FIG.l 1/12 Invention Patent Descriptive Report for: “VEHICLE SEAT THAT HAS EXTENSIBLE CUSHIONS AND THIGH SUPPORTS”. [001] FIELD OF THE INVENTION [002] The present invention generally relates to a vehicle seat assembly for a vehicle and, more particularly, to a vehicle seat assembly with extensible seat reinforcements and thigh supports. [003] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [004] Seat reinforcements are, in general, configured to provide additional support to the back and thighs of a vehicle passenger. In combination with the extensible thigh supports that articulate in the forward direction, existing reinforcements from existing seat designs remain fixed. In the case of larger passengers, an uncomfortable gap between the reinforcement and the extended thigh support can occur where the outer edges of the passenger's thighs are not supported, due to the fact that the reinforcements do not extend with the thigh supports. Consequently, there is a need to have a vehicle seat assembly that has an articulation thigh support that simultaneously maintains the support of the passenger's thighs when the thigh support is extended. [005] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [006] One aspect of the present invention includes a vehicle seat assembly for a vehicle that has a lower seat and a backrest. The lower seat has a central seat cushion and a front thigh support portion that has a first retracted portion and a second extended portion. An anterior edge of the front thigh support portion is longitudinally displaced in front of the lower seat in the second extended position in relation to the first retracted position. A seat cushion is coupled to the front thigh support portion which extends laterally from at least one side of the seat, wherein the seat cushion has a first retracted position and a second extended position. A user control is operational to move the sustaining portion of Petition 870180063940, of 7/24/2018, p. 4/5 2/12 front thigh between the first retracted position and the second extended position, which simultaneously moves the seat cushion in relation to the central seat cushion, respectively, between the first retracted position and a second extended position of the seat cushion. [007] Another aspect of the present invention includes a vehicle seat assembly for a vehicle that has a backrest and a seat. The seat has a retractable and extensible thigh support and reinforcements that extend laterally from the seat. A control is operationally coupled to a motor, where the reinforcements are slidably supported on one side of the thigh support and the adjustment of the thigh support between a front position and a rear position simultaneously adjusts the reinforcements between a front position and a rear position. [008] Yet another aspect of the present invention includes a vehicle seat assembly for a vehicle that has a backrest and a seat. A thigh support is movable longitudinally back and forth between a fully extended position and a fully retracted position. The reinforcements extend laterally from the seat and are operationally coupled to the thigh support and are movable between a fully extended position and a fully retracted position. A bench is operationally coupled to the thigh support and movable longitudinally back and forth between a fully extended position and a fully retracted position. A seat base is fixedly mounted in relation to the seat and supports the seat. [009] A still further aspect of the present invention includes a vehicle seat assembly that has reinforcements that extend laterally from the seat. Reinforcements are configured to contact a passenger in the vehicle contiguously regardless of the position of an adjacent thigh support. Reinforcements provide lift and minimize passenger movement during vehicle movement. This allows the passenger of the vehicle to enjoy a safer and more 3/12 protected. [010] These and other aspects, objectives and characteristics of the present invention will be understood and appreciated by the elements versed in the technique through the study of the specification, the claims and the attached drawings below. [021] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE MODALITIES [022] For the purposes of this description, the terms "top", "bottom", "right", "left", "rear", "front", "vertical", "horizontal" and derivatives thereof must refer to the invention as outlined in Figure 1. However, it must be understood that the invention can assume 4/12 several alternative orientations, except when expressly stated to the contrary. It should also be understood that the specific devices and processes illustrated in the attached figures and described in the following specification are simply exemplary embodiments of the concept of the invention defined by the appended claims. Consequently, the specific dimensions and other physical characteristics related to the embodiments disclosed in the present invention are not to be considered as limiting, unless the claims expressly indicate otherwise. [023] Referring to Figures 1-2, reference number 10 generally designates a vehicle seat assembly for use in a passenger compartment of vehicle 8 of a motor vehicle 6. Vehicle seat assembly 10 generally includes a lower seat 12 and a raised back support 14. The vehicle seat assembly 10 can be a driver seat, a passenger seat, a rear anatomical seat, a rear row of seats or any other vehicle seat. In addition, the vehicle seat assembly 10 can also include a head container 26 operatively coupled to the high back support 14 of the vehicle seat assembly 10, wherein the high back support 14 is adapted to recline to a variety of angles in relation to the lower seat 12. The vehicle seat assembly 10 also includes a padded outer surface 16 on the lower seat 12 and the high back support 14 to support the passenger, with a rigid rear panel 18 at the rear of the high back