REVELATION FIELD [001] The present disclosure refers in general to a vehicle seat assembly and, more particularly, to manual independent thigh extensions for a vehicle seat.
BACKGROUND TO THE REVELATION [002] Modern vehicle seats are becoming more and more comfortable, according to studies aimed at an additional understanding of human ergonomics, posture and comfort. Car seat mounts that include comfort components in the car seat backrest and the car seat can provide the driver and passengers with enhanced comfort and increased resistance for long journeys in the vehicle. In addition, various sizes and shapes of drivers and passengers can be challenging when providing vehicle seat mounts. Consequently, vehicle seat mounts that include components to accommodate the different sizes and shapes of drivers and passengers, as well as the desired seating positions and posture of these drivers and passengers, have become increasingly important. SUMMARY OF DESCRIPTION [003] In accordance with one aspect of the present disclosure, a vehicle seat assembly includes a seat base. A seat back is operationally coupled to a rear of the seat base. The first and second independently movable thigh supports include a top side, a bottom side, an outer side and an inner side. A slide assembly is operatively coupled to each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports. Each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports is independently translatable sideways to the front of the seat base. A button assembly operationally secures the brackets
2/20 thigh in each of a variety of lateral positions. The button assembly is arranged on the outside of each thigh support. A spring mount urges each thigh support to a completely forward side position. A pivot member operatively couples each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports to the seat base. Each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports is rotatable relative to the seat base.
[004] In accordance with another aspect of the present disclosure, a vehicle seat assembly includes a seat base. The first and second independently movable thigh supports are coupled to a front portion of the seat base. Each thigh support is rotatable relative to the seat base and translatable sideways to the front of the seat base. A spring mount urges each thigh support to a completely forward side position. A button assembly operationally secures the thigh supports in each of a variety of lateral positions.
[005] In accordance with yet another aspect of the present disclosure, a vehicle seat assembly includes a seat base and first and second thigh supports that are independently translatable sideways to the front relative to the seat base and upwardly pivoting in relation to the seat base. A spring mount urges each thigh support to pivot to a completely raised position. A button assembly operationally secures each thigh support in each of a variety of forward lateral positions.
[006] In accordance with yet another aspect of the present disclosure, a vehicle seat assembly includes a seat base that has independently movable first and second thigh supports. The thigh supports are operably coupled to a front portion of the seat base and are also swivelable with respect to the seat base. The thigh supports are spring-oriented to a completely lateral position
3/20 front and include a button assembly that is operable to allow secure engagement of the thigh supports in each of a variety of lateral positions. The vehicle seat assembly is configured to provide exceptional support and comfort to passengers both during short trips in the vehicle and during extended trips, [007] These and other aspects, objectives and resources of the present disclosure will be understood and appreciated by those skilled in the art by studying the following specification, claims and attached drawings.

