Finishing profile, and finishing set for a floor covering, and cutting tool for cutting it.
This invention relates to a finishing profile for a floor covering, as well as to a finishing set and a cutting tool for cutting such a finishing profile. More specifically, the invention relates to a finishing set consisting of at least one holder and at least one finishing profile that can be attached to the holder, and an associated cutting tool.
In particular, the invention is intended to be used in combination with floor coverings that are composed of a plurality of panels or strips. This can include both floor coverings installed as floating surfaces and floor coverings that are glued flat to the surface, for example consisting of several laminate panels, panels for ready-to-lay parquet, veneer parquet or solid parquet, plastic-based floor panels, such as vinyl panels of the type LVT (luxury vinyl tile), rigid LVT, WPC (wood or waterproof plastic composite) or SPC (stone plastic composite), panels from compact laminate, and the like. However, this does not exclude that it can also be used in combination with other floor coverings.
When installing floor coverings, such as floating floor coverings, measures must be taken in a large number of cases to finish their edges. Such additional edges to be finished may occur at the end of the floor covering, for example against a wall, at a transition to another type of floor covering, or when providing an expansion joint between two floor coverings that may or may not be of different nature, with which is meant inter alia of different material or of different thickness.
It is known that a finishing set can be used for this purpose, which, as mentioned above, usually consists of at least one holder and at least one finishing profile which can be attached to the holder, the finishing profile allowing the relevant edge or
BE2018 / 5457 transition is covered by this and therefore also forms an aesthetic transition in most cases.
The holder usually consists of a rail-shaped profile that can preferably be fixed to the substrate, for example by means of sticking, screwing, nailing or simply by installing this profile partially under the floor covering. The holder usually also comprises a fixing part for fixing a finishing profile on the holder. The holder can extend continuously or interrupted under the finishing profile.
The finishing profile is usually designed as a decorative or non-multipart decorative strip or the like that can be pressed into the rail-shaped profile. Furthermore, it is known that such a finishing profile can be in the form of an end profile, transition profile as well as expansion profile or a combination thereof. End profiles usually serve for finishing against a wall, transition profiles for the transition from one type of floor covering to another type, and expansion profiles for bridging an expansion joint between two parts of a floor covering.
Such finishing sets and their component parts are known, inter alia, from EP 1 836 363 and EP 1 841 573. The finishing profile of the EP'363 is multifunctional and allows two or more combinations to be removed from each other or to form different transition profiles for floor coverings of said components, such as expansion profiles, end profiles, transition profiles and skirting boards. EP'363 discloses finishing profiles which, in addition to a flange-like portion extending on either side of a fixing portion located on the underside, also contain at least one nose portion, said at least one nose portion being left and / or right of the attachment portion and on the underside of the aforementioned flange-shaped portion. The aforementioned fixing portion serves to position the finishing profile in the holder. One or both nose portions of the finishing profile known from EP'363 can be removed in function of the application of the finishing profile by breaking, tearing, cutting, and so on.
BE2018 / 5457
US 2007/283654 and BE 1 019 657 illustrate further embodiments of multifunctional finishing profiles.
The invention aims in the first place at an alternative finishing profile and an alternative finishing set of the above-mentioned type, wherein according to various preferred embodiments a solution can be obtained for the problems with the finishing profiles and finishing sets from the prior art.
The invention is defined in the appended claims, and relates to a finishing set, having the features of the third aspect below, namely with a holder and a finishing profile, as defined in the first aspect below, which preferably further comprises a cutting tool, as defined in includes the second aspect below.
To this end, the invention according to its first independent aspect relates to a finishing profile for a floor covering, wherein this profile comprises at least one flange-shaped part which extends on either side of a fixing part located on the underside, characterized in that the flange-shaped part is formed in one piece from plastic and is provided to be divided at the location of the mounting part.
