Background of the Invention [0001] The present invention relates, in general, to implements for cooking, and pressure cookers for food. In particular, the present invention relates to an improved microwave pressure cooker with safety interlocking features, and protection against pressure locking. [0002] Pressure cookers for use in microwave ovens are known in the literature, document US 4,796,776 by Dalquist et al. a good example. In practice, however, these devices must meet a variety of safety regulations, including safety interlock features. The nature of these microwave pressure cookers is not suitable for existing interlocking arrangements. Summary of the Invention [0003] An object of the present invention is to provide a microwave pressure cooker that offers safety interlocking features. [0004] Another object of the present invention is to provide a pressure cooker for microwave equipped with a positive safety lock that prevents opening the cooker without releasing internal pressure. [0005] Another object of the present invention is to provide a pressure indicator that also works to prevent negative pressure inside the pan during cooling. [0006] These and other objects are hit by a microwave pressure cooker. The pressure cooker includes a safety interlock that meets current regulations. A blow exhaust is provided on the pan lid, and a locking bar is pivoted relative to the pan lid in a position to block the blow exhaust when the locking bar is resting under its own weight. The free end of the locking bar includes a locking tab with a rib extending outward. The locking tab extends through a slot in the outer contour of the cover. The base of the pan includes a handle with a cam section ending in a locking wall. The pan lid is placed on a base in a release position and rotated to a locking position. During this rotation, the locking tab overlaps the cam section and then hangs adjacent to the locking wall, thereby sealing the blowing exhaust. After cooking, the cover is physically prevented from rotating back to the release position by the locking tab touching the locking wall. The user can physically suspend the locking bar, which in turn opens the blowing exhaust to ensure that internal pressure is released. The groove can keep the locking bar in the raised position during rotation to the release position. Brief Description of Drawings [0007] The objects and resources of the invention noted above are explained in more detail with reference to the drawings, in which equal reference numbers denote the same elements, and in which: [0008] FIG. 1 is a top perspective view of a microwave pressure cooker according to the present invention in the locking position. [0009] FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view from the top of it. [00010] FIG. 3 is a bottom perspective view of the pressure cooker lid. [00011] FIG. 4 is a top perspective view of the pressure cooker in the release position. [00012] FIGS. 5a-5c are seen in detailed cross section generally along line 5 - 5 of FIG. 1 illustrating the movements of the locking bar during locking and release. [00013] FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view in detail along line A-A of FIG. 1 illustrating the pressure relief valve. [00014] FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view in detail along line A-A of FIG. 1 illustrating the pressure indicator. [00015] FIG. 8 is a top perspective view of a pressure indicator shaft according to the present invention. Detailed Description of the Invention [00016] With reference to FIG. 1, a microwave pressure cooker according to the present invention is generally designated by reference number 10. Cooker 10 includes a base 12 in the form of a bowl with an upper peripheral edge, and a cover 14 which is generally concave , with a lid extending downwards 16 sized to fit over the edge of the base 12. The cover and base are formed of a polymer suitable for the microwave. As seen in FIG. 2, the base 12 includes a set of spaced bayonet shoulders 18 extending radially outwardly, and peripherally spaced over the upper peripheral edge. Similarly, the cover 14 includes a set of conjugation lugs 20 extending radially inward, and peripherally spaced over the rim 16. As shown in the art, the conjugation lugs 20 can pass vertically between the bayonet lugs 18 only in a release position of the cover 14 with respect to the base 12. Rotating the cover 14 with respect to the base from this release position the conjugation lugs 20 will pass below the bayonet lugs until the cover 14 reaches a locking position with relation to the base 12. In this locking position, the interference with the shoulders 18 and 20 prevents the cover from rising in relation to the base, and this is the operational condition of the pan 10. [00017] As shown in the art, an annular gasket 22 is provided to seal between the base 12 and the cover 14. The gasket 22 will preferably be loosely retained within the rim 16 of the cover 14 to facilitate assembly. Pan 10 also includes a pair of base handles 24 extending out of diametrically opposite positions on the base 12, and a pair of cover handles 26 extending radially out of diametrically opposite positions on the cover 14. These they are placed in such a way that the cover handles 26 align and overlap the base handles 24 when the cover 14 is in the locked position. This is shown in FIG. 1. [00018] The cover 14 includes first and second valve holes 28 and 30, respectively, spaced apart. The first orifice 28 will