[027] With reference to the modality generally illustrated in Figures 1-7, reference number 9 designates a vehicle that has a vehicle seat assembly 10 that includes a lower seat backrest 12. An upper seat backrest 14 is coupled so operational to the lower seat backrest 12. The upper seat backrest 14 is pivotally mounted on the lower seat backrest 12 on a pivot geometric axis 16. An arched rear support bar 18 is arranged on the upper seat backrest 14 and is configured to rotate the upper seatback 14 between the front and rear positions. The arched rear support bar 18 includes first and second generally linear members 20, 22 and an intermediate portion
6/20 arched 24 disposed between the first and the second generally linear members 20, 22 (Figure 3). A reclining assembly operationally couples the lower seat backrest 12 to the upper seat backrest 14.
[028] Referring again to Figure 1, the illustrated vehicle seat assembly 10 is configured for use on a vehicle of any type, which includes, without limitation, cars, vans, trucks, buses, etc. The vehicle seat assembly 10 is suspended on rails that allow the movement of the vehicle seat assembly 10 in front and rear directions. In addition, the vehicle seat assembly 10 can include a variety of comfort controls, which includes, for example, thigh support using independent thigh supports 30, lumbar support and upper chest support. The vehicle seat assembly 10 includes a head restraint 32 which is arranged on the upper seat backrest 14, The head restraint 32 is movable between front and rear positions to accommodate passenger heads of various sizes, as well as different passenger heights. The vehicle seat assembly 10 also includes controls specifically configured to adjust an upper thoracic portion 34 of the upper seat back 14.
[029] Referring to Figure 3, the vehicle seat assembly 10 includes a seat back assembly 48 with a seat back suspension system 50 supported on a frame 52. Frame 52 of the seat back assembly 48 of vehicle seat assembly 10 includes a first side support 54 and a second side support 56 that define the frame 52. The first and second side supports 54, 56 of the frame 52 pivotally engage a rear portion of a seat 60 and extend to up from seat 60 to a top portion of seat back assembly 48 and connect to an upper side clamp 62. Upper side clamp 62 of seat back assembly 48 extends between the first and second side supports 54 56. A
7/20 head restraint 32 is operatively coupled to the upper side clamp 62 of the seat back assembly 48 and is substantially centered between the first and second side supports 54, 56. The upper side clamp 62, as well as a side clamp lower 64, of the seat back suspension system 50 are coupled to and are distributed between the first and second side supports 54, 56, such that the seat back suspension system 50 is generally positioned between the head restraint 32 and seat 60 to support a passenger's back. It is contemplated that the head restraint 32 may be integrated into the top portion of the seat back assembly 48 or that the head restraint 32 may otherwise not be included in the vehicle seat assembly 10.
[030] Referring again to Figure 3, the first and second side supports 54, 56 extend upward from a reclining core support 66 that has a reclining core 67 that pivotally engages the seat back assembly 48 to seat 60. The first and second side supports 54, 56 are substantially parallel to each other and curl up and back from the reclining core support 66 to provide a curved shape that complements the shape of the spine of a passenger. In addition, the first and second side supports 54, 56 are thicker and more robust adjacent to the reclining core support 66 and taper as they extend upwards to mate with the upper side bracket 62 which extends orthogonally between the first and second supports 54, 56. The upper side bracket 62 of frame 52 includes connectors 68 for securing the head restraint 32 to a central portion of the upper side bracket 62 centrally between the first and second side supports 54, 56. Connectors 68 are defined by upwardly designed flaps configured to engage the head restraint 32.
[031] Referring again to Figures 3-7, the seat back
Bottom 8/20 12 of the seat back suspension system 50, as shown in Figure 3, includes bending members 70 extending from each of a first side connector 71 and a second side connector 73 of the backrest assembly seat 48. The first and second side connectors 71, 73 are operationally coupled to and support side shims 69 (Figure 2). The lower seat backrest 12 is positioned adjacent to the seat 60 and includes a lower comfort support 74 that supports the lower back of a passenger. Similarly, the upper seat backrest 14 of the seatback assembly 48 has an upper comfort support 75 operatively coupled to a curved flexing member 76 operatively coupled to the arched rear support bar 18. The flexion 76 of the upper side clamp 62 is disposed above the first and second side connectors 71, 73. Flexion member 76 includes a recess 77 in a top portion of it configured to properly separate flexion member 76 from head restraint 32 The bending member 76 also includes a plurality of outwardly extending reinforcing flanges 81. The curved bending member 76 includes connection features 83 that function as pressure-engaging connection arrangements to secure the upper comfort support 75 in the curved bending member 76. In the illustrated embodiment, the arched rear support bar 18 is coupled to the bending member 76 through a friction fit. Other connection provisions are also contemplated. It is conceivable that the upper and lower seat backs 12, 14 can be integrated into a single component or into several components distributed by the seat back assembly 48.
[032] The flexing member 76 of the upper seatback 14 of the seatback suspension system 50, as shown in Figures 4-7, generally defines a support basket that supports the upper back of a passenger. The flexing member 76 of the upper side clamp 62 is coupled to the arched rear support bar 18 that extends
9/20 laterally between the first and second side supports 54, 56 of the frame 52. The arched rear support bar 18 is pivotally coupled with respect to the pivot pins 92 to allow the flexing member 76 to pivot back and forth in around the pivot geometry axis 16. Additionally, the arched rear support bar 18 is operably coupled to a motor 94 via a connecting member 96 to rotate the arched rear support bar 18 in an adjustable manner. Consequently, the backrest upper seat 14 can be pivoted back and forth in relation to a plurality of angled positions with respect to the lower seat backrest 12 and frame 52, as described in greater detail below.
