5 TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an exterior cleaning machine in wind turbine towers, and the associated cleaning procedure; which are located within the renewable energy sector of the wind type, as! as in the conservation and maintenance of said aeroenerators.
The main purpose of the exterior cleaning machine in wind turbine towers object of the invention is to be able to clean the exterior surface of a mast of a wind turbine in a completely automated way, without the need for vertical work by qualified operators and, therefore, , eliminating the risk of occupational accidents towards these operators, and guaranteeing at all times an efficient, fast, safe and versatile cleaning for any type of mast existing in the wind turbines currently used.
20 BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
By way of introduction, the problem related to the maintenance and cleaning of wind turbines is known both in the blades and in the mast itself; since due to the vertical and high-rise construction of the wind turbines themselves, as! as the location where they are located, which is usually difficult access areas such as mountain peaks or mantima areas; its maintenance and cleaning requires highly qualified operators and very specific techniques to carry out these maintenance and cleaning tasks successfully.
30 In this sense, the most commonly used technique for exterior cleaning in wind turbine towers consists of vertical work by expert operators, which have a lifeline as well! as a hoist type anchoring system that supports said operator from the top of the mast, known as nacelle, to the base of the mast itself; in this way, the operator precedes to detach and clean the outer surface 35 of the mast by means of pressurized guns or similar cleaning means. where said technique presents a series of drawbacks:
- First and foremost, it refers to the workers' own safety, since vertical jobs present a high risk of falls or blows with the mast itself, since in the areas above the mast the existing wind can result of a great intensity, both for the height of the mast itself and the location where the wind turbine is located, which is strategically defined to have the maximum amount of wind energy possible.
- Secondly, the high cost of employing two or more operators responsible for performing such maintenance and cleaning tasks, in addition to the specific cleaning equipment associated with it, stands out.
- Finally, the slow response capacity towards the owner of the wind turbine stands out, since it depends on the availability of the operators of the external maintenance and cleaning companies themselves.
To solve part of this problem, the use of wind turbine cleaning helicopters is known, which have a tank with cleaning products inside them, as well as one or more pressurized guns controlled by operators from inside the helicopter, generally; where this alternative of maintenance and cleaning although it is possible to avoid the risk in safety and health of the operators, since the vertical works as such are suppressed, it presents other inconveniences such as:
- The cost of using a helicopter for these maintenance tasks is very high, both for the helicopter rental itself, the fuel, the pilot and at least one employee more responsible for cleaning said wind turbine.
- The risk of approaching a helicopter to a wind turbine, which, as indicated above, is located in windy areas that can give rise to air currents that hinder the helicopter's flight, and with it the safety of its occupants
- Finally, the slow response capacity towards the owner of the wind turbine is highlighted again, since it depends on the availability of the helicopter as! as of the pilot and the operators of the external maintenance and cleaning companies themselves.
That is why, in view of the inconvenience that exists during the maintenance and cleaning of wind turbine towers, the appearance of a new exterior cleaning machine in wind turbine towers capable of solving the problem is necessary.
previous problems, so that it does not require vertical work by operators, avoiding to the maximum possible risks of occupational accidents; that does not require a high cost of acquisition or maintenance of the machine itself object of the invention, so that several machines can be available in nearby areas guaranteeing its prompt 5 response capacity towards the owner of the wind turbine; that additionally it can clean any type of outer surface of the wind turbine mast in a fast and efficient way; and all this with a simple cleaning machine, easy installation and maintenance, and economically competitive with regard to the state of the art known to date.
10
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an exterior cleaning machine in wind turbine towers, these towers being metallic and formed by materials such as steel 15 in order to take advantage of the magnetic properties of the magnets present in the cleaning machine, which is coupled to some lifting means in a parallel direction with respect to the outer surface of a mast of a wind turbine; and where said machine comprises:
- at least one flexible roller configured to come into contact with part of the surface 20 of a mast of a wind turbine;
- a plurality of magnets facing part of the outer surface of the mast, and configured to attract the machine with respect to said mast;
- at least one deposit configured to house a cleaning product;
- a plurality of rolling means between the structure and said mast; Y
25 - remote control means of the lifting movement of said machine associated with the
lifting means.
