专利说明:

[0001] The present invention relates to an apparatus and a process for packaging brochures containing folded leaflets.
[0002] More particularly, the present invention refers to an apparatus and to a manufacturing process suitable for allowing the packaging / assembly of information brochures containing folded leaflets, especially used in the medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic or manual sector in general.
[0003] As is known, with particular reference to the medical-pharmaceutical field, medicinal products are always provided with an illustrative leaflet capable of describing the dosage of the product in terms of methods of correct use and storage, side effects, etc. and inserted in the package which contains only a few information in reference to the product contained therein (name, active ingredient, expiry date, etc.).
[0004] This leaflet, typically known by the term "leaflet", must more or less necessarily, depending on the specific regulations of the country, be associated with the medicine / drug and the pharmaceutical companies, with a view to inserting an increasing quantity of information (as the specific standards require) easily readable by users, they tend to produce increasingly larger leaflets or leaflets, possibly consisting of several sheets or a single sheet printed on the front and back and folded several times on itself so that it can be inserted into the medicine pack.
[0005] Furthermore, for some types of medicines such as, by way of example, pre-filled pens for insulin injections or other medicines whose use is associated with a specific device, in addition to the leaflet or leaflet containing the information relating to the drug, they also include a leaflet to illustrate the characteristics of the device and its methods of use for the correct intake of the medicine.
[0006] This booklet is inserted into the package of the medicine together with the leaflet or leaflet which, in turn, is preferably coupled to said booklet.
[0007] The coupling process between the illustrative leaflet or leaflet and the leaflet can be carried out manually with consequent drawbacks linked to long production times and / or human errors which can lead to the rejection of a large number of finished products (leaflet with leaflet).
[0008] These drawbacks linked to manual production processes can be solved by using automated processes.
[0009] For example, document US3162434 describes a method for the automated sorting of folded sheets and, in particular, a method for inserting booklets or further sheets inside said folded sheets; this apparatus provides for the insertion of said brochures when the edges of the folded sheets are open at an angle substantially equal to or greater than 90 ° and with one of the edges, the one on which the booklet is laid, lying on a horizontal plane.
[0010] Document US2005 / 0082733 describes a saddle stitcher for folded sheets which comprises a sewing station, at least two feeders for folded sheets, a handling system for said folded sheets and at least two gluing devices arranged behind the feeders of folded sheets and suitable for allowing the gluing on said sheets of customized elements.
[0011] Document US2004 / 0036271 describes a promotional brochure provided with a promotional decorative element attached to said brochure at its upper and / or lower face, with the brochure thus obtained fed into an apparatus for insertion into a multipage article .
[0012] Another automated method is described in US5685530 in which reference is made to a method for making folded sheets to be attached to a medical-pharmaceutical product and which comprises the steps of connecting two or more sheets to define a booklet or booklet and folding of said booklet or booklet on itself with the application of an adhesive element suitable for retaining the folded booklet. These automated solutions also have significant drawbacks linked to the fact that they allow to produce folded leaflets or leaflets by means of complex devices and without, however, allowing the continuous production of brochures internally provided with folded leaflets.
[0013] The object of the present invention is to obviate the above mentioned drawbacks. More particularly, the object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus and a process for the automated packaging of brochures containing illustrative leaflets or folded leaflets.
[0014] A further object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus as defined above, which is flexible and reconfigurable to be able to manage different types / formats of brochures and illustrative sheets or leaflets.
[0015] A further object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus suitable for applying the process of the invention to reduce the possibility of errors and, at the same time, increase production, reduce the relative costs and obtain a qualitatively optimal product.
[0016] A further object of the present invention is to make available to users an apparatus and a process for the automated packaging of brochures containing folded leaflets designed to ensure a high level of resistance and reliability over time and such as to be able to be easily and economically realized.
[0017] These and other purposes are achieved by the device of the invention which has the characteristics of claim 1 and by the method which has the characteristics of claim 9.
[0018] According to the invention, an apparatus is provided for the automatic packaging of brochures containing illustrative leaflets or leaflets suitable for being inserted in container elements or packages of a product especially for medical / pharmaceutical or cosmetic use, with said brochure formed by a sheet of paper material folded like a book to define a head flap and a bottom flap and possibly provided with one or more intermediate sheets defining the pages of the brochure itself, characterized in that it comprises a first operating unit comprising, in succession one to the another, a first loading station and a second loading station respectively for the loading of the closed booklets with the head flap in contact with the bottom flap and of leaflets, a station for opening said booklets, a first control station and a gluing station for said same brochures, a coupling station between a booklet and a illustrative leaflet for packaging an assembly, a second control station, a closing station, a labeling station for the application of one or more adhesive labels on said assembly, a station for folding said labels and an ejection station for the assemblies defective, said stations being arranged in sequence and synchronized for a movement and manipulation of said brochures and illustrative leaflets and a second operating unit comprising an accumulation station for said assemblies coming from the first operating unit.
