being assembled, seen from above and, in particular, the position occupied by the first frame installed, at the time of the installation of the last frame and before its assembly with the latter;
- Figure 8 shows the assembly of two uprights as well as the installation of bassinet which ensure, for example, the connection with other towers;
- Figure 9 is an elevation of a base used with the frames according to the invention.
The spreading tower 1 shown in Figure 1 is developed from the frames 2 which are shown in Figure 2.
This tower 1 includes legs 3, which are shown in Figure 9 and which will be detailed below; these legs 3 serve as the basis for the posts 4 of said tower, which posts rise as the frames 2 are stacked.
The legs 3 are interconnected by bassinet 5 which makes it possible to establish a sort of base for the tower and these bassinet 5 also offer the possibility of installing a floor 6.
The tower is shaped by the installation of frames 2 on the corresponding legs 3 and these frames 2 are assembled together, side by side, horizontally, and stage by stage, vertically.
The installer can position, as the tower 1 is developed, another floor 7, or more, as the case may be, and, ultimately, the tower receives equipment such as jacks 8 which serve as supports for formwork beams 9 or equipment of the console type (s), not shown, for the installation of a work station.
The complementary floor (s) 7 are placed directly on the frames 2 or, as the case may be, on consoles or on bassinet used for bonding towers.
The frame 2, shown in Figure 2, is in the form of a right triangle and it includes:
- an upright 10 of tubular shape,
a top horizontal rail 11, also tubular,
- a diagonal 12 which acts as bracing, also of tubular shape.
The upright 10 has, at its lower part, a sleeve 13 which is arranged to fit on the upper part of the upright 10 of a lower frame 2 or, as detailed below, on a base 3.
The fitting of the sleeves 13 on the upper part of the lower upright 10 makes it possible to constitute real posts 4 arranged at each angle of the tower 1; the uprights 10, in the form of tubes, rest directly on each other.
The assembly and locking system of the uprights 10 relative to each other, will be detailed later in conjunction with Figures 5 and 6.
The frame 2 is in one piece, as shown in Figure 2; it integrates all of the security elements which limits the number of parts to be assembled, simplifies the assembly of the tower and guarantees the installation of the security elements.
We note, in fact, the presence of equipment of the ladder type, shaped directly on the frame 2. This ladder is integrated between the upright 10, the heddle 11 and the diagonal 12, and it comprises, on the one hand, a upper rung 14 installed between the upright 10 and an additional upright 15 which is parallel to said upright 10, which additional upright 15 extends between the heddle 11 and the diagonal 12, and, on the other hand, a lower rung 16 which s' extends between the upright 10 and said diagonal 12, for example.
With the rail 11 and the two rungs 14 and 16, the installer has a ladder for going up or down inside the tower.
Still Figure 2, we also note the presence of a sub-rail 17, in the form of a square, fixed under the diagonal 12, in the plane of the frame 2, which square includes a branch 18 which is parallel to the upper rail 11 and a branch 19 which is parallel to the upright 10. This sub-rail 17 makes it possible to fill the space under the diagonal 12 to ensure the safety of the installer, in particular.
The first frame 2, which is installed at the level of the legs 3, may not include a sub-stringer 17 to facilitate the passage of the installer towards the interior of the tower.
Preferably, the frame 2 is shaped with welded metal tubes whose sections are chosen to maintain it with a relatively modest weight, of the order of twelve kilograms.
The frames 2 are secured to each other, at each level, by assembly means which are arranged, on the one hand, at the upper and lower ends of the upright 10 and, on the other hand, at the end free from the top rail 11 and, in a way, from the diagonal 12.
These frames 2 are secured to each other side by side by horizontal level, by means of an automatic fastening device, of the type described in the document FR 2 513 290 mentioned above.
This automatic attachment device comprises a system 20 with a captive and tilting hook which is situated at the free end of the heddle 11, which system with a hook 20 cooperates with a stirrup 21 which is arranged on the appropriate side of the adjacent upright 10.
Thus assembled, the heddles 11 of the different frames 2 form a horizontal belt which can accommodate, as shown in FIG. 1, a floor 7.
In its basic form, the tower has four frames 2 to form each level and the different levels, or stages, are assembled vertically to each other by means of a locking interlocking device of the type described in the document FR 2,216,845 supra. This assembly device includes in particular the sleeves 13, which have been discussed previously, which are located at the bottom of the uprights 10.
Each sleeve 13 comprises - an upper part whose section is cylindrical and welded to the upright 10, and - a lower part in the form of a skirt 22 which fits on the upper part of the lower adjacent upright 10.
This skirt 22 is shown in Figure 5; its section is square with widely rounded angles and its internal perimeter is shaped so as to fit on the upper part of the adjacent lower upright.
The skirt 22 includes lights 23 which are, for example, arranged on its four faces. These slots 23 cooperate with pins 24 arranged on the upper part of the adjacent lower upright 10.
Figure 6 shows the presence of two pins 24 which are arranged diametrically opposite on the amount 10. These pins 24 are in the form of cylindrical pellets welded to the periphery of the amount 10; they are inserted into the skirt 22 of the sleeve 13, when said sleeve 13 fits on the upper end of the upright 10 of the lower frame and, after a pivoting, or rotation, of an amplitude of one eighth of a turn , the pins 24 penetrate into the openings 23 of said skirt 22, producing an assembly and a locking of the two uprights 10 concerned.
The presence of two pins 24, facing the four lights 23, is sufficient to obtain the locking of the uprights between them and, also, the locking of the base 3 which will be discussed a little later. For their installation, each frame 2 is first of all placed inside the perimeter of the tower 1 then, after fitting its sleeve 13 on the base 3 or on the upright of the lower adjacent frame 2, the installer does so rotate an eighth of a turn to place it in their normal position or in an appropriate position as detailed below.