As can be seen, the machine object of the invention has, on the one hand, a series of lifting means parallel to the outer surface of the mast; so that thanks to 30 said lifting means the machine can move vertically along the entire mast. On the other hand, the machine presents a series of physical entities configured for the maintenance and cleaning of the wind turbine tower, and where part of said physical entities are associated with remote control means to guarantee the automated operation of the machine itself without the employment of vertical jobs by 35 operators.
Said essential physical entities are, in the first place, at least one flexible roller, which is responsible for coming into contact with part of the surface of a mast of a wind turbine and proceeding to the removal of surface dirt that may remain adhered to. the surface of said mast. And to ensure that the machine is in the vicinity of the outer surface of the mast, and thereby ensure that said flexible roller is in permanent contact with the surface of the mast, the existence of a plurality of magnets facing part of the outer surface of the mast, which are configured to attract the machine with respect to said mast through 10 magnetic phenomena; understanding that part of the material of the mast is metallic in order to attract the machine towards the mast through the magnetic attraction of the magnets and the metal surface of said mast.
The use of magnets ensures that, regardless of the environmental and meteorological conditions existing in the area near the wind turbine, the machine is always in permanent contact with the mast. Being able to highlight the possibility that the plurality of magnets are associated with a source of electrical energy, to achieve a variable magnetic induction between the magnets and the metal surface of the mast, which can be intensified depending on an increase in wind speed reigning, etc.
twenty
Next, and in order to ensure that the machine object of the invention can move through the surface of the mast, and thanks to the lifting means indicated above, the existence of a plurality of rolling means between the structure and said mast is described, being able to be wheels or rollers, perfectly manipulated and of easy arrangement or replacement in case of breakdown of these.
Likewise, and to guarantee a thorough and efficient cleaning of the outer surface of the mast, the use of at least one tank configured to house a cleaning product is described; see for example a detergent and / or an antifoam, located in this example of realization, in two tanks in the machine itself. So thanks to said, at least one roller and the use of the cleaning product, perfect finishes are achieved quickly and safely.
Finally, and in relation to the essential entities of the exterior cleaning machine 35 object of the invention, the existence of the use of remote control means of the

lifting movement of said machine associated with the lifting means; so that an operator can control, remotely, the movement of up and down of the machine itself from a safe position and away from possible accidents during its manipulation.
With this it is possible to eliminate the inconveniences referred to the state of the art mentioned above, since:
- In the first place, and remembered as the most important problem to correct, it is that it is possible to suppress the use of vertical works by operators; and this eliminates the risk of coffee or accidents.
- In the second place, the use of the machine itself and a single operator to remotely manipulate it is highlighted, being therefore the lower labor cost compared to manual cleaning and maintenance, and much more with respect to the use of cleaning helicopters .
- Finally, and thanks to the simplicity of the entities that form the machine object of the invention, the rapid response capacity towards the owner of the wind turbine stands out.
In relation to a preferred option of execution, the possibility is highlighted that the lifting means comprise a motorized hoist anchored on one side to the top of the mast, on the other hand to the base of the mast; and coupled in turn to the mobile structure. Giving rise to a known, safe and perfectly controllable lifting mechanism through a motor placed in the lower or upper part of the mast. It is necessary to check that all the anchors are correctly fixed and secured to avoid detachment of the machine during its vertical ascent / descent.
In order to be able to remotely control also the moment of cleaning of the surface of the mast by the operator, the option is described in which said, at least one, deposit is associated with a pumping element of the cleaning product to be housed in inside said tank, and controlled said pumping through remote control means. Thus, until the machine is not completely positioned with respect to the mast, the operator does not act on the remote control and is the one who decides when to proceed to pump the cleaning product on said flexible roller.
It should be noted that when the use of remote control means is described, these are
preferentially control from a single checkpoint, and by the same operator, and through a control with a frequency inverter.