support 14. The vehicle seat assembly 10 is supported on the rail assemblies 30 mounted on a floor container 28. [024] The lower seat 12 is provided with a cushion 36 that has an extensible front thigh support 38 that has a front edge 40 movable back and forth with respect to a rear stationary portion 42. The cushion 36 is configured to provide a comfortable seating surface for the passenger. Pad 36 allows reinforcements 20, 22 to be 5/12 hidden from view and not felt by the passenger when occupying the car seat assembly 10. The cushion 36 also provides the car seat assembly 10 with a uniform look and feel. Although only a single extensible thigh support 38 is disclosed in the present disclosure, it is to be understood that a pair of separately extensible and side-by-side thigh supports 38 could be employed, one for each of the passenger's right and left legs. [025] Reinforcements 20, 22 preferably extend laterally from each of the lower seat base 12 and / or the high back support 14, respectively. In the illustrated embodiment shown in Figure 2, each of the lower seat 12 and the raised back 14 includes the reinforcements 20, 22 which extend from the lateral portions thereof, respectively. The ribs 20 of the lower seat 12 are configured to provide lateral support for a passenger of the vehicle. The ribs 20 are arranged on each side of the cushion 36. A particularly advantageous aspect of the present disclosure provides a vehicle seat assembly 10 in which the ribs 20 can move forward as the leading edge 40 of the cushion 36 extends forward . This allows the front edge 24 of the ribs 20 and the front edge 40 of the elongated thigh support 38 to be a continuous surface to support a passenger's thighs. As noted above, previous seat designs do not allow support at the edge of the thighs, where the thighs are being supported by the elongated bottom seat 12, since the front edge 24 of the reinforcements 20 of the previous designs remains fixed, while the edge front 40 of the central seat cushion 38 elongates. [026] The solution to the aforementioned disadvantage is shown in Figures 3 to 8. The bottom seat 12 of the seat assembly 10 includes a seat base 112 under which the bottom seat 12 is supported. A bench 114 is operatively connected to the seat base 112. The cooperating longitudinal channels 165, 166 can be positioned in a 6/12 between the seat 114 and the seat base 112, respectively, to facilitate the longitudinal sliding movement of the seat 114 in relation to the seat base 112. A rod 116 extends through the seat base 112 into the elongated grooves 118 in bank 114. A motor 126 includes a drive shaft 128 operatively connected to stem 116 and adapted to rotate stem 116. [027] The cushion 36 extends over the seat 114 and the seat base 112 and is designed to provide support for the lower side of a passenger's legs. A malleable fabric 138 is positioned on the pad 36 to protect the pad 36 and provide a static appearance. The cushion 36 is flexible and allows the movement of the seat 114 in relation to the seat base 112 without damaging the cushion 36 or the fabric 138 disposed on the cushion 36. Preferably, the soft fabric 138 includes a central portion 130 which is manufactured from of a flexible and highly elastic fabric, such as a spanex-like material that covers the resulting span as the front thigh support portion 38 is moved forward. The vehicle seat assembly 10 is supported on the seat rail assemblies 30 on the front and rear legs 140, 142. The front and rear legs 140, 142 are thus attached to a floor container 28. Alternatively, the seat assemblies rail 30 can be omitted with the front and rear legs 140, 142 directly mounted on the floor container 28. Consequently, when the seat assembly 10 moves back and forth, the vehicle seat assembly 10 moves in relation to the legs front and rear 140, 142. [028] Referring to the Figures, the seat 114 of the vehicle seat assembly 10 is operatively coupled to the movable thigh supports 38 and is, in general, movable longitudinally back and forth between a completely retracted portion, as shown in Figures 3 and 5, and a fully extended position, as shown in Figures 4 and 7. The front edge 40 of the lower seat 12 of the vehicle seat assembly 10 is also 7/12 pivotally movable up and down between a completely lowered position and a completely raised position. More specifically, the bottom seat 12 of the vehicle seat assembly 10 is designed to extend forward so that adequate support can be provided below the passenger's legs. In addition, the bottom seat 12 of the vehicle seat assembly 10 is upwardly pivoting to provide vertical support for the underside of the passenger's legs. In addition, the bottom seat 12 of the vehicle seat assembly 10 is adjustable to any of a variety of positions between the fully retracted position and the fully extended position and between the fully lowered position and the fully raised position when it is in the fully extended position . [029] As shown in Figures 3 and 5, the thigh support 38 and the ribs 20, together with their respective front edges 40, 24, respectively, are described in the completely retracted position. In this position, the operable length of the lower seat 12 is at its lowest. That is, the available surface area of the vehicle seat assembly 10 that is available to support a passenger is minimized. When the vehicle seat assembly 10 is in the fully retracted position, the stem 116 is positioned on a front end 168 of a base hitch member 170, as best seen in Figure 3. The base hitch member 170 has a construction of generally linear rack with a plurality of teeth 174 disposed on an upper side 176 thereof. The rod 116 extends through and is connected to a drive gear 178 which has a plurality of teeth 180 adapted to engage the teeth 174 on the base engaging member 170. It is to be understood that a pair of basic engaging member 170 and gears 178 