The finishing profile and associated finishing set for a floor covering according to the first independent aspect of the invention offer additional uses for the finishing profile. The division at the location of the fastening part can, when divided, lead to an attractive end profile. The design in plastic ensures sufficient mechanical strength, even with finishing profiles whose flange-like part is thin, for example less than 5 mm thick.
As aforementioned, an end profile can be obtained by dividing or finishing the finishing profile in two, whereby it is possible to use both halves as an end profile. It is clear that the division or separation of the various separable sections at the location of the fixing section is not necessary in all applications of the finishing profile. So for example it is possible that at least it
BE2018 / 5457 flange-shaped part, preferably together with the fixing part, can be used as a transition profile.
As aforementioned, at least the flange-shaped portion is formed in one piece from plastic. The complete finishing profile is preferably formed as a whole, for example by producing the flange-shaped part together with the fixing part and the optional nose parts, for example via extrusion. Because the finishing profile is formed in one piece from the same material, a stronger whole is obtained from the separable parts of the finishing profile, while they are nevertheless easily separable. In addition, the aforementioned holder can be formed separately, but in itself as a whole, for example also by means of extrusion.
It is clear from the foregoing that for the material of the finishing profile and / or the holder, an extrudable material is preferably chosen, such as for plastic or aluminum.
Examples of plastics are synthetic materials, for example a polymer or a copolymer, for example polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
The finishing profile and / or the holder can also consist of an extrudable metal, for example aluminum, steel, copper, etc.
The finishing profile and / or the holder can also be designed in a variant of these materials, such as a wood-based material, for example plywood, MDF / HDF, or the like.
According to a first practical example, both the finishing profile and the holder essentially consist of plastic. The finishing profile and the holder can here consist of substantially the same plastic, for example both of PVC, or substantially of a different plastic, for example the finishing profile of PVC and the holder of polypropylene (PP).
BE2018 / 5457
According to a second practical example, the finishing profile and the holder consist of different materials. For example, the holder may consist of plastic, while the finishing profile consists essentially of aluminum, or vice versa.
The invention further comprises a finishing profile, characterized in that the flange-shaped part is provided to be divided up in that the flange-shaped part has a part with locally reduced wall thickness at the location of the fixing part.
The flange-shaped part is preferably provided at the location of the fastening part with a part which deviates locally in thickness and / or composition from the global part of the flange-shaped part in order to facilitate the division of the flange-shaped part.
In a first preferred embodiment according to the invention, the flange-shaped part has a part with a locally reduced wall thickness at the location of the fixing part, for example a local wall thickness which is 10% to 90% of the overall wall thickness of the flange-shaped part, for example 20% to 80% , such as 25% to 75%, preferably 30% to 50%.
In a variant preferred embodiment, the flange-shaped part has a part with a different composition at the location of the fixing part, for example a more flexible or a less hard part. This can be achieved by using a different polymer locally, whereby the finishing profile is preferably extruded in one piece. This can also be achieved by adding local additives, such as plasticizers, whereby the finishing profile is also preferably extruded in one piece.
The invention further comprises a finishing profile wherein the aforementioned flange-shaped part has a covering. Said coating comprises at least one printed thermoplastic film.
BE2018 / 5457
Said covering is, for example, a layer-shaped covering that may or may not fit with the floor covering. This coating can be of any kind and can for instance consist of a film, such as a thermoplastic film. A variant composition is, for example, a thermosetting foil, a laminate, wood or plastic.
The aforementioned fixing portion of the finishing profile of the invention further comprises at least two fixing legs. The flange-shaped portion of the finishing profile is intended to be divided between the aforementioned two fixing legs.
The fixing part which comprises at least two fixing legs makes it easy to divide the flange-shaped part, provide a nice finish and provide sufficient stability for all applications of the finishing profile.
The finishing profile of the invention is further characterized in that the finishing profile comprises at least one nose portion, said nose portion having a surface connecting to the upper surface of the flange-shaped portion and extending transversely to said upper surface.
