[0001] The present invention relates to the field of application of rivet caps and, more specifically, to the field of application of rivet caps used for locking purposes.
Description of the known art
[0002] The additional holes made on the workpieces to meet processing, measurement and assembly requirements are called machined holes. Sometimes the machined holes are created at the end of the processing. Some of these machined holes need to be closed with caps. When machined holes made, for example, on crankshafts, pistons, pneumatic cylinders and engine cylinders need plugs, the requirements for caps are high. At the moment, in the face of these special needs, usually for the capping we make use of expanding ball plugs, threaded sealing plugs and captive caps. However, these plugs could come off at constant high temperatures, high pressures or when affected by strong vibrations. Spills from machined holes equipped with plugs will cause serious safety hazards and the disconnection of the plugs could cause serious damage to the main body.
Exhibition of the invention
[0003] The object of the present invention is to provide an original closed rivet cap which plugs firmly and reliably, has a simple structure and low manufacturing costs, is easy and convenient to apply and can completely avoid unforeseen detachments in way to overcome the above mentioned defects.
[0004] To solve the aforementioned technical problems, the invention makes use of the following technical solution:
[0005] The closed rivet cap of the invention is mainly composed of a rivet with a nail and a body; the body of the rivet is hollow, has a cylindrical shape and has a closed end; the closed end of the cylinder has a recessed arc; the rivet nail is composed of head and stem; the head of the nail adheres perfectly to the hollow space of the cylinder; the top of the nail head is equipped with a slot that matches the recessed arc of the closed end of the cylindrical body; furthermore the head of the nail has the shape of a truncated cone.
[0006] Along the circumference of the closed end of the rivet body, bevels are arranged in the form of a circular arc.
[0007] A notch is present at the junction point of the shank and of the rivet nail head.
[0008] The nail stem is equipped with non-slip ring grooves.
[0009] The inner surface of the hollow space of the cylinder matches the outer surface of the nail head and adheres to it perfectly.
[0010] The invention which makes use of the technical solution described above enables the following advantages to be obtained: closure with firm and reliable plugs, simple structure and low manufacturing costs. The machined holes are capped with a method based on the use of rivets. Rivet caps are used in a practical way in combination with a special riveting gun. The process of applying the caps is quick and easy. During the application of the caps, when the head of the nail is to be extracted from the body of the rivet, on the external sides of the upper part of the body there will be a deformation towards the outside caused by the presence of the recessed arc on the closed end of the body and bevels in the shape of a circular arc along its circumference. This deformation will create an extrusion and seal the inner wall of the machined hole. When the rivet nail head has been completely extracted from the body, a deformation will be generated on the lower part of the rivet body due to the passage of the conical head of the nail. Also this deformation will create an extrusion and the sealing of the inner wall of the worked hole, therefore the body of the rivet will be inserted with a strong adhesion in the worked hole and will seal it at best. Furthermore, one end of the rivet body is closed, in this way the body and the head of the rivet nail will be inserted together in the worked hole, after which the insertion of the rivet cap will have come to an end and a closure and a complete sealing. The form of capping compared with the methods currently in use is firmer, avoids the detachment of the caps and completely prevents the safety risks caused by leaks from the machined holes

[0011] As shown in fig. 1, The closed rivet cap of the present invention is mainly composed of a rivet formed by a nail and an essentially cylindrical body 1. The body of the rivet 1 is hollow and has a closed cylindrical end; the closed end of the cylinder 1 is provided with a recessed arc 2; the rivet nail is formed by a shank 3 and a head 4; the head of the nail 4 adheres perfectly to the hollow space of the cylindrical body 1; the top of the head 4 of the nail is provided with a slot 5 which matches the recessed arc 2 located on the closed end of the cylindrical body 1; furthermore the head 4 of the nail has the shape of a truncated cone. Along the circumference of the closed end of the body of the rivet 1 there are arranged bevels in the form of a circular arc 6. At the junction point of the shank 3 and of the head 4 of the rivet nail there is a notch 7. To facilitate processing of the rivet caps, the shank 3 of the rivet nail is provided with non-slip ring grooves 8. The inner surface of the hollow space of the cylinder of the rivet 1 matches the outer surface of the head 4 of the nail and adheres perfectly to it.

Closed rivet cap, characterized in that it is essentially constituted by a rivet formed by a nail and a body; the body of the rivet is hollow and cylindrical and has a closed end; the closed end of the cylinder has a recessed arc; the rivet nail consists of a stem and a head; the head of the nail adheres perfectly to the hollow space of the rivet cylinder; the top of the nail head is equipped with a slot that matches the recessed arc of the closed end of the cylinder; furthermore, the rivet nail head has the shape of a truncated cone.

2. Rivet plug according to claim 1, characterized in that along the circumference of the closed end of the rivet body are arranged bevels in the form of a circular arc.

3. A rivet cap according to claim 1, characterized in that at the junction point of the shank and of the rivet nail head there is a notch.