[033] Referring again to Figures 3-6, pivot pins 92 generally define the geometric axis of pivot 16. The upper seat backrest 14 includes a front pivot portion that is operatively coupled to the lower seat backrest 12 More specifically, the front pivot portion is pivotally mounted on the lower seat backrest 12 on the pivot geometry axis 16. The arched rear support bar 18 is arranged on the upper seat backrest 14 and configured to rotate the upper seat backrest 14 between the front and rear positions. The rear arcuate support bar 18 includes a generally U-shaped configuration. The first and second generally linear members 20, 22 and the arcuate intermediate portion 24 generally define a central open space 102 in the seat back assembly 48. A seat assembly articulation operatively couples the front pivot portion of the upper seat back 14 to the seat back assembly 48 and allows movement between the front and rear positions. Notably, the flexing member 76 or support basket can be attached to the arcuate intermediate portion 24 of the arcuate rear support bar 18 or it can be overmoulded directly onto the arcuate intermediate portion 24. The arcuate rear support bar 18 is connected to the supports that extend forward in relation to the first and second generally linear members 20, 22 of the bar
10/20 rear arched support 18. The rear arched support bar 18 is configured to rotate around a front portion of the supports on pivot pins 92. Consequently, the entire upper seat back 14 can be rotated around a front portion of the supports.
[034] The seatback suspension system 50, as shown in Figure 3, includes frame 52, which can be constructed of metal or other rigid material and a rigid rear panel 120 configured to substantially surround a rear portion of frame 52 The vehicle seat assembly 10 also includes a front cutout panel 130. The front cutout panel 130, together with the rigid rear panel 120, generally defines a housing that covers frame 52 of the seatback assembly 48. The panel rigid rear 120 engages frame 52 to substantially surround a rear portion of frame 52. Similarly, front cutout panel 130 engages a front portion of frame 52 to surround a top front portion of frame 52. The panel front cutout 130 includes a mounting cut 133 to accommodate head restraint 32, which extends through it to couple with upper side bracket 62 of frame 52. The cutout panel and front 130 and rigid rear panel 120 also engage frame 52 adjacent to upper side bracket 62, first side support 54 and second side support 56, substantially surrounding a portion of the edge of frame 52. Front cutout panel 130 and the rigid rear panel 120 is typically molded with a polymeric material and the frame 52 is constructed substantially of steel, aluminum or another substantially rigid metal. It is conceivable that alternative training materials or methods can be used for the frame and frame 52. In addition, the frame, or portions thereof, can conceivably be integrated into frame 52.
[035] Referring again to Figure 3, the upper seat back 14 and the lower seat back 12 of the seat back suspension system 50 are configured to operationally couple to a
11/20 passenger cushion assembly 140. More specifically, the flexing members 70, 76 on the lower seat backrest 12 and the upper seat backrest 14, respectively, extend forward to engage and support a passenger's back. The passenger cushion assembly 140 includes the lower comfort support 74, the upper comfort support 75, a cushion assembly 142 and a blanket 144. Flexing members 70, 76 operationally couple to the lower comfort support 74 and the superior comfort support 75 in a press fit and friction fit arrangement. The cushion assembly 142 is arranged between the lower comfort support 74 and the upper comfort support 75 and the blanket 144 and between the lower comfort support 74 and the blanket 144. It is conceivable that the passenger pillow assembly 140 may include more or less layers between the blanket 144 and the upper comfort support 75. Additionally, it is conceivable that the passenger cushion assembly 140 can be an integral part with the flexing members 70, 76 of the seat back suspension system 50 .
[036] As shown in Figure 3, the flexing members 70 include three connecting features 150 arranged longitudinally and in alignment with complementary features in the first and second side connectors 71, 73 of the lower seat backrest 12 to secure the flexing members 70 of the lower seat backrest 12 in the passenger cushion assembly 140. The flexing members 70 of the lower seat backrest 12 extend forward and out of the seat backrest assembly 48 to create an outer peripheral gap 152. The pivot 92 pivotally coupled to the first and second side connectors 71, 73, generally above the lower side clamp 64.
[037] Now with reference again to Figures 1-5, the vehicle seat assembly 10 includes a seat 200. The seat back assembly 48 is operationally coupled to a rear seat 200. Each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 includes an outer housing 205 that has a top side 206, a side
Bottom 12/20 208, an outer side 210 and an inner side 212. The first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 are operatively coupled to a seat base 213 at a rear of the seat 200. The first and second second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 are slidably supported in a slide assembly 214. Each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 is independently translatable sideways back and forth with respect to the seat 200. A button assembly 220 operably secures the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 in each of a variety of lateral positions. The button assembly 220 is arranged on the outer side 210 of each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 and held in place by a button housing 221. A spring assembly 222 incites each thigh support 202, 204 to a completely forward side position. A pivot member 224 operatively couples each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 to the seat 200. Each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 is rotatable with respect to the seat 200 .
[038] As noted earlier, the vehicle seat assembly 10 is supported on rail slide assemblies 225 (Figure 2) that include a rail 226 fixedly attached to a vehicle floor and a slide 227 fixedly attached to an underside or bottom of the seat 200 of the vehicle seat assembly 10. The rail 226 is slidably coupled to the slide 227, such that the vehicle seat assembly 10 can be moved between front and rear positions within the vehicle.
