Description: [0001] The invention belongs to the field of watches and other timepieces. More particularly, the invention relates to a watch or a timepiece with mechanical or electromechanical drive having an oval-shaped scale, oval being taken in the generic sense of the term which covers the egg-shaped ovals, the ellipses flattened circles or other similar closed figures, the display of the time being done by means of the center of a lens.
It is in the context of mechanical watches become luxury item and therefore subject to many forms of execution that is this new embodiment.
The idea of using an oval scale shape or more generally a watch whose apparent length of the radius from the center of rotation of the pointer to the display point varies depending on the display angle is disclosed in WO 0 118 612 which uses a non-circular guide channel within which a follower roller controls the apparent length of the needle. On the other hand, the brand Martynov & Cetinkoprulu presents on the Internet (2017) under the name of Zooming Watch, a watch equipped with two rotating loupes, one of which is fixed at the end of the hour hand.
The object of the invention is to provide a mechanical or electromechanical watch which comprises an oval-shaped display scale symbolically representing the path of the sun and a marker in the form of a lens symbolically representing the sun itself. whose position indicates the daytime time on the upper part of the display and the night on the lower part.
For this purpose, the watch comprises a lens consisting of two concentric transparent disks connected by a common axis and freely rotatable relative to each other. The lower disc is guided by an oval channel while the upper disc is guided by a fork driven by the movement of the watch.
Another embodiment allows the object to be achieved by fixing a magnifying lens at the end of a needle whose length varies according to the display angle, said next needle, by means of a pebble, an oval groove.
The relative position of the lens can pass partially under the central display dial thus allowing to modulate the apparent size of the lens so the sun as a function of the evolution of the hours.
This same watch can be equipped with a rotating bezel with manual adjustment. Thus, a pointer at the top of the lens drive fork also allows to simultaneously display the time of another time zone.
An additional indicator allows to display the position of the moon relative to the sun. It rotates in about 24 hours and 50 minutes while the sun rotates in 24 hours. This display can take the form of another translucent lens, of apparent diameter close to that of the sun. A rotating mask, driven by the hours marker device and placed above the moon, partially limits the visible surface so as to visualize the successive lunar phases seen from the earth. A translucent and fixed complementary mask to partially darken or mask the moon during the nocturnal phases compared to the diurnal phases.
A magnifying effect of the lens can be arranged by introducing a convex shape on one or both lenses in order to improve the reading.
In addition, a judicious arrangement of background colors, signs and the lens increases the apparent contrast of reading signs placed under the lens relative to other signs.

Figs. 1 and 2 present the screen of the watch with an oval scale and its sectional view. The housing (1), the winding (2), the glass (3), the seal (4), the mechanical or electromechanical movement (5), the marking bottom plate (8) comprising the hour scale are visible. (7), f apparent lens (8) formed of 2 lenses (9, 10) with the precise centering point of the time stamp (11), the outer portion (12) of the guide channel of the lower lens and the inner part (13). The guide fork of the upper lens (14) can be driven through a friction coupling (18) by the hour control axis (15).
FIG. 3 presents the entire watch. Fig. 4 shows the detail of the display mechanism. The hour control axis (15) drives a disc (20) itself being clamped by two leaf springs (21) to control, in case of shock of the watch, the maximum torque that can be between the fork (14) and the hour control axis (15). The apparent lens (8) consists of two concentric lenses (9, 10) which are interconnected by a common axis (22). They are separated by a washer made of sliding materials such as teflon (23). The tightening torque of the assembly is controlled by a screw (24) and a torque-controlled nut (25). The 2 discs (9, 10) are thin in order to limit the forces during the shocks of the watch. The lower disk (10) is formed by a flange-shaped circular flange (26) which slides, with play, in a rounded channel. The upper disc (9) is arranged with a groove (27) which rubs, with play, against a thinning (28) of the contact zone of the driving fork.