[0019] Advantageous embodiments of the invention appear from the dependent claims. [0031] The booklet opening station 26 has the function of opening the individual brochures, which are loaded into the first buffer 19 in a closed configuration with the top and bottom flaps in contact with each other, with the head flap 13 'and the bottom flap 13 "of the brochure arranged perpendicularly to each other for the functions described below; the opening of the individual brochures 19 is achieved by means of suitable and known guides fixed to the frame and, for example, defined by a knife or blade which is inserted between the upper flap and the lower flap of the booklet and from which a shoulder develops which imposes a substantially 90 ° rotation of the head flap away from the bottom flap (the booklet is open as substantially schematized in figure 4).
[0032] The first control station 28 comprises an optical sensor of the camera type or another optical scanning device of the laser type or the like having the function of acquiring a bar code (not shown in the figures) stamped on the lower front of the tail 13 "of booklet 12, with said bar code containing, in coded form, the information relating to the booklet (language, product type, etc.) for correct matching with a corresponding information leaflet 21.
[0033] Downstream of the first control station 28 and upstream of the second chute 24 there is a gluing station 30 having the function of depositing / spraying small drops of glue 31 on the upper surface of the bottom flap 13 "(or on the upper front of one of the sheets 15 arranged between said two flaps of the booklet) of the booklet 12 in an open configuration for the function described below.
[0034] Immediately downstream of the second chute 24 there is an operating station for coupling 33 between the open leaflet 12 equipped with glue dots 31 (sprayed in the gluing station 30) and the leaflet 14 and a second control station 32 equipped with an optical sensor of the camera type or an optical scanning device adapted to detect the information contained in a bar code 14 "of the package insert 14 for a comparison with the information provided by the bar code of the booklet 12 (for example correspondence between the language of the booklet and that of the package leaflet).
[0035] The booklet 12 thus coupled with the illustrative leaflet or leaflet 14 defines the assembly 16 which is moved in the direction of a closing station 34 positioned downstream of the second control station 32 and able to close the assembly 16 carrying the head flap 13 'in contact with the bottom flap 13 "; for this purpose, the closing station 34 is provided with fixed mechanical guides which force the head flap 13' of the booklet 12 to rotate 90 ° in the direction of the flap bottom 13 "during the advancement of the assembly 16 itself by means of the conveyor belt 9. Downstream of the closing station 34 there is a labeling station 36 comprising an automatic labeling machine basically provided with an unwinding support for a label holder reel and a winder support for a collection reel without labels with the label holder reel which, by means of the rotation imposed on the label holder disc with respect to the prop rio axis and through an electric motor, applies on the assembly 16, in correspondence with the upper front of the head flap 13 'of the brochure 12, one or more adhesive labels 35 possibly provided with a logo or other type of graphic representation / decoration, able to define a safety and guarantee seal for the assembly 16 defined by the booklet 12 and by the leaflet or leaflet 14; the one or more labels 35 partially adhere, preferably with a portion equal to half of their total area, to the head flap 13 'of the brochure 12.
[0036] A folding station 38, located downstream of the labeling station 36, has the function of acting on the free portion of one or more labels in contact with the assembly 16 by imposing a rotation and adherence with the same assembly at the lower or external front of the bottom flap 13 "of the brochure 12; for this purpose the folding station is provided with mechanical elements fixed with respect to the frame structure and able to define a guide which, during the forward movement of the together with 16 by means of the conveyor belt 9, it forces the free label portion to rotate by 180 ° with respect to the portion adhering to the head edge 13 'bringing it into adhesion to the bottom edge 13 ".
[0037] An ejection station 40 located in succession to the folding station 38 has the function of moving the assembly 16 in the direction of the second operating unit 17 provided with a further conveyor belt 42 adapted to move the assemblies 16 in the direction of an apparatus of packaging having the function of inserting the assembly 16 into a package or box of a product to which the assembly 16 is associated or to a storage area in which said brochures are accumulated for subsequent picking by an operator.
[0038] The same ejection station 40 also has the function of ejecting the assemblies 16 that do not correspond to the characteristics or quality standards of the production process or that have assembly errors (for example, a non-correspondence of bar codes between the brochure and the leaflet), the discarded assemblies 16 are deposited in a container 44 housed in the second operating unit 17 and downstream of the ejection station 40 of the first operating unit 11.