can be used and positioned on either side of the lower seat 12. [030] In operation, a selector switch 160 is connected so 8/12 operational to a controller 162 that regulates engine 126. Selector switch 160 receives directional instructions from the passenger and forwards these instructions to controller 162, which activates and controls engine 126. For example, when the user pushes the selector switch 160 in a forward direction as shown by the forward arrow 182, controller 162 activates motor 126, which consequently rotates drive shaft 128 and therefore stem 116 in a clockwise direction. When the rod 116 rotates in a clockwise direction, the teeth 180 of the drive gear 178 act on and push the teeth 174 of the base coupling member 170 in a forward direction denoted by arrow 182. As the base coupling member 170 is urged forward, the seat 114 is also, which is fixedly connected to the base hitch member 170. When the seat 114 reaches the fully extended position, the drive gear 178 is at the rear end 172 of the base hitch member 170 , and controller 162 deactivates motor 126, leaving seat 114 in the fully extended position 152. Seat 114 thus moves longitudinally back and forth relative to seat base 112 to lengthen bottom seat 12 of the assembly vehicle seat 10, thereby moving the front edges 40, 24 of the thigh support 38 and the ribs 20, as shown in Figures 3 and 7, respectively. [031] To return the front edges 40, 24 of the thigh support 38 and the ribs 20 to the fully retracted position, the passenger pushes the selector switch 160 in the direction of the arrow pointed back 184. The movement of the selector key 160 in the direction the backward arrow 184 causes controller 162 to activate motor 126, which consequently rotates drive shaft 128 in a direction opposite to when the selector switch 160 is pushed in the direction of the forward arrow 182. Rod 116 consequently rotates counterclockwise. When the stem 116 rotates counterclockwise, the teeth 180 of the drive gear 178 act on and push the teeth 174 of the base coupling member 170 in 9/12 a rear direction denoted by arrow 184. As the base hitch member 170 is urged backwards, the seat 114 is also, which is fixedly connected to the base hitch member 170. When the seat 114 reaches the position completely retracted, the drive gear 178 is returned to the front end 168 of the base hitch member 170. At the same time, controller 162 deactivates motor 126, leaving seat 114 in the fully retracted position. [032] A tilt hitch member 120, also of a generally linear rack construction with a plurality of teeth 122 arranged therein, is operable between a first position without contact with the drive gear 178 and a second position in contact with the drive gear 178 when the pad 36 is in the fully extended position. The rotation of the drive shaft 128, when the tilt engagement member 120 is in the first position (without contact), as shown in Figure 3, causes the longitudinal displacement of the seat 114 as described above. To extend or retract the seat 114, the passenger then pushes the selector key 160 forward or backward, which first activates solenoid 163, thereby causing the latch member 120 to pivot upwards. Controller 162 then sends a signal to motor 126 to rotate rod 116 to move seat 114 forward or backward. [033] However, when the passenger wishes to move the front edges 40, 24 of the thigh support 38 and the reinforcements 20 upwards and thereby tilt the lower seat 12, the passenger pushes the selector key 160 upwards in the direction of arrow 191, which activates solenoid 163 to cause the tilt engagement member 120 to pivot downwards so that the teeth 122 on the tilt engagement member 120 engage the teeth 180 of the drive gear 178. The controller 162 then sends a signal to the motor 126 to turn the rod 116 in order to turn the gear 178. The clockwise rotation of the drive shaft 128 10/12 when the tilt engagement member 120 is in the second position (in contact) causes the rod 116 to rotate and causes the front edge 40 of the seat 114 to tilt upwards. The reverse of this process can be achieved by pushing the selector switch 160 down in the direction of arrow 193. [034] As noted above, the ribs 20 are also movable to a forward position as the leading edge 40 of the thigh support 38 moves forward and the pad 36 elongates. As shown in Figures 5-8, the ribs 20 can be mounted on a sub-band 186 to allow the ribs 20 to move forward relative to the pad 36. Sub-band 186 includes a sliding band 188 mounted on an inner side 190 of the rib 20 facing the cushion 36 and a base shoe 196 fixedly mounted on the seat base 112 that slidably engages the sliding strip 188 to allow the reinforcement 20 to slide back and forth with respect to the seat base 112. In order to move the reinforcements 20 together with the thigh support 38 operatively coupled to the bench 114, a pair of coupling pins 192 is mounted on an external side 194 of the bench 114. The coupling pins 192 engage the openings 198 provided at a front end 200 of the sliding strip 188. Consequently, since the ribs 20 are caused to move forward relative to the central seat cushion 36, the front edge 24 of the rib The 20 remains fixed relative to the front edge 40 of the thigh support 38 as the central seat cushion 36 extends. The sub-strip 186 thus allows the reinforcements 20 to move together with the movement of the thigh support 38. [035] Also, the sub-band 186 could be oriented at an angle of approximately 5 degrees from the center line of the seat, in order to allow the reinforcements 20 to be angled externally to maintain a consistent surface when the thigh support 38 has an angled side. as it stretches. Additionally, the reinforcement 20 can be a completely separate component from the structure of the central seat cushion 36, and coupled to the 11/12 central seat cushion 36 via sub-band 186 only on each side of central seat cushion 36.