[039] As shown in Figures 3 and 4, seat 200 includes a carrier 240 which is operably coupled to a seat base frame 242, and which is configured to support a seat pad assembly 244 and padding 246 the same. It is also
13/20 a climate control system is provided which can draw air or blow air from the openings 247 of the seat cushion assembly 244. The seat cushion assembly 244 includes a main cushion 248, side bolsters 249 and cushions front thigh support bracket 251. Carrier 240 includes a peripheral carrier bracket 250 that interacts directly or indirectly with seat base frame 242 (Figure 2). The seat base frame 242 is operationally coupled to the rail slide assemblies 225 mentioned above. The first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 are operatively coupled to a front portion of the seat 200 and, as noted above, are configured to rotate up and down relative to the seat 200 between raised and lowered positions, and are also configured to move sideways between extended and retracted positions in relation to seat 200. The first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 are also independent.
Specifically, the first independently movable thigh support 202 can be in the raised position, while the second independently movable thigh support 204 can be in the lowered position, or in any position between the raised and lowered positions. The first and second side seat supports are adjacent to the independently movable first and second thigh supports 202, 204 and help to cushion and provide support to a passenger's buttocks.
[040] Peripheral carrier holder 250 also includes flexible holders in the form of leg extension 260 finishers. Each leg extension 260 finisher supports the seat cushion 244 mount on the front thigh support cushions 251. The leg extension finishing carriers 260 allow the movement of each one between the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 between extended and retracted positions, as well as between raised and lowered positions, according to the
14/20 first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 move. Leg extension finishing carriers 260 may include a variety of constructions that may include openings 259 or a generally solid construction. The 259 openings minimize the weight of the 260 leg extension trim carriers, and add the overall flexibility of the 260 leg extension trim carriers. Regardless, the 260 leg extension trim carriers include a body portion that it has a sinusoidal or wavy construction defined by alternating ridges and ridges, thereby providing an articulated or corrugated construction that allows considerable flexibility as the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 are adjusted. As will be revealed in further detail below, the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 include spring assemblies 270 configured to incite each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 to pivot to a fully position raised, as well as spring assemblies configured to orient the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 to a fully extended position.
[041] Referring again to Figures 3 and 4, the independent flexible extension finishing carriers 260 are configured to support the front thigh support pads 251 and a portion of the pad 246 thereon. At the same time, the leg extension trim carriers are configured to slide against the independently movable first and second thigh supports 202, 204, as the independently movable first and second thigh supports 202, 204 are hinged between raised and lowered positions and between extended and retracted positions. Consequently, the 260 leg extension trim carriers allow a uniform and constant feel for the passenger according to the first and second thigh supports
Independently movable 15/20 202, 204 are adjusted. In the illustrated modality, there are 10 flexible joints 262 and corrugations 261 that allow the movement of the finishing members of leg extension 260. However, it is contemplated that any number of flexible joints may be present and that any number of corrugations 261 may be present . In general, numerous corrugations should be considered that result in a low profile and do not substantially increase the overall engagement surface area between the 260 leg extension finish carrier and the underlying independent thigh support and leg extension.
[042] Now, with reference to Figures 5 and 6, each carcass 205 of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 includes a generally flat and smooth top side 206. A front portion of each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 are round to provide comfort to a passenger and also to provide a low-friction interface with the 260 leg extension finish carriers. A rear portion of each of the first and second thigh supports independently movable 202, 204 is pivotally coupled to pivot member 224. Each pivot member 224 includes spring assembly 270 which incites each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 to a completely elevated position. A rear portion of pivot member 224 includes a flange that assists in coupling the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 to the seat 200.
[043] Now, with reference to Figure 7, the first independently movable thigh support 202 is generally shown with the seat pad assembly 244 and the padding 246 in dashed line. In addition, the leg extension finishing carrier 260 for the first independently movable is also shown in dashed line. The second independently movable thigh support 204 is shown only with the leg extension finish holder 260 in place and uninvolved
16/20 around the housing 205 of the second independently movable thigh support 204. The slides of the thigh support 227 are slidably coupled to the rails 226. Each rail 226 includes first and second vertical flanges 271 on which the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 are configured to slide between front and rear positions. The button assembly 220 is configured to allow movement of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 between front and rear positions. Thigh support slide 227 includes numerous flanges 280 that extend upwardly from a body portion 282 of each slide thigh support 227 to provide slide 227 with additional structural integrity as slide 227 moves over rail 226 between various positions. [044] Now, with reference to Figure 8, each leg extension finish carrier 260 includes a rear hitch flange 289 that is operatively coupled to upward extending connection features 290. The extension finish carrier 260 can be heat-sealed, adhered, mechanically secured, etc. connection features 290. The seat cushion assembly 244 is configured to extend over the leg extension finish holder 260 and around the leg extension finish holder 260 to a bottom side of both the first and the second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204. In addition, each leg extension finish carrier 260 includes peripheral finish fixing features 291 that secure the front thigh support pads 251 and / or padding 144 to the finish carrier leg extension 260. A front portion of peripheral carrier support 250 includes tabs 284 configured to receive a portion of the seat cushion assembly 244 and padding 246, thereby providing a seam between the seat 200 and the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204.
