DESCRIPTION Background: The position of players during ball games can be determined by tracking electronic devices carried by the players. The position of the balls is typically determined using video analysis. In situations where the ball is blocked by players, it is not possible to track the ball via video. Therefore, it is more optimal to find the position of the ball by incorporating an electronic device, battery charge and battery in the ball. Description: The electronics needed to send data (so that the ball position can be determined), to supply power (battery) and to be able to charge the battery are connected by electrical cables. As can be seen in Figure 1, the components are taped or glued under the surface of the ball. The ball then closes. When air is filled in the bladder, the bladder puts pressure on the components and holds them in place. The positions (internally of the ball) of the components are determined by mathematical optimization. All possible positions on the surface are defined (see Figure 2, which shows a modeled rugby ball). The mass of each component is measured, and the optimization algorithm finds sets of positions that give the smallest change in the position of the center of mass and equal change in the moment of inertia about three axes (ml, m2 and m3 in Figure 2). It is possible to incorporate extra masses to further optimize the above. Figure 3 shows position data from a ball with built-in electronics played around a court. DK 201700101 U3

Claims (3) [1] REQUIREMENTS (1) An inflatable ball (Rugby, American football, soccer, handball, etc.) Comprehensive: • more than one electronic part placed between the bladder and the outer material and • where the position of the electronic parts is optimized to balance the ball in terms of center of mass and moment of inertia, and • where one of the electronic components enables position determination of the ball.
