TECHNICAL FIELD [0001] The present invention relates to a box for the transport and handling of watch dials. The invention also relates to a method for packaging dials such a box.
State of the art [0002] CH 598 082 discloses a packaging for watch dials composed of identical embossed sheets, each sheet having a network of projections forming housing for the dials. Other cross-shaped projections in the center of each housing support the dials. The vertical position of the dials is maintained by means of a cushion of soft material in direct contact with the upper surface of the dial. This sheet may scratch or dirty the dial if it is not perfectly clean.
[0003] CH 699 057 describes a box for watch dials comprising one or more bins intended to each receive a dial. The dials are held on cross supports by means of an upward central protrusion which is housed in the central needle hole of the dial, so as to wedge the dial in its lateral movements. The dial is further wedged in its vertical movements by means of a vertical downward protrusion under the underside of another box stacked over the box, and corresponding to the upward protrusion. This solution has the disadvantage of not completely blocking the position of the dials, neither laterally nor vertically. Indeed, as the dials may have varying thicknesses, a sufficient clearance must be provided between the lower protrusion and the downward protrusion so as to receive the thickest dials that the box is made to condition. The result is dials that move in the box, make noise, and are poorly protected. On the other hand, the mold necessary for the production of such a box is expensive because it must be made accurately for the downward protrusion fits perfectly in the upward protrusion.
[0004] WO 2008 068 282 discloses a protective box for transporting or storing a dial. The dial is held on a spring-mounted cross projection by means of an elastically deformable cleat and designed to fit into the needle hole in the center of the dial. The cleat is pressed by a protrusion under the underside of the cover, so as to wedge the dial when the diameter of the cleat increases. The cleat is a single-use piece and moreover difficult to fit in the box, so that the conditioning of the dials in the box generates a significant handling cost. On the other hand, similar to the above solution, maintaining the dial depends on perfect alignment of the batten with the protrusion of the lid stacked on top.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [0005] An object of the present invention is therefore to propose a dial box which avoids or attenuates at least some of the disadvantages of the prior art.
According to the invention, these objects are achieved in particular by means of a box for the packaging and transport of watch dials, comprising a plurality of locations each for receiving a dial, each location comprising: one or more brackets arranged to support the dial by its underside; a pin intended to be housed in the central pinhole of the dial to wedge it; said pin being made of an elastically deformable material, so as to bend towards the edge of the central pinhole when a vertical force is applied against said pin by a lid or other box stacked on said box.
The advantage of this box is in particular stall the dial only by the central needle hole, without contact with the upper face of the dial.
The pin is made of an elastically deformable synthetic material, for example elastomer or PET injected. It can be reused many times, and should not be replaced after use. Advantageously, the pin is, however, releasably connected to the box, and can thus be replaced if it were to tear after many uses, or to replace it with a pin of different diameter.
The pin bends and flexes as soon as a force is exerted on it by a lid or other stacked box. It is not necessary that the force be applied to the center of the pin. Therefore, it is also not necessary to provide a protrusion or other protrusion under the underside of the lid or the superimposed box; the vertical downward pressure of a flat surface is sufficient to deform it by compression and bending.
The pin is substantially straight when no lid and no box is stacked above; it is bent when a lid or box is mounted above the box. The deformation is therefore asymmetrical, the pin being folded when the lid is closed in a preferred lateral direction.
The pin being made of a flexible material, it may be curved even when no lid and no box is stacked; in this case, its radius of curvature decreases, however, when a lid or box is stacked.
The direction of curvature of the pin is advantageously controlled. The box may include guiding elements for guiding the lid or a box stacked above when closing. The direction of relative movement of the box and its cover determines the direction of bending of the pin. The direction of curvature is thus substantially the same for all the pins of the same box.
The compression of the pin depends on the distance between the support in which it is mounted and the underside of the lid or the superimposed box. This distance is determined by a flange on which the lid or the superposed box rests, and / or by the clipping means.
The pin is advantageously arranged so as not to press against the upper face of the dial when a box identical to said box or lid is stacked on said box. Advantageously, the pin tilts against the edge of the needle hole, and maintains the dial by the contact against this edge. The diameter of the pin can increase when the pin is compressed, so as to increase the contact pressure with the dial.
The box may include a blind hole in each location to accommodate the lower end of the corresponding pin. The pin can be driven into said blind hole and held without glue. It can be replaced. It is also possible to provide a through hole with a shoulder which allows to insert the pin from the top of the box, until it bears against this shoulder; it can then be removed by driving it underneath by means of a suitable tool.
The pin may comprise a base driven into the blind hole or through and a flexible portion with a different section from that of the base. The shape and / or diameter of the portion of the pin that protrudes above the hole may be different from the shape of the diameter of the base, respectively.
The maximum diameter of the pin, or that of the protruding portion, is less than the minimum diameter of the hole in which the pin must be inserted. This diameter can be between 1.3 and 2.5 millimeters. It is possible to equip the same box with pins of different diameters, in order to maintain dials with different diameters of needle holes. The same box can be delivered with several sets of pins of different diameters to wedge dials with different diameters of needlehole. Pins of different diameters may have a different color to distinguish them easily.
According to another aspect, the invention also relates to a method for packaging dials in a dial box, comprising the following steps: selecting a pin diameter from several diameters available; box equipment with pimples of the selected diameter; placing the dial at a location in the box, such that a prominent end of the pin passes through a needle hole in the center of the dial; closing the box by means of a lid or a stacked box, said closure involving a displacement of the lid or the box stacked in a lateral direction so as to bend the pin in said direction, and a vertical displacement of the lid or of the box stacked in one direction so as to compress the pin.