17/20 [045] Referring now to Figures 9-11, the button assembly 220 is illustrated in a general position adjacent to the leg extension finish holder 260 and the seat cushion assembly 244. As will be shown in greater detail, the button assembly 220 of each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 is operatively coupled to a lever 300 which is pivotally coupled to each of the first and second thigh supports independently furniture 202, 204 using a pivot pin 301. The lever 300 is operable between engaged and disengaged positions. A bottom side of the rail 226 includes a plurality of latch slots 302 which generally define stop openings configured to receive a latch end 316 of lever 300. As shown in Figure 9, the first independently movable thigh support 202 is shown in position rear so that lever 300 engages in a rearmost engagement groove 302. Spring assemblies 222 act to orient the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 to the fully extended position. In the illustrated embodiment, spring assemblies 222 include one or more tension springs. In this way, the spring assembly 222 for the first independently movable thigh support 202 is shown in an extended state in Figure 9.
[046] The same construction is shown in Figures 10 and 11, which provides a bottom view of the button assembly 220 and the lever engagement 300 to the rearmost engagement groove 302 which corresponds to the first independently movable thigh support 202 that is in the most posterior position. Each button assembly 220 is spring-oriented by a helical spring 310 (Figures 11 and 15) or other type of guiding member to hold lever 300 in a position engaged with one of the variety of engagement grooves 302 arranged under the rail 226 of each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204.
[047] Lever 300 includes an intermediate body portion 312 that is
18/20 pivotally connected to a contiguous hitch member 314. The contiguous hitch member 314 is in contiguous contact with an internal portion of the button assembly 220. Lever 300 also includes the hitch end 316 configured to engage either of the engagement grooves 302 provided at the bottom of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204. Consequently, to move the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204, a user would simply engage the button assembly 220, which results in disengaging the engagement end 316 from one of the engagement grooves 302. A user can then move one of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 depending on preferences. In addition, due to the fact that the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 are independently movable, the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 can be adjusted in different positions. As noted earlier, the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 are oriented to an extended position, but are easily moved by a user to a more rear position, if desired.
[048] Now, in reference to Figure 12 and as mentioned earlier, each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204 is also operable for an extended position. In the extended position, slides 227 are completely front and a smaller portion of the leg extension finish holder 260 (Figure 13) extends under the first and second independently movable thigh supports 202, 204. Slide 227 is configured to slide the maximum forward allowed in order to engage the earliest engagement groove 302. When lever 300 is engaged in the earliest engagement groove 302, the relevant thigh support is in the most forward position. Obviously, the thigh support can be positioned in any of a variety of positions that correspond to lever 300 that engages any of the
19/20 hitch 302 arranged on the underside of each rail 226.
[049] Referring to Figures 14-16, the first independently movable thigh support 202 is illustrated as being in a more forward position, so that lever 300 is now engaged in a more anterior engaging groove 302 on a bottom of the rail 226. In this position, the front seat length of seat 200 is longer. Additionally, as shown in Figure 14, spring assembly 222, which includes a tension spring, is compressed and has been pulled against the guiding force of the spring. [050] It will be understood by an element of common knowledge in the art that the construction of the described disclosure and other components is not limited to any specific material. Other exemplary embodiments of the disclosure disclosed in the present invention can be formed from a wide variety of materials, unless otherwise described in the present invention.
[051] For purposes of this disclosure, the term coupled (in all its forms, coupling, coupling, coupled, etc.) generally means the joining of two components (electrical or mechanical) directly or indirectly to each other. Such a junction can be stationary in nature or mobile in nature. Such a junction can be achieved with the two components (electrical or mechanical) and any additional intermediate members that are integrally formed as a single unitary body with each other or with the two components. Claims (20)
[1]
1. Vehicle seat assembly characterized by comprising: a seat base;
a seat back operatively coupled to a rear of the seat base;
first and second independently movable thigh supports, wherein each of the thigh supports includes a top side, a bottom side, an outer side and an inner side;
a slide assembly operatively coupled to each of the thigh supports, wherein each of the thigh supports is independently translatable sideways to the front relative to the seat base;
a button assembly operable to secure the thigh supports in any of a variety of lateral positions, where the button assembly is arranged on the outside of each thigh support;
a spring-loaded assembly that forces each thigh support to a full lateral and front position; and a pivot member operatively coupling each of the thigh supports to the seat base, wherein each of the thigh supports is rotatable with respect to the seat base.