receive an elastomeric pressure relief valve 32 best illustrated in FIG. 6. Valve 32 takes the form of a disk sized for the first orifice 28 and provided with spaced peripheral flanges that will overlap the top and bottom faces of the cover 14 to removably attach the valve 32 to the cover 14. The valve includes a cut or cuts 34, and the valve will deform under pressure inside the pan to open cut 34 and allow steam to be discharged while maintaining a desired pressure. As can be seen, it is preferable that the valve 32 is formed symmetrically, in such a way that each face can be inserted facing outwards and still operate properly. [00019] The second orifice 30 will receive a pressure indicator valve 36. As best shown in FIG. 7 the indicator valve includes an elastomeric indicator disc 38 attached similarly to that of the pressure relief valve 32, but including a central orifice 40. Received in the central orifice 40 is an indicator stem 42 with an enlarged base 44 inside the pan 10 , a choke 46 received slidingly into orifice 40, and a slightly enlarged head 48 to prevent shaft 42 from slipping. As is known in the art, the pressure inside the pan will cause the shaft 42 to rise, providing a visual indication that the pan is under pressure. [00020] In the preferred embodiment, both holes 28 and 30 have the same diameter as valve 32 and disc 38. This arrangement will allow the user to place valves 32 and 36 in hole 28 or 30 and prevent any incorrect assembly. [00021] During cooking after cooking the indicator shaft will finally hang to the position shown in FIG. 7 due to a lack of internal pressure. Although the choke 46 is smaller than the orifice 40, the lower end of the head 48 can plug the orifice 40 in this resting position. As food continues to cook, this can cause a negative pressure situation inside pan 10, making it difficult to open. To avoid this, the lower end of the head 48 includes at least one channel 50 providing fluid communication with the atmosphere even in the resting position of FIG. 7. The channel 50 may be formed by two or more flanges 52 extending outward from the lower end of the head 48. Alternatively, the indicator disc 38 may include channels (not shown) formed by extending ribs (not shown) over orifice 40 to allow for fluid communication. Each of these provisions is intended to be covered by the term medium to allow fluid communication with the atmosphere while in the resting position. [00022] Pan 10 also includes a safety interlock arrangement. The cover 14 includes a locking bar 54 provided with a first end 56 hinged on the cover 14 to define a free end 58. The first end 56 can be hinged on the cover 14 via conjugation projections and depressions formed in the cover 14 and the locking 54. The locking bar can thus be rotated (swung) up and down with respect to the cover 14. The free end 58 of the locking bar extends beyond the flange 16 and above one of the cover handles 26. This cover handle 26 includes a slot 60 extending through it. The free end 58 of the locking bar 54 includes a locking tab 62 extending below it and sized to be freely received through the slot 60. As best shown in FIG. 4, when the cover 14 is placed on the base 10 in the release position the locking tab 62 will be adjacent to a first edge of the base handle 24. [00023] This first edge of the base handle 24 includes a cam section projecting upwards 64 to engage with a leading edge 66 of the locking tab 62 as the cover 14 (and thus the tab locking 62) is rotated from the release position to the locking position. One or both of the locking tabs 62 and the cam section 64 are tapered to gently raise the locking tab (and thus rotating the entire locking bar 54) during this cover rotation. The cam section 64 also defines a locking wall 68 at its rear edge forming a vertical contact. The length of the cam section 64 is chosen so that when the cover 14 is in the locking position with respect to the base 12, the locking wall 68 is closely adjacent to a trailing edge 70 (FIG. 2) of the locking tab 62. [00024] The locking operation will now be described. As noted, when the cover 14 is placed first on the base 12 in the release position the leading edge 66 of the locking tab 62 will be adjacent to the base handle 24 and the cam section 64 present in this handle. This is best shown in FIG. 4. The user then manually rotates the cover to the locking position (clockwise in the mode shown). This will cause the locking tab 62 to rise and overlap the cam section 64 (rotating the entire locking bar 54). This is best illustrated in FIG. 5th. Upon continuous rotation the cover 14 will reach the locking position, in which the point of the locking tab 62 will reach the end of the cam section 64 and will hang under its own weight (again rotating the entire locking bar 54). In this position, the trailing edge 70 of the locking tab 62 will be adjacent to the locking wall 68 formed by the end of the cam section 64. This is illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 5b. [00025] As can be seen, any attempt to manually rotate cover 14 from the locking position to the release position will be physically blocked by the locking tab 62 going into contact with the locking wall 68. To open the pan 10 the user needs manually raise the locking bar 54 to move the locking tab 62 above the height of the locking wall 68. Although not required, it is preferable to provide the locking tab 62 with a projecting groove 72 positioned to keep the locking tab in this elevated position