The vertical and horizontal displacement may be at least partly simultaneous.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES [0020] Examples of implementation of the invention are indicated in the description illustrated by the appended figures in which:
Fig. 1 illustrates a top view of a box according to the invention.
Fig. 2 illustrates a perspective view of a dial box according to the invention.
Fig. 3 illustrates a perspective view of a stack of boxes and a lid according to the invention.
Figs. 4a and 4b illustrate a sectional view of a location of a box according to the invention, before and during stacking with an upper box.
Example (s) of Embodiment of the Invention [0021] FIGS. 1 to 4 illustrate an exemplary embodiment of a dial box according to the invention. Box 1 illustrated has a base 19, with several locations 17 for watch dials; in the example, the box has two rows of slots for five dials each. Each location comprises a support 11 for positioning the dial 2 above the base 19. The base 1 can be made in one piece by injection, for example polyethylene.
The support 11 is constituted in this example of two branches 11a, 11b protruding forming a cross above the base 19; the height of the two branches is equal to or greater than the maximum height of the dial feet 22 that the box is made to condition. In this way, the underside 20 of the dials rests directly on the upper edge of the support 11. The length of each branch 11a, 11b is greater than the typical radius of the dials 2 that the

box must usually endure. Other forms of support can be imagined. A cross support, however, has the advantage of limiting the maximum rotation of the dial, the branches 11a, 11b forming stops for the feet 22. Preferably, the dials are however not confined in cells, and nothing prevents a very large dial encroaches in part on a neighboring location. The boxes 1 can be stacked on each other, as shown in FIG. 3. A cover 18 devoid of locations 17 can be positioned above a stack of boxes 1. The stack can be held by a strap, for example an elastic strap or Velcro. The base is provided with a flange 15 at each longitudinal edge; these flanges notably make it possible to control the vertical spacing between two superposed boxes 1, the lower face 180 of the upper box 1a or the lid resting on the two flanges 15 of the lower box 1. The lateral displacements of the boxes stacked one by relative to each other are retained thanks to a clipping mechanism 13 near each corner of the box, for clipping a box 1a or a cover 18 on a box 1 by forcing a boss of the upper box or cover in a throat from the lower box. This clipping mechanism thus makes it possible to link two boxes relative to one another by sliding them relative to each other according to the arrow a. The closing movement comprises firstly a horizontal displacement in the longitudinal direction of the box 1, then a vertical component when the boss of the upper box 1a or the cover 18 engages in the guide of the lower box 1. The clipping can also be done in the opposite direction, that is to say from the right in the figure. Each location 17 is further provided with a pin 12 for passing through the needle hole 23 in the center of the dial 2 to wedge laterally and vertically. The pin 12 is made of an elastically deformable synthetic material, preferably an elastomer. It comprises a base 12a driven by driving in a blind hole 111 at the intersection of the two projections 11a, 11b of each location, and a prominent portion extending vertically above the base 12 and the support 11. The hole 111 could also be through, with a shoulder to insert the pin from above (or from below) until it abuts against the shoulder. The protruding portion 12b of each pin 12 has a diameter close to the diameter of the dial hole 23. For example, a diameter of the prominent portion 12b of the 1.5 mm pin can advantageously be used with dial holes 23 with a diameter of 1.6 millimeters. 2.1 millimeters; a diameter of 2.2 mm protruding portion 12b can be used with 23 diameter dial holes 2.3 mm to 3 mm. A dial box can be delivered with pins 12 of different diameters that can be mounted by the user to condition different types of dials. It is possible for example to provide two different diameters of pins that are distinguished from each other by their color. The dial box can be delivered with a set of spikes 12 pre-assembled with a current diameter, and a few spikes of the same diameter for replacement, as well as a few spikes of different diameter better suited to other dials. Spikes may also be marketed as such, as consumables or replacement parts. Spikes 12 of different diameter advantageously have an identical base 12a and the same size to be housed reliably in the same hole 111; only the diameter of the protruding portion 12b differs according to the type of dial to be packaged. As seen in Figs. 4a and 4b, the pin 12 protrudes slightly above the dial 2 when no lid 18 and no box 1a is superimposed. When a box 1a or a cover 18 is moved longitudinally above this box 1, to close it, the prominent portion 12a of the pin 12 is first bent in the direction of movement of the lid 18 or the superimposed box 1a. The direction of deflection is thus determined by the direction of movement of the cover 18 or of the upper box 1a, and therefore by the orientation of the guides in the clipping elements 13. The pin 12 then inclines towards the edge 230 of the 23. When the upper box 1a descends according to the arrow a, still being guided by the groove of the clipping means 13, the pin 12 is slightly compressed so that the pressure it exerts against the edge 230 of the hole 23 increases. The final position is illustrated in FIG. 4b. Note that in this position the lower face of the lid 18 or the upper box 1a does not bear against the upper face 21 of the dial, but is kept at a distance thanks to the flanges 15 and the clipping elements 13. In the same way , the pin 12 bears against the inner edge 230 of the hole 23, and against the edge between the inner edge and the upper face of the dial, but not directly against the upper face of the dial. Maintaining the dial 2 by the center is obtained both by a bending of the pin 12 which bears against an edge 230 of the needle hole 23, and by a compression of this pin whose diameter increases. A hollow pin may also be used. This dial box also has the advantage of also suitable for domed dials or very thick, since the deformation of the pin can be done at different heights. claims