Figure 7 shows, seen from above, the position of the frames 2 during their assembly and, in particular, before the final assembly of the last frame installed and the first frame installed. In fact, during the tower mounting operation, the installer places a first frame 26 on the platform which has been prepared in advance with the legs 3 and the bassinet 4, then he puts a second frame 27 whose hook system 20 cooperates with the corresponding stirrup 21 of said first frame 26; then, the installer places a third frame 28 which is secured to the second frame 27 by means of his hook system 20 on the stirrup 21 of said second frame 27 and, finally, he presents and places the last frame 29 which, too , is secured to the adjacent frame 28 by means of said hook system 20.
To avoid problems of interference between the hook system 20 of the first frame 26 with the upright 10 of the last frame 29 and, in particular, with the bracket 21, it can be seen, in Figure 7, that the first frame 26 occupies a position particular; it is positioned, at the time of its installation, towards the outside of the tower, that is to say it is positioned, by pivoting, so as to make an angle a with the plane of the corresponding face of the tower, before being definitively assembled, in its normal assembly position, that is to say in said plane of the corresponding face of the tower.
This complementary pivoting of the first frame 26 towards the outside of the tower, makes it possible to avoid any interference with the last frame 29, during its assembly; this pivoting of the first frame 26 makes an angle a of about three degrees, that is to say an angle sufficient to avoid discomfort, for the installer, during the mounting of the last frame 29.
When the last frame 29 is in place, that is to say fitted on the upright 10 of the lower frame and it is secured to the third frame 28 by its hook system 20, the installer can then bring back the first frame 26 in the normal plane which corresponds to that of the face of the tower for making the hook system 20 of this first frame 26 cooperate with the appropriate stirrup 21 of the last frame 29.
The complementary pivot angle of the first frame 26 is obtained by an angular offset of the orientation of the axis 33 of the aperture (s) 23, relative to the plane of the frame which corresponds to the axis xx 'of the heald 11 , as shown in figure 5.
Indeed, the angle A of the axis 34 of the pins 24 relative to this axis xx ’of the heald 11 is 45 °, as shown in Figure 6.
To obtain this complementary pivoting of the frame 2, it can be seen, in FIG. 5, that the axis 33 of the lights 23 makes an angle (A + a) with respect to said axis xx 'of the heald 11, that is to say a angle of the order of 48 °, which axis 33 of said slots 23 coincides, in this configuration, with the axis 34 of the pins 24 when they are in abutment at the bottom of said slots 23.
Note, Figure 3, the presence of several stirrups around the upright 10. There is the stirrup 21 which cooperates with the hook system 20 located at the end of the heddle 11 and two other stirrups 21 ', one of which is in the extension of said rail 11 and the other is opposite the stirrup 21, on the other side of the upright 10. All these stirrups 21 and 21 ′ are located at the same level on the upright 10, that is to say i.e. at the level of the arm 11.
The complementary stirrups 21 ′ make it possible to install, as shown in FIG. 8, additional bassinet 35 to make a connection between two or more towers with the possibility of installing a deck, for example.
Figure 9 shows a base 3 used for the development of the tower 1. This base 3 is in the form of a screw type cylinder 37. The nut 38, which cooperates with the screw 37, is integral with 'a tube 39 which acts as a support for the uprights 10 and this tube 39 comprises a pair of pins 24', like those which are arranged at the upper part of the upright 10 of the frames 2.
The tube 39 preferably comprises four stirrups 21 which allow, on the one hand, the installation of the bassinet 5 which serve to develop the base, or platform, of the tower 1 and, on the other hand, to install bracing diagonals or connecting sills, not shown, between adjacent towers.
The tube 39 is locked like the uprights 10, at the sleeve 13 of the frame 2 which is installed on the base 3, that is to say that the pins 24 'of said tube 39 cooperate with the lights 23 of the skirt 22 of said sleeve 13.
At its lower end, the screw 37 has a plate 40 which constitutes the ground support surface. This plate 40 is secured to the lower end of the screw 37 by means of a partial connection, which is free to rotate. The screw 37 comprises, in fact, operating means 41, of the handle type, which make it possible to adjust the position of the tube 39 relative to the ground.
It is noted, with this design of the base 3 and of the frame 2, that the tower 1 forms a one-piece assembly as and when the different frames are placed 2. This one-piece tower 1 can easily be moved as it is, with its different legs 3 which are captive.
We also note, in Figures 2, 4 and 9, that the stirrups 21 are located at a certain distance D from the pins 24, 24 ’. This distance D between the upper part of the stirrups 21 and the pins 24, 24 ', is chosen so as to obtain, after the fitting of the sleeve 13 on the upper part of an upright 10 or on the tube 39, respectively, a distance d, Figure 4, which is sufficient to allow the installation of complementary bassinet 35, as shown in Figure 8, or bracing diagonals.
This distance d must, in particular, also be sufficient to allow the installation or disassembly of bassinet 35 or the like which includes a hook system 20 such as that which is disposed at the end of the heddle 11 of the frames 2.
The assembly of the tower begins with the making of the base which includes legs 3 and bassinet 5. Given the presence of two pins 24 only on the tube 39 of the base 3, the axis 34 of these pins can take two angular positions relative to the plane of one or other of the frames 2.
This angular feature makes it necessary to provide for the presence of four slots 23 at the level of the sleeve 13 of each upright 10; failing this, that is to say in the case of the presence of only two lights 23, the frame 2 mounted on the base 3 would necessarily take the orientation of the latter with a one in two chance of being misaligned with respect to the tower.