The aforementioned nose part is preferably designed to be removable, for example because this nose part is made in one piece in the same material with the flange-like part but is connected thereto over a part with a locally reduced wall thickness, or in that this nose part is designed as a separate material part which is at least via the aforementioned covering is connected to the flange-like part, and / or is connected to the flange-like part at least via a mechanically locking connection, and / or is connected to the flange-shaped part at least via a breakable or severable glue connection.
In a first embodiment, the nose portion is removable in that this nose portion is made in one piece in the same material with the flange-shaped portion but is connected thereto over a portion with a locally reduced wall thickness, for example a wall thickness that is 10% to 90% of the overall wall thickness of it
BE2018 / 5457 flanged portion, for example 20% to 80%, such as 25% to 75%, preferably 30% to 50%. Furthermore, by way of example, the nose portion may also be connected to the flange-like portion via the aforementioned lining.
In a second embodiment, the nose portion is removable in that this nose portion is designed as a separate material portion which is connected, for example, to the flange-shaped portion at least via the aforementioned covering.
In a third embodiment the nose portion is removable in that said nose portion is connected to the flange-shaped portion at least via a mechanically locking connection.
In a fourth embodiment the nose portion is removable in that this nose portion is connected to the flange-shaped portion at least via a breakable or cut-through adhesive connection.
In a fifth embodiment, the nose portion is removably designed by combining two or more of the above embodiments. According to a first practical example of the invention, the nose part is made in one piece in the same material with the flange-like part and is connected thereto over a part with a locally reduced wall thickness and the nose part is at the same time also additionally connected to the flange-like part via the aforementioned covering .
When the finishing profile is used as an expansion profile between two floor coverings, both nose sections are removed so that only the flange-shaped section and the fixing section are used.
When the finishing profile is used as a transition profile between two different floor coverings, one or both nose sections are removed, depending on the height differences between the two floor coverings. For example, if there is a height difference, one nose portion will be removed so that the finishing profile acquires an oblique orientation during placement.
BE2018 / 5457
When the finishing profile is divided at the location of the fixing part of the flange-shaped part, two end profiles can be formed. No nose portions are hereby removed.
According to the most preferred form in which the aforementioned flange-shaped part has a covering, it preferably extends over the transition to the at least one nose part. A space is preferably provided at the location of the transition between the flange-shaped part and the nose part.
The finishing profile preferably has at least two such nose portions, namely in each case adjoining one of the edges of the upper surface of the flange-shaped portion. In the case of multiple nose portions, the aforementioned coating preferably extends over each transition to each nose portion. Preferably, a space is provided at the location of each transition between the flange-shaped portion and the nose portion.
According to the most preferred form, said at least two nose profiles have a different geometry, for example in that their respective surfaces are differently inclined with respect to the vertical.
For example, when the most vertical nose profile is removed, the finishing profile with the more inclined nose profile is used as a transition profile so that a gradual change in height takes place. When the more inclined nose profile is removed, the finishing profile with the most vertical nose profile is used, for example, as an end profile, where a more abrupt height difference is obtained, which is ideal for use against, for example, an upright wall or skirting board.
A finishing set according to the present invention comprises, in addition to the aforementioned finishing profile, a holder which is intended to cooperate with the aforementioned fixing portion.
BE2018 / 5457
According to the invention, said holder comprises at least two upright mounting legs.
The holder is intended to position the finishing profile in a correct manner in that the fixing part with the fixing legs of the finishing profile and the upright fixing legs of the holder slide into each other when positioning the finishing profile and are thus anchored. Preferably because the holder has at least three or even four upright fixing legs in order to guarantee sufficient fixation of the finishing profile in the applications where finishing profile and holder are divided, for example the application as end profile.
The holder is a rail-shaped profile which furthermore has a horizontally extending part at least on one side of an extreme fixing leg which is intended for attaching the holder, for example by sliding it under the floor covering or by gluing, stapling or fixing it. to screw. In a preferred embodiment, the holder comprises two such horizontally extending portions, one on each side of the upright mounting legs, which allow the holder to be fixed on both sides, or if the holder is divided for certain applications, to use both halves.