In this regard, the possibility that said at least one flexible roller is coupled to a motor configured to rotate said flexible roller through its axis of revolution is highlighted; and controlled said rotation through remote control means. In this way the operator can control both the lifting movement of the machine (up and down speed), the pumping of the cleaning product, as well as the rotation of the flexible roller, guaranteeing optimum cleaning of the wind turbine mast surface , and in a safe, simple and perfectly adaptable way to any type of wind turbine.
It should be noted that said, at least one, flexible cylinder may be formed by a plurality of deformable plastic bristles, and where the cylinder itself has a revolution geometry formed by two facing trunks of cone, its bases being 15 larger located at the ends of the roller, in this way the central part is narrower than the ends, and allows its adaptability to different geometries of the outer surface of the mast to be cleaned.
Paying attention to the accumulation of cleaning product on said roller, the option is contemplated in which the machine object of the invention comprises a sponge located in the vicinity of said at least one flexible roller; and configured to absorb part of the cleaning product retained in said at least one flexible roller. And where, additionally, said sponge can be coupled to an engine configured to alternately displace said sponge with respect to the static position of the axis of revolution of the flexible roller, and controlled said alternative movement through remote control means; providing a greater degree of control by the qualified operator, located remotely with respect to the location of the machine.
In order to be able to clean part of the dirty cleaning product, the option is described in which the machine comprises a retractable lip located in the vicinity of said, at least one, flexible roller; which has two operating positions:
- a first cleaning position, in which the retractable lip is in contact with the surface of the mast; Y
- a waiting position, in which the retractable lip is separated a distance 35 from the surface of the mast. And where again, the movement of the retractable lip
It can also be done remotely through the aforementioned remote control means.
Taking into account that the already dirty cleaning product can be poured onto the surface 5 of the mast, the possibility is contemplated that the machine itself object of the invention comprises a receptacle located inferiorly with respect to said at least one flexible roller; and configured to collect waste products after cleaning the mast by gravitational action; in this way, thanks to the fact that the receptacle is below said flexible roller, and taking into account that the cleaning is vertical, the waste product falls gravitationally towards the receptacle, being able to clean and empty it after the cleaning and maintenance operations of said mast.
In order to avoid unwanted projections of the cleaning product and due to the rotating movement of the roller itself, the preferred option is described in which said at least one roller comprises a projection protection screen, and said screen configured to direct the cleaning product used towards the lower receptacle; where said screen is located next to the flexible roller itself, and at its rear in the direction of its rotational movement.
20 Finally, and in relation to guaranteeing extraordinary safety measures, the possibility is contemplated that the machine comprises a safety system against failures of the lifting means, where said safety system has at least one anchored cable on the one hand to the machine and on the other hand to the top of the mast.
25
It should be noted that all physical entities described above, and located on the machine itself object of the invention, must be located on a frame that binds and positions them, which can be a multitubular frame, lattice, metal plates, etc. Which must be mechanically resistant to be able to be lifted with respect to said lifting means, and resistant in relation to external environmental agents produced by cleaning products, rains, etc.
Likewise, and in relation only to the main entities that make up the exterior cleaning machine object of the invention, we proceed to describe a procedure for exterior cleaning in wind turbine towers, according to said machine, which comprises
the following stages:
a) couple the machine to the corresponding lifting means with respect to the wind turbine mast;
b) position the machine in the vicinity of the outer surface of the mast, facing 5 the plurality of magnets with respect to said surface, attracting the machine to the surface
of the mast through the existing magnetic forces; and the rolling means coming into contact with said mast surface;
c) injecting the cleaning product onto said at least one flexible roller;
d) rotating said at least one flexible roller in contact with part of the mast surface; and 10 e) actuate, by means of the remote control means, the lifting of said machine.
Stressing that depending on the rest of the optional entities that are included, alternative stages of driving the rollers, retractile lip, sponge, etc. are added.
15 Thus, with the proposed invention an external cleaning machine is obtained in wind turbine towers capable of being able to clean in an automated way the outer surface of a wind turbine mast, without the need to perform vertical work by qualified operators and, therefore, eliminating the risk of occupational accidents towards these operators, in addition to guaranteeing at all times an effective, fast, safe and versatile cleaning for any type of mast existing in the wind turbines currently used.