[0039] The apparatus 10 of the invention is also provided with a control panel 46 which defines an operator interface with a control unit (not shown) and which allows the operator to view the production phases, control the work cycle, modify the processing parameters (speed, characteristics of the electronic cams for the synchronization of movements, etc.); product presence sensors, counters etc. (not shown in the figures) that acquire data to allow the operator to adjust and modify the production cycle.
[0040] The process for the packaging of brochures 12 containing folded leaflets 14, carried out with the apparatus 10 described above in detail with reference to its constructive components, is described below with particular reference to figure 7 and figures 8 to 8G .
[0041] The brochures 12 are manually loaded into the first lung 19 and the illustrative leaflets 14, likewise manually, are loaded into the second lung 20.
[0042] At this point the operator starts the apparatus 10 and the brochures 12 move (arrow A) in the direction of the first slide 22 and from this onto the conveyor belt 9 which leads them between the various stations, as indicated by arrow C.
[0043] The booklet 12, carried by the conveyor belt 9, passes in correspondence with the opening station 26, where it is opened according to the direction indicated by the arrow X in figure 8A, and at the first control station 28 which carries out a reading / scanning the barcode with which the booklet 12 is provided; the barcode data is sent to the control unit which decodes them and compares them with those contained in the specifications of the production / processing cycle.
[0044] After a set time according to the synchronism requirements (adjusted by means of the control unit with electronic cams set at software level on the basis of the consent signals coming from the sensors with which the apparatus is equipped), the illustrative leaflets 14, loaded into the second buffer 21, are moved in the direction of the second slide 24; the position sensors detect the passages of the brochures 12 at the operating stations and send the signals to the control unit which regulates the drives and the coordination between the handling of the brochures and the illustrative leaflets.
[0045] The open booklet 12 passes through the gluing station 30 in which the drops of glue 31 (figure 8B) are deposited on the upper front of the bottom flap 13 "or on one of the sheets 15 defining the inner pages of the booklet and, subsequently, in correspondence with the second slide 21 along which the illustrative sheet 14 descends, which is placed on the open brochure and is fixed to it by means of the drops of glue (coupling operating station 33, figures 8C and 8D). The booklet 12 and the illustrative leaflet 14 thus coupled to define the assembly 16 slide (moved by the conveyor belt 9) in the direction of the second control station 32 where the optical sensor acquires the bar code of the leaflet 14 and sends it to the control unit that decodes it and compares it with that of booklet 12 to check its correspondence (for example the linguistic correspondence between the text of the booklet and that of the package leaflet) .
[0046] After checking / reading the bar code, the assembly is moved towards the closing station 34 where the head flap 13 'of the booklet 12 is folded by 90 ° (as indicated in figure 8E by the arrow Y ) to come into contact with the bottom flap 13 "closing the leaflet containing the leaflet 14.
[0047] The assembly 16 in this configuration is transported to the labeling station 36 where one or more labels 35 are applied (in partial contact as indicated in Figure 8F) on an edge of the booklet and subsequently to the folding station 38 where the portion of the one or more labels 35 not in contact with the face flap 13 'of the leaflet 12 of the assembly 16 is folded back on itself to adhere with the bottom flap 13 "of the same leaflet so as to close and seal the assembly and its contents, as schematized in figure 8G (arrows W).
[0048] The conveyor belt 9 moves the assembly 16 from the closing station to the unloading station 40 where the correctly assembled assemblies 16 are translated to the second operating unit while the defective ones, i.e. those for which the bar code of the brochure it does not correspond to that of the illustrative leaflet or in the case of a pamphlet to which an illustrative leaflet is not associated or vice versa, they are discarded and directed to the waste container 44.
[0049] As can be seen from the foregoing, the advantages that the apparatus and process of the invention allow to be achieved are evident.
[0050] The process of the invention advantageously allows to realize an automated packaging of brochures containing illustrative leaflets or folded leaflets.
[0051] A further advantage of the apparatus of the invention is represented by the fact that the operating stations that compose it are flexible and reconfigurable so as to be able to manage different types / formats of brochures and illustrative sheets or leaflets.
[0052] Further advantageous is the fact that the apparatus together with the process applied by it for the processing described above, allow to obtain, in a quick and easy way, brochures containing leaflets or leaflets, for example for drugs, sealed and ready for subsequent phases of insertion into a container body or package of the product to which they are combined.
[0053] Although the invention has been described above with particular reference to an embodiment thereof given only by way of non-limiting example, numerous modifications and variations will appear evident to a person skilled in the art in the light of the above description. The present invention therefore intends to embrace all the modifications and variations that fall within the scope of the following claims.