According to a special embodiment, the aforementioned holder of a finishing set comprises at least one groove in its upper surface. Preferably, the at least one groove is made in the upper surface of the aforementioned horizontally extending portions of the container. In a holder intended for a finishing profile with a nose part, the groove is preferably positioned such that the groove can co-act with this nose part, or more specifically with the underside of the relevant nose part. To this end, the underside of the nose portion in question can for instance be provided with a protruding portion which can be introduced into the upper surface of the holder in the aforementioned groove. This groove can lead to a better fixing of the finishing profile. It is clear that the holder can be provided with two grooves, for example in the case of a holder for a finishing profile with two nose sections, namely one groove for cooperation with each of the two nose sections, more specifically
BE2018 / 5457 with the underside of each of the two nose sections. Preferably, in the cooperation between the groove and the relevant nose part, a stop surface is formed which can counteract a possible mutual rotation between the nose part and the flange-shaped part. This allows for a firmer, better positioning of the nose portion, and the finishing profile as a whole, and moreover prevents wear due to the thus obtained firmer positioning. Because the possibility of rotation is limited, it can be prevented that the nose part comes loose from the flange-shaped part, and / or that this nose part performs undesired movements during use.
According to yet another special embodiment, which can optionally be combined with the above, the holder is intended to cooperate with a finishing profile which has at least one nose part, wherein stop surfaces are formed between the holder and the relevant nose part that allow a possible mutual rotation between the nose part and counteracting the flange-shaped portion. It is clear that the possible mutual rotation that is counteracted can be rotation in only one sentence, for example with the user surfaces of the nose portion and the flange-shaped portion facing each other, or in both sentences. As mentioned above, such abutment surfaces can be formed in a groove of the holder, as referred to above. According to a variant or in combination therewith, one or more stop surfaces can also be formed on the lateral ends of the holder. Such stop surfaces, when cooperating with a protruding part on the underside of the relevant nose part, can counteract a rotation in which the user surfaces of the nose part and the flange-like part move away from each other.
Furthermore, the aforementioned holder is provided for being divided at the location of the at least two upright mounting legs. For this purpose, the holder has a portion with locally reduced wall thickness at the location of the upright mounting legs.
Said holder which forms part of the finishing set usually comprises a roughened surface or a surface with a specific relief on the underside, which allows to reduce the friction between holder and base so that the positioning of the holder is optimal.
BE2018 / 5457
It is noted that for separating the different portions of the flange-shaped portion, and the optional nose portions, from a finishing profile according to the first aspect of the invention, specific cutting tools can be developed.
Cutting tools for dividing multifunctional finishing profiles are known per se from US 8 109 059, wherein a cutting tool is described with exactly one knife with a fixed position relative to a handle, and wherein said cutting tool also has a hook for positioning the cutting tool and supervising the cutting. The cutting tool serves to cut one or both nose portions from the flange-shaped portion on the side. The general problem of a cutting tool of this type is that the positioning of the cutting tool on the finishing profile for a floor covering does not always take place accurately, as a result of which cutting may be inaccurate or may be incorrect.
BE 1 018 494 also describes a cutting tool for cutting a skirting board intended to be mounted vertically against the wall, wherein the cutting tool has a knife with a fixed position relative to a handle, and wherein said cutting tool also has a hook for positioning the cutting tool and supervising the cutting. The general problem of a cutting tool of this type is similar to the cutting tool of US 059.
WO 2006/074824 shows a cutting tool equipped with an eye as a handle or with a body. WO 2007/118999 and EP 1 841 573 both show a cutting tool with a body. The aforementioned cutting tool again comprises exactly one knife with a fixed position. This knife with fixed position serves to cut one or both nose portions on the side away from the flange-shaped portion. The body allows the cutting tool to be simply placed in the correct position on the finishing profile for a floor covering, and to perform the cutting movement accurately and smoothly because the body glides over the surface of the finishing profile.