for contact with the slot 60 (with the locking tab 54 deforming elastically to allow the groove to overlap the slot 60). This is illustrated in FIG. 5c. With this arrangement, the user cannot keep the locking bar in the elevated position of FIG. 5c, and can instead hold the various handles and rotate the cover 14. Finally, the free end of the locking tab 62 can include a cutout 74 intended to contact the slot 60 to prevent the locking tab 62 from coming out out of the slot 60 when the user reverses the cover 14 during use. [00026] Although not required, it is preferable that the cover 14 also includes a blow exhaust 76 extending through it in a position below the locking bar 54. The locking bar 54 will then include a coupling plug 78 on its face lower positioner to block the blowing exhaust when the locking bar 54 is in the rest position. To provide an appropriate seal and ensure pressure within the pan 10, the plug 78 may be formed as an elastomeric button (as shown), or the blowing vent 76 may have an elastomeric ring (not shown). Finally, the flange 16 of the cover 14 can include a ring bore 80 extending through it in a position adjacent to the joint 22. As best illustrated in FIGS. 5a-c, the ring bore is sized to be blocked by the joint 22 during normal use. [00027] The operation and all security features will now be described. When the cover 14 is first placed on the base 12 in the release position, the lugs 18 and 20 are not yet engaged. As such, the cover 14 can be raised freely with respect to the base 12 and no pressure can be reached in the pan. Once the user begins to rotate the cover 14 to the locking position, then the locking tab 62 will run upwards over the cam section 64. This will rotate the entire locking bar 54, thus raising the plug 78 to open the blower exhaust 76. This again prevents pressure from being reached inside the pan 10. Once the cover 14 has been rotated to the locking position, the locking bar 54 will rotate downwards, with the locking tab 62 doing hang the locking wall 68 of the cam section 64. This will make the plug 78 block the blowing exhaust 76. At this point, with the shoulders 18 and 20 fully engaged in the locking position, the pressure can be reached in the pan 10, with an increase in the internal temperature due to cooking. [00028] The microwaves will pass the pan 10 to heat the food and thus increase the internal pressure inside the pan 10. As the internal pressure increases, the indicator shaft 42 will rise to provide an indication visual to the user of proper operation. The relief valve 32 is designed to deform and open the cut 34 when it reaches the desired operating pressure, in order to depressurize the pan 10 and prevent any additional pressure increase above the operating pressure. However, if the indicator valve 36 becomes blocked and the pressure rises considerably above the operating pressure, then the indicator disk 38 is designed to deform and be expelled from its orifice 30 to depressurize pan 10. Similarly, if the indicator disc 38 ceases to dislodge, and the pressure rises further, then the relief valve 32 is similarly designed to deform and be expelled from orifice 28. This would again depressurize the pan 10. If all these measures fail, and the pressure rises further, then seal hole 80 has been designed and sized to allow gasket 22 to deform under pressure through seal hole 80 to depressurize pan 10. Finally, if all measurements the previous ones fail and the pressure rises further, then the plug 78 will be raised by the pressure (rotating the locking bar 54 upwards against its own weight) to depressurize the pan again 10. Note again that the locking bar 54 is not held in the rest position of FIG. 5b, but simply rests there under its own weight, and is raised freely by the user (or internal pressure, as described). [00029] After the food has been cooked at the appropriate time, microwaves are no longer applied. The food inside pot 10 starts to cool and the internal pressure starts to drop. Indicator shaft 42 will hang when the pressure is reduced. However, pan 10 can still contain pressure. As noted above, the rotation of the cover 14 from the locking position to the release position is blocked by the trailing edge 70 of the locking tab 62 if it contacts the locking wall 68. The user must first manually raise the locking tab 62, thus rotating the locking bar 54 to a position as shown in FIG. 5c. As shown there, this will prevent the plug 78 from blocking the blowing exhaust 76. In this way, the pan 10 is automatically depressurized by the same operation that unlocked the cover for opening. This discharge occurs while the cover is still in the locking position and the shoulders 18 and 20 are still engaged. As such, it is ensured that the pan is depressurized before the cover 14 reaches the release position. [00030] From the foregoing it will be seen that this invention is well adapted to achieve all the purposes and objects expressed above, with the other advantages that are inherent to its structure. [00031] It will be understood that certain resources and sub-combinations are useful and can be used without reference to other resources and sub-combinations. This is contemplated and is within the scope of the claims. [00032] Since many possible modalities can be realized of the invention without departing from its scope, it is important to understand that the material presented here and shown in the attached drawings must be interpreted as illustrative, and not in a limiting sense.