Figs. 5 and 6 present the same watch equipped with a rotating bezel (30). This telescope is manually adjusted in rotation. It displays the time of another time zone. The driving fork of the lens (14) is closed at the top of the legs (32) thus making it possible to place the time pointer (31) which faces the rotating bezel. This same watch can be arranged with auxiliary displays (33) for minutes, seconds, days, charge rate or any other display and a counterweight (35). In addition, one of the two discs consists of a convex magnifying lens (34) which allows to enlarge the characters under the magnifying glass.
Figs. 7 and 8 shows a variant with a magnifying glass (41) attached to the end of an arm (42) itself driven by the movement of the time counting mechanism (43). The arm is held, in its longitudinal axis, by a set of 4 rollers (44) itself comprising a roller (45) immersed in an oval groove (46), the roller pair (45) groove (46) for driving the end of the arm.
FIG. 9 shows a more advanced example of the watch (51) with the bezel (30), the hour dial (7) the lens (8) the fork needle (14), the counterweight (35). The minute dial (51) is integral with the fork needle. The minute display is achieved by means of a marker in the form of a transparent disk having a ring or lens (52) which encircles the minute indicator digit. Thus, the starting marker (00) is located in the axis of the time marking device, which means that this marker executes one revolution per hour and that consequently the minute marker is driven by a train of time. gear having a ratio of 25/24 to a minute hand having its fixed starting mark. In this same figure we see that there is a seconds marker in the form of a central disk (53) which can rotate in 1440 revolutions per day or 1441 or 1450 revolutions per day depending on whether the seconds are located relative to to the case, to the integral dial of the forked needle or to the marking circle of the minutes. It can also be seen that the lens representing the sun passes partially under the minute marking dial (54), which gives an apparent dimension of the sun which varies according to the time.
FIG. 10 shows a variant with display of the position of the moon (55) relative to the sun. It performs a circular rotation in about 24 hours and 50 minutes and 28.8 seconds while the sun rotates oval in 24 hours. This display can be the subject of a complication high accuracy watch or simply organized around a set of gear from the display hours and having a ratio 57 to 59 which corresponds to 24 hours, 50 minutes and 30 seconds. The representation marker of the moon may be a needle having, at its end, a disc, a ring or a lens. This marker can also be partially covered by the central dial.
Figs. 11 present a watch variant with display of the moon's quarters and marking hours with high contrast. It consists of the telescope (30), the local time display scale (7), the time display lens (8). The minute display (52) is realized by means of a marker in the form of a transparent disk having a ring or a lens which encircles the minute indicator digit. The moon (55), placed above the hour display lens (8), consists of a translucent lens of apparent diameter close to the diameter of the sun moves in a circular path. A rotating and translucent mask (56), driven by the hour display lens (8), is placed above the moon lens (55) thereby partially limiting the visible surface so as to visualize the phases. successive throughout the lunar cycle. A second translucent and fixed mask (57) darkens or partially obscures the moon during the night phases with respect to the diurnal phases, these two phases being separated by the horizon line (58). Judiciously, this mask (57) is placed under the watch glass or glued under the latter.
FIG. 11 presents the watch when it is 03 o'clock in the afternoon and that the moon is ascending (growth) while fig. 12 corresponds to 06 am with the moon in opposition to the sun, which corresponds to the full moon, which at that moment is on the horizon and passes in the night zone (57).
Figs. 11 and 12 also have a device for improving the display contrast of the hours. This technical effect is obtained by using, for the background color of the dial (59), a first color (a), while the signs (60) are of a second color (b) and the indication of the time, achieved by means of the translucent lens (8) is a third color (c). The colors (a, b, c) being chosen so as to increase the apparent contrast in reading the signs placed under the lens (61) relative to the other signs (60), this phenomenon being added, if necessary, to the magnifying effect that gives a magnifying glass.
These watches according to the invention are particularly intended for the luxury watch market.