The cutting tool described in WO 2006/074824, WO 2007/118999 and EP 1 841 573 allows little flexibility because the cutting tool is intended to work together with one particular type of finishing profile of which one or both nose sections can be cut off with
BE2018 / 5457 the same knife. Moreover, there is a risk that the wrong nose portion will be cut off. In other words, such cutting tools are not user-friendly.
In view of an alternative cutting tool that could be used, for example, with the finishing profiles of the first aspect of the invention, according to an independent second aspect, the invention relates to a cutting tool for cutting a finishing profile for a floor covering, said cutting tool comprising a body and comprises at least one knife, characterized in that the position of the aforementioned knife is adjustable.
In the context of the invention, by adjustable, it is generally meant that the position of the knife is selected as a function of the finishing profile to be cut for a floor covering.
In the context of the invention with a fixed position it is generally meant that the angle about which the knife is inclined cannot be changed before, during or after the use of the cutting tool together with a finishing profile for a floor covering.
Because at least one knife is adjustable, the use of the knife can be adjusted according to the user's choice and / or as a function of the finishing profile to be cut and its application (expansion profile, transition profile or end profile).
It is clear that in the context of the invention according to its second aspect the cutting tool comprises at least two knives. The position of one or more knives can be adjusted here. This is selected in function of the finishing profile to be cut for a floor covering. This means that all blades can be adjustable, but that one or more blades can also have a fixed position. Preferably, said at least two blades comprise at least one blade with a fixed position.
The aforementioned adjustable knife is adjustable between a rest position and at least one active position. The displacement is herein characterized in that this displacement of the knife from the rest position to an active position comprises a displacement over a distance of
BE2018 / 5457
0.5 mm to 20 mm and at an inclination angle of 0 ° to 90 ° with respect to the vertical perpendicular to the surface of the cutting tool.
The surface of the cutting tool is defined as the guiding surface of the cutting tool, in particular the guiding surface of the body of the cutting tool. This is the surface at the bottom of the cutting tool.
Preferably, the aforementioned adjustable knife is mounted on a resilient portion of the cutting tool, preferably of the body.
In a first embodiment, in the context of the invention, a resilient part is understood to mean a part such as, for example, a resilient lip, a push button, a slidable hatch, a button or a lever, a rotary knob, a push-and-turn knob, a pinch-turn knob, etc. . The resilient portion may be in one of the side surfaces or in the upper surface of the cutting tool body.
In general, within the scope of the invention, with a side surface of the body of the cutting tool is meant a surface that is visible and has a vertical orientation. There are at least three side surfaces on the body of the cutting tool.
In the context of the invention, the upper surface of the body of the cutting tool is generally understood to mean the surface which is perpendicular to said side surfaces. The transition from the side surfaces to the top surface can be a right angle or a rounded corner. A rounded corner makes the cutting tool easier to use because there are no sharp edges that could possibly cause irritation to the hands, such as blisters or scrapes, when used.
When the cutting tool has more than one adjustable knife, each adjustable knife preferably sits on a separate resilient portion. However, it is possible that several adjustable blades are placed on one resilient section.
BE2018 / 5457
When the cutting tool has more than one adjustable knife with each adjustable knife on a separate resilient portion, it may be that the at least two resilient portions are on the same surface, e.g. the upper surface. It may also be that all the resilient portions are in a separate surface, e.g. one resilient portion in a side surface and one resilient portion in the upper surface.
When a plurality of resilient sections are placed in the upper surface, they can be parallel but also perpendicular to each other or any angle between them. When the at least two resilient portions are parallel and are in the upper surface, they allow for cutting the flange-like portion located on either side of an attachment portion on the underside so that it becomes longer or shorter, depending on the application of the finishing profile.
