DESCRIPTION
Racket, particularly paddle racket with decoration.
Field of the Invention
The invention relates to a racket, which allows hitting a ball, intended in particular for the paddle game.
State of the art
The paddle is a ball game that is played with a racket without strings, whose hitting zone is solid or almost solid.
In fact, the striking zone usually has through holes. The paddle game is played on a field separated by a net and surrounded by walls, the ball must bounce on the ground and can also bounce on the walls.
At the level of the striking zone formed by the string or the head of the racket, the paddle rackets are generally composed of several layers consisting of a central core of thermoplastic foam or elastomeric material surrounded by one and another part of layers of materials compounds, as in ES 2 060 475.
In this case, the striking surface is constituted by the resin used to impregnate the layers of composite materials. The drawback of this type of structure is that the layers of compounds are directly subjected to the impact of the ball and can deteriorate rapidly.
In general, rackets of this type are then decorated above the layers of compounds, using screen printing for example. Also, the decoration is fixed on the outer surfaces of the racket and wears out quickly. In effect, it deteriorates rapidly by the impact of the ball.
In addition, this stage of decoration is done after the molding of the racket and, therefore, lengthens the manufacturing time and complicates the fabrication.

Therefore, to remedy these inconveniences, the aim of the invention is to propose a paddle racket with a decoration protected from the impacts of the ball and the outside environment.
Another objective of the invention is to simplify the manufacture of the paddle racket.
More precisely, the invention relates to a paddle racket comprising a head and a handle, characterized in that a part of its outer surface is formed by a protection element comprising at least one transparent or translucent part that covers a decoration element in order to make the decoration element visible.
According to some advantageous but not mandatory aspects of the invention, the racket according to the invention can incorporate one or more of the following characteristics.
The racket can comprise a decoration element positioned between two layers of the structure that forms the racket.
The racket may comprise at least one element of composite materials and the decoration element is positioned between the element of composite materials and the protection element.
The decoration element can be applied directly to the inner face of the protection element by screen printing or pad printing or sublimation or inkjet.
The decoration element can be placed on a support and be secured to the inner layer of the protection element by means of an adhesive layer.
The support can be made of plastic or metal material.
The support can be a self-adhesive.
The racket may comprise an element of composite materials consisting of a layer of composite materials parallel to the striking surface.
The decoration element may be positioned between the layer of composite materials and the protection element that forms the striking surface.
5 The racket may comprise an element of composite materials consisting of a hollow tube that forms the perimeter of the racket.
The decoration element may be positioned between the hollow tube and the protection element located on the edge of the racket.
10
The racket may comprise a head consisting of a central core coated on either side and successively by the layer of composite materials, the decoration element and the protection element.
15 The protection element of the front and rear faces of the racket can be extended over each of the faces to the side edges of the head to form the entire striking surface.
The protection element of the front face and the protection element of the rear face 20 can cover the side edge of the racket forming the perimeter of the head and join at the level of a joint line.
The decorated protection element of the racket can be obtained from the protection element on which it is fixed, at least one decoration element.
25
The racket manufacturing process may comprise the following steps:
two decorated protection elements are positioned in the racket mold, one facing the bottom of the mold and the other facing the mold cover, the 30 decoration elements facing the inside of the mold, these two protection elements being decorated separated by the stack formed by a layer of composite materials (9a), a core (8) and another layer of composite materials (9b).

Brief description of the drawings
These objectives, characteristics and advantages of the present invention will be set forth in detail in the following description of a particular embodiment and of a variant, in a non-limiting manner and represented by the attached figures:
Figure 1 is a front view of a racket according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a partial section according to AA representing only the head of the racket.
Figure 3 is a variant embodiment in a view similar to Figure 2.
Detailed description of detailed embodiments of the invention
In Figures 2 and 3, the proportions between the height and width of the racket head are not real to better visualize the different layers present inside the racket structure.
As illustrated in Figure 1, the racket according to the invention comprises a head 1 that forms the striking zone intended to receive the impact of the ball. The perimeter of the head 1 of the racket forms the edge of the racket. The head 1 is attached in its lower part to a handle 2, intended to be held by the hand by the player. Between the head 1 and the handle 2 is located the area of the racket bridge, substantially triangular in shape. Obviously, the racket comprises two striking surfaces, a face in the front and a face in the back. In the case of figure 1, only the front striking surface can be seen.
The head 1 is constituted by a peripheral frame 3 and an inner body 4.
The peripheral frame 3 is constituted by a hollow tube constituted by a sheath of composite material on its outer face and by an extendable plastic sheath on its inner surface. This hollow tube therefore has a hole 5 and allows a sufficiently light racket to be obtained. The tube forms the side edges 12a, 12b of the racket on the front and rear faces of the racket as well as the side edge 13 located on the edge of the racket. The two ends of the hollow tube join