Car seat assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that the button assembly includes a lever that is spring-oriented to engage a stop opening.

Vehicle seat assembly according to claim 2, characterized in that the lever is arranged below and constitutes a single piece with the slide assembly.

Vehicle seat assembly according to claim 2, characterized in that the stop opening and a lever engaging end are arranged behind the button assembly.

2/4 characterized in that the spring assembly includes a tension spring that couples a rear portion of at least one of the first and second thigh supports independently movable to the slide assembly.

Car seat assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports includes a tension spring that engages a rear portion of one of the first and second independently movable thigh supports slide assembly.

7. Vehicle seat assembly characterized by comprising: a seat base;
first and second independently movable thigh supports coupled to a front portion of the seat base, where each thigh support is rotatable relative to the seat base and translatable sideways to the seat base, a spring assembly which incites each thigh support to a completely forward lateral position; and an operable button assembly for securing the thigh supports in any of a variety of lateral positions.

Vehicle seat assembly according to claim 7, characterized in that the button assembly includes a lever which is spring oriented to engage a defined opening opening in a slide assembly.

Vehicle seat assembly according to claim 7, characterized in that the first and second independently movable thigh supports are spring oriented to an elevated position.

Vehicle seat assembly according to claim 8, characterized in that the stop opening and a lever engaging end are arranged behind the button assembly.

3/4 characterized in that the spring assembly includes a tension spring that couples a rear portion of at least one of the first and second thigh supports independently movable to the slide assembly.

Vehicle seat assembly according to claim 7, characterized in that each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports includes a tension spring that engages a rear portion of one of the first and second independently movable thigh supports slide assembly.

Car seat assembly according to claim 7, characterized in that each of the first and second independently movable thigh supports includes a leg extension finish carrier.

14. Vehicle seat assembly characterized by comprising: a seat base;
first and second thigh supports that are independently translatable sideways forwards relative to the seat base and pivoting upwards relative to the seat base;
a spring assembly that forces each thigh support to pivot to a completely elevated position; and an operable button assembly to secure each thigh support in any of a variety of front side positions.

Vehicle seat assembly according to claim 14, characterized in that the button assembly includes a lever that is spring-oriented to engage a defined stop opening in a slide assembly.