The use of a push-and-turn knob and a pinch-and-turn knob makes it more difficult to make the variable-position knife available so that a certain amount of safety is built in and it is more difficult for children who get hold of the cutting tool to be hurt by such buttons are difficult to use.
The resilient portion may optionally be anchored to the cutting tool body prior to a first use by means of a connector. If the resilient portion is anchored, this connecting piece will be broken when the resilient portion is moved from the rest position to an active position for the first time.
In a second embodiment, the resilient part is moved from the rest position to an active position in the context of the invention by, for example, a push movement, a push-and-click movement, a sliding movement, a turning movement, a push-and-turn movement, a pinch-and-turn movement, etc.
In the context of the invention, a pushing movement is generally understood to mean a movement in which the active position achieved is not temporarily fixed. As a result, when using the cutting tool, the resilient part must remain depressed. It
BE2018 / 5457 resilient nature of the resilient portion allows the knife to be returned to the rest position by releasing the resilient portion in order to reverse the pushing movement.
In the context of the invention, a push-and-click movement is generally understood to mean a movement in which the active position achieved is temporarily or permanently fixed. As a result, the resilient part must not be depressed when the cutting tool is used. When the active position is temporarily fixed, the resilient nature of the resilient part allows the knife to be returned to the rest position by pressing the resilient part and then releasing it so that a reverse push-and-click movement takes place. With permanent locking of the achieved active position, the push-and-click movement is not reversible, and the knife is permanently locked in the aforementioned active position once the resilient portion has been moved from the rest position to an active position.
With a sliding movement, rotational movement, push-and-turn movement and pinch-and-turn movement, the selected active position may or may not be fixed temporarily or permanently. If it is not fixed temporarily or permanently, it is sufficient to release the resilient part after use. If the active position is temporarily fixed, after use the resilient part is brought back to the rest position by releasing the resilient part. If the fixed position is permanently fixed, the achieved active position is permanently fixed in the aforementioned active position once the resilient part has been moved from the rest position to an active position.
The body of the cutting tool is essentially made of synthetic material. More specifically, this means that the body of the cutting tool is essentially composed of polymer. The polymer can be a monopolymer or a copolymer. Examples of polymers are: polypropylene, polyethylene such as HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate, polyamide, polyurethane, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene, polycarbonate, aramid, etc.
The body of the cutting tool can also be composed of different materials, such as (co) polymer, wood, composite, metal, carbon fibers, aramid, etc.
BE2018 / 5457 substantially reinforced polymers, the reinforcement being realized by, for example, glass fibers and / or flax.
Some examples of compositions where the following list is not restrictive:
- The resilient portion is a first polymer and the rest of the body is a second polymer
- The resilient portion is a first polymer and the rest of the body is a composite such as a glass fiber reinforced polymer
- The resilient part is in metal and the rest of the body in a polymer
The body of the cutting tool is further characterized in that the body comprises at least one recess for a finger and / or finger tip. A recess for a finger and / or finger tip allows the cutting tool to be easily and correctly grasped so that the cutting movement can be carried out easily and accurately. In addition, a recess for a finger and / or finger tip allows the fingers not to rub over the cut edges or to come into contact with the blades, so that user-friendliness and safety are guaranteed. A recess is located in the vertical sides of the cutting tool body or in the upper surface of the cutting tool body.
Furthermore, the body of the cutting tool can be characterized in that it comprises at least one opening in the upper surface, the above-mentioned opening allowing to control the position of the aforementioned fixed-position knife. This allows before a cutting movement is performed and it is easy to check whether the cutting tool is correctly positioned and the correct nose portion or nose portions will be cut. This again contributes to user convenience and a reduction in the risk of incorrect cutting.
The opening is made sufficiently small so that fingers and finger tips cannot get through and contact with the knife is avoided.