continuation to form the internal structure of the handle 2 of the racket.
This lateral edge 13 can be of a width between 10 and 30 mm for example.
The inner body 4 has through holes 7 distributed on the striking surface. As a variant, the racket could, however, have non-through holes or even have no holes.
The head 1 of the racket has on its two outer faces a protection element 10a, 10b which extends from the center of the racket head to the lateral edges 12a, 12b, and thus covers! the entire striking surface and therefore finally forms the striking surface on which the ball bounces. The protection element 10a forms the front face of the racket, used when a right hit occurs, while the protection element 10b forms the rear face of the racket, used when a back hit occurs.
The racket shown in Figure 1 has a circular decoration element 6a visible through the protection layer 10a and positioned under the protection layer 10a. Also on the other side, the racket has a circular decoration element 6b visible through the protection layer 10b and positioned under the protection layer 10b. The decoration element can be visible by the fact that the protection element that covers it is transparent or translucent at least in the area of the decoration element.
In other words, the protection element can be completely transparent or translucent, over its entire surface and in all its thickness, or only partially transparent. In this case, the protection element may have opaque areas outside the area that covers the decoration element.
The decoration element could not be circular but as a variant it could have any other simple or complex geometric shape. The decoration element could exist only on one side or even, the decoration elements of the two faces could be geometrically shaped or of different colors. On one side, several decoration elements could also be provided without departing from the scope of the invention.

In the manner illustrated, the protection elements 10a, 10b directly and respectively cover the decoration elements 6a, 6b. As a variant, the protection element could indirectly cover the decoration element, that is to say that the decoration element could be positioned at a level closer to the plane of symmetry P of the racket without being in contact with the inner face of the protection element , leaving it visible from the outside at the same time.
The internal structure of the inner body 4 of the racket is schematized in Figure 2.
This structure is composed of a core 8 in the central part, covered on its two faces by a layer of composite materials 9a, 9b, also coated on its external faces by a protective element 10a, 10b.
Between the outer face of the composite layer 9a and the inner face of the protection element 10a a decoration element 6a is positioned. Also on the other side of the racket, between the outer face of the layer of composite materials 9b and the inner face of the protection element 10b a decoration element 6b is positioned.
The protection element 10a, 10b is preferably transparent or at least locally transparent to make the decoration element 6a, 6b or a part of the decoration element visible from the outside of the racket.
In particular, the material used for this protection element 10a, 10b may be polyurethane and / or acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, or ABS, preferably transparent or translucent or any other material known in the prior art and having transparency properties.
Preferably, a mixture of thermoplastic polyurethane and ABS will be chosen, this mixture having good frictional wear resistance, scratch resistance, elastic deformation and good resistance to the effect of U.V., or ultraviolet. In addition, this mixture gives the racket good bouncing and damping properties of the ball.
Each face could comprise one or more decoration elements 6a, 6b, located in