In its third aspect, the invention relates to a finishing set for a floor covering, with a cutting tool according to the second aspect of the invention, characterized in that it
BE2018 / 5457 finishing set further comprises a finishing profile for a floor covering and a holder for a finishing profile for a floor covering according to the first aspect of the invention. The cutting tool of the finishing set can be used in an application of your choice for the finishing profile: expansion profile, transition profile or end profile.
The underside of the cutting tool forms a guiding surface that can interact with the aforementioned finishing profile such that the cutting tool is properly presented on the aforementioned finishing profile. In this way it is avoided that a wrong cut is made, which would lead to material loss and additional costs.
The adjustable knife of the cutting tool is adjustable between, on the one hand, a rest position in which, when cooperating with the aforementioned finishing profile, the adjustable knife is not in contact with the aforementioned finishing profile, and, on the other hand, an active position in which, when cooperating with the aforementioned finishing profile , the adjustable knife is in contact with the aforementioned finishing profile. This means that when the knife is in the rest position, no cutting movement takes place when the cutting tool is used, and that when the knife is in an active position, a cutting movement takes place when the cutting tool is used.
With the insight to better demonstrate the features of the invention, a few preferred embodiments are described below as an example without any limiting character, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

The reference numbers used in the figures are partially defined in the claims.
Figure 1 shows a finishing profile for a floor covering, wherein this profile 1 comprises a flange-shaped part 2 which extends on either side of a fixing part 3 located on the underside. The flange-shaped part 2 is preferably formed in one piece from plastic and is provided for being divided at the location of the fixing part 3. For this purpose the flange-shaped part 2 has a part 4 with locally reduced wall thickness at the location of the fixing part 3. Furthermore, the flange-shaped part 2 has a covering 5 and comprises at least two fixing legs 6. The flange-shaped part 2 is intended to be divided between these two fixing legs 6.
The finishing profile 1 further comprises a nose part 7, wherein this nose part 7 has a surface 9 connecting to the upper surface 8 of the flange-shaped part 2 and extending transversely to the above-mentioned upper surface 8. The finishing profile 1 is characterized in that the nose portion 7 is of removable design. Figure 1 shows a removable nose portion 7 which is designed in one piece with the flange-shaped portion 2 and is connected thereto over a portion with a locally reduced wall thickness. In addition, the nose portion 7 is connected via the covering 5 to the flange-shaped portion 2. The covering 5 extends over the transition (10) to the nose portion 7, so that a space 11 is provided at the location of the transition 10 between the flange-shaped portion 2 and the nose portion 7.
BE2018 / 5457
Figures 2a, 2b and 2c show the possibilities of use of a finishing set 12 which, in addition to a variant embodiment of finishing profile 1 of Fig. 1, also comprises a holder 15 which is intended to cooperate with the fixing part 3 of the finishing profile 1. To this end, the holder 15 comprises at least two upright mounting legs 13. When the finishing set 12 is used, the finishing profile 1 and the holder 15 are pushed into each other via the fixing legs 6 of the finishing profile 1 and these 13 of the holder 15.
Figure 2a shows the use of the finishing set as a transition profile between two floor coverings 14, 14 'with a different height, for example a laminate floor 14 and a carpet 14'. To this end, the nose portion 7 'ensures a sudden vertical transition in height from floor covering 14 to floor covering 14'.
Figure 2b shows the use of the finishing set 12 as an end profile against a wall 16. For this purpose, the finishing profile 2 is divided at the level 4 with locally reduced wall thickness, so that a shortened form of the finishing profile 2 is obtained with one fixing leg 6. The holder 15 is also divided, and is slid underneath the floor covering 14 on one side to position the holder 15 correctly.
Figure 2c shows the use of the finishing set 12 as an expansion profile between two floor coverings 14 and 14 ”of similar height. For this purpose, the finishing profile 1 and the holder 15 are not cut at the level of the section 4, but only the nose sections 7 are removed. The flange-shaped part 2 here comprises two fixing legs 6 and the holder 15 comprises 3 fixing legs 13.
Figures 3a to 3c show practical embodiments of Figures 2a to 2c, Figure 3a showing the use of the finishing set as a transition profile between two floor coverings of different heights 14, 14 ', Figure 3b its use as an end profile against a wall 16 and Figure 3c use it as an expansion profile between two floor coverings of similar height 14, 14 ".

Figure 6 shows a finishing set according to the invention which comprises a finishing profile 1 according to Figure 5 and a holder 15. The holder 15 comprises two grooves 16 in its upper surface which allow the nose portions 7, 7 'of the finishing profile 1 to be fixed. These grooves 16 lead to a better attachment of the finishing profile 1 and reduced wear because mutual rotation between the nose portions 7, 7 'and the flange-like portion 2 is counteracted and the nose portions 7, 7' therefore cannot come loose from the flange-shaped portion 2. The groove holder 15 also comprises a portion 17 with reduced wall thickness that allows the holder to be easily divided between two fixing legs 13. The finishing profile 1 also comprises a portion 4 with reduced wall thickness.
Figure 7 shows a cutting tool 18 for cutting a finishing profile for a floor covering. The cutting tool 18 comprises a body 19 with an upper surface 20, four side surfaces 21 and a guiding surface 26. The guiding surface cooperates with the finishing profile so that the cutting tool is correctly placed on the finishing profile. The cutting tool 18 comprises in its upper surface 20 a resilient portion 22

The cutting tool 18 further comprises an indication 24 in the form of an arrow which indicates the direction of movement of the cutting tool.
Figure 8 is a cross-sectional view of a variant on the cutting tool of Figure 7 according to the indicated cutting line VIII. The cutting tool 18 has two knives, the knife with a fixed position of which is not visible in the section. The adjustable blade 28 is mounted on a resilient portion 22 of the cutting tool 18, preferably from the body 19 via a fixation portion 29 by means of fixations 30, the fixation portion 29 being attached to the resilient portion 22. The cutting tool also includes a recess 27 for a finger and / or finger tip, and a plurality of reinforcement ribs 31. The knife 28 is adjustable between a rest position and at least one active position.
Figure 9 shows the plan view of the cutting tool 18 of Figure 8. The adjustable knife is fixed at the bottom to the resilient portion 22 which is located in the upper surface 20 of the body 19. In the upper surface 20 there is also one opening 32 which allows to check the position of the knife with fixed position 33. The cutting tool has three recesses 27 for a finger and / or finger tip, and in addition to two elevations 25 and an arrow 24 indicating the cutting direction, it also comprises an inscription 34. This inscription can be a warning or information about how the cutting tool 18 should be used. turn into.
Figure 10 shows the bottom view of the cutting tool 18 of Figure 8. The adjustable knife 28 is attached to the resilient part 22 from below via a fixation part 29 and two fixations 30. The fixed position knife 33 is also connected to the body 19 of the cutting tool 18 via a fixation section 29 'and two fixations 30'.
Figure 11 shows a finishing set 35 for a floor covering with a cutting tool 18 according to figures 8 to 10 and a finishing profile 1. The holder is not shown here. The cutting tool has one adjustable blade 28 which is attached to the underside of the resilient portion 22 via a fixation portion 29 and two fixations 30. Figure 11 shows the adjustable blade in
BE2018 / 5457 an active position, wherein the knife 28 is in the portion 4 with locally reduced wall thickness. The fixed position knife 32 is fixed to the body 19 via fixation section 29 'and two fixations 30', and is in the space 11 of the finishing profile. When the cutting tool as shown in Figure 11 is used, the knife with fixed position 32 will cut off the nose portion 7 'from the flange-shaped portion 2, and the adjustable knife 28 will cut the flange-shaped portion 2 in half.
The present invention is by no means limited to the exemplary embodiments and shown in the figures, but such finishing sets can be realized according to different variants without departing from the scope of the invention, as defined in the appended claims.