symmetrical manner with respect to the median plane P of the racket or even positioned asymmetrically. As a variant, you could decorate a single face with one or more decoration elements.
The decoration element 6a, 6b, is preferably carried out directly on the inner face of the protection element 10a, 10b by hot marking, by screen printing, by pad printing, by inkjet or by sublimation techniques, or any dissolution of marking known in the prior art. Decoration 8 can be made from mixtures of colors and / or by four colors.
The decoration element 6 can be arranged on a plastic or metal support secured to the inner face of the protection element 9 by means of an adhesive interconnection layer. In particular, this support can be self-adhesive. Preferably, this support is chosen thin and flexible.
The decoration element can be flat and thin, as in the case of an ink, or of the decorated support or it can have a certain relief, as for example in the case of a decoration element consisting of a metal grid or a piece of perforated plastic.
In known manner, the core 8 is composed of a plastic foam, in particular thermoplastic such as an ethyl vinyl acetal foam or EVA, or possibly a polyurethane foam.
The composite layers 9a, 9b are composed of one or more sheets of synthetic fibers, such as glass and / or carbon and / or aramid fibers, including natural fibers, impregnated with a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin. The fibers can be unidirectional fabrics or fabrics with oriented and crossed fibers.
According to Figure 2, the protection elements 10a, 10b cover all the striking, front and rear surfaces, and stop at the level of the lateral edges 12a, 12b of the head 1 of the racket, without covering the side edge 13.
According to the variant of Figure 3, the protection elements 10a, 10b extend over the lateral edge 13 of the racket head 1, joining the two front and rear parts, respectively 10a and 10b of the protection element 10a level of a lmea

of union 11 located substantially in the middle plane P of the racket. Eventually, a protection band, not shown, could be added to cover the lateral edge 13 and in particular the connecting line 11. This protection band could be constituted by the same material as the protection element or by other plastic materials for example . The joint line 11 can be very narrow in the case where the protection elements 10a and 10b come edge to edge or wider if there is a space between the two edges of the protection elements 10a and 10b. As a variant, the joint line 11 could be displaced with respect to the middle plane P, towards one of the striking planes. According to Figure 3, a supplementary decoration element 6c is positioned between the protection element 10b and the hollow tube 3.
On the other hand, the outer surface of the protection element 10a, 10b may be smooth or may comprise a fine structure to allow more effect on the ball.
The invention also relates to the manufacturing process of the paddle racket illustrated in the figures, which is obtained by the following essential steps:
- prepare a decorated protection element formed by the element of
protection (10a, 10b) on which the decoration element (6a, 6b) is fixed
- and then position the following elements in a mold:
• a first protection element decorated at the bottom of the mold, the decoration element (6a) facing the inside of the mold,
• a composite sheath associated with an extendable plastic sheath intended to form the hollow tube (3) of the peripheral frame on the perimeter of the mold and which extends to form the racket handle,
• a first layer of composite materials (9a),
• one core (8),
• a second layer of composite materials (9b),
• a second decorated protection element, the element being

decoration (6b) oriented inside the mold,
and then the molding is carried out under specific conditions of temperature and pressure, combined with the swelling of the composite sheath to allow the different elements of the structure and the conformation of the racket to be glued.
At the exit of the mold, the paddle racket obtained is already decorated, and no stage of decoration, supplementary protection or even finishing after molding is necessary, in particular, on the two striking surfaces.
The frame of the invention will not leave if the decoration element is located between the layer of compounds (9a, 9b) and the core 8, the layer of compounds comprising translucent areas to make the decoration element visible. In this variant, the decoration could be fixed in advance directly on the core 8.
In the case where the structure of the racket is different from the variants shown, the decoration element may be positioned between any two layers of the structure. Obviously, this decoration element will be coated with one or several transparent or translucent materials, the striking surfaces always being constituted by the protection element at least transparent above the decoration element, to make the decoration element visible from the outside .
Likewise, the protection element covers the decoration element directly or indirectly.
One or several decoration elements can be used, at the same level in the thickness of the racket structure or at different levels.
As the outer surface of the racket comprises the two front and rear hitting faces, the racket edge, the two front and rear faces of the racket bridge area and the outer faces of the racket handle, it will not come off of the frame of the invention if the decoration element is positioned inside the structure of the racket in the area of the racket bridge and if it is directly or indirectly coated by a protection element that leaves it visible from the outside.
10
fifteen
Finally, the solution has the following advantages:
- The striking surface of the racket is covered by a protective element resistant to the impact of the ball, compression wear, friction wear, and scratches.
- The decoration arranged under the protection element is protected against external aggressions.
- The decoration is visible from the outside.
- The invention does not need to add any specific and supplementary protection on the striking surface to protect the decoration.
- The manufacturing process is simplified and allows the finished product to be obtained from the moment of the racket molding, without adding the decoration later.
