Self-closing timed tap.
The present invention relates to a timed self-closing valve including means for adjusting the timing thereof. the timed self-closing taps, whose opening is actuated by a control button such as a push-button, generally have a predetermined time-delay depending on the application (urinal, shower, washbasin, etc.).
To better meet specific requirements, there are valves that include a system to adjust the time delay. These systems are generally of complex construction or difficult access for the installer.
Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a timed self-closing tap having means for adjusting the timing thereof which not only makes it possible to obtain a good accuracy of the flow duration, but also an easy access to set the timer by the installer or manager.
This purpose, as well as others which will appear later, is achieved by a timed self-closing valve of the type comprising a valve body or body in which is disposed a mechanism comprising a head body screwed into the upper part of the body and covered by a control button, a skirt forming a delay chamber being disposed between the head body and the inner bottom of the valve, the inner bottom of this skirt having a central orifice whose upper face is the main seat of the valve which receives a valve carried by a sliding piston, which sliding piston has at its periphery a first lip seal whose outer lip is in contact with the inner wall of the skirt forming a timing chamber, a spring being disposed between the head body and the face piston, which valve is characterized, according to the present invention, by the fact that the mechanism comprises a a hollow rod which passes right through the piston and goes down into a lip seal located inside the piston, the middle part of the hollow rod comprising a groove receiving an O-ring which serves as a valve and comes into contact with an auxiliary seat formed inside the head body, at least one radial orifice being formed in the hollow rod above the auxiliary valve, and the hollow rod has a thread located under the auxiliary valve, which thread receives a movable nut whose grooved periphery cooperates with splines formed in an inner skirt of the head body, means for raising or lowering the nut along the hollow rod being provided.
Preferably, the means for raising or lowering the nut along the hollow rod comprise, on the one hand, a hole in the control knob, and, on the other hand, any tool that can rotate the rod digs through this hole, so that by raising or lowering the nut along the hollow rod, the stroke of the piston is more or less limited.
Advantageously, this valve comprises a radial screw inserted in the control button to lock the latter on the hollow rod, a notch being formed inside the control button and cooperating with a notch formed in the upper part of the head body to prevent rotation of the control knob and the hollow stem.
In known manner, a spring is disposed between the control knob and the head body to ensure the return of the hollow rod when the user releases its support on the control button, which ensures the closure of the auxiliary valve on his seat.
The following description, which is not limiting in nature, must be read in conjunction with the attached single figure which is a longitudinal sectional view of a self-closing automatic shut-off valve comprising, according to the present invention, a means for regulating it. the delay.
According to the present invention, a tem-porised self-closing tap having means for adjusting the timing thereof is of the type comprising a body 2, or tap body, in which a mechanism 1 is inserted.
This mechanism 1 comprises, on the one hand, a head body 3 which is screwed into the upper part of the body 2 and is covered, in known manner, by a control button 17, and, on the other hand, a skirt 4 , forming a delay chamber 19, which is disposed between the head body 3 and the inner bottom 5 of the valve. This skirt 4 has an inner bottom 6 provided with a central orifice whose upper face constitutes the main seat 7 of the valve which receives a valve 8 carried by a sliding piston 9.
The sliding piston 9 comprises, at its periphery, a first lip seal 10 whose outer lip is in contact with the inner wall of the skirt 4 thereby forming the delay chamber 19.
A spring 11 is disposed, in known manner, between the head body 3 and the upper face of the piston 9.
According to the present invention, a hollow rod 12 passes right through the piston 9 and goes down into a lip seal 13 located inside the piston 9. The median portion of the hollow rod 12 comprises a groove receiving a O-ring 14 which serves as an auxiliary valve and comes into contact with an auxiliary seat 15 formed inside the head body 3. At least one radial orifice 16 is formed in the hollow rod 12 above the auxiliary valve 14.
In addition, the hollow rod 12 has a thread 22 located under the auxiliary valve 14, which thread 22 receives a movable nut 23 whose grooved periphery cooperates with grooves 24 formed in an inner skirt 25 of the head body 3.
A radial screw 26, inserted in the control knob 17, blocks the latter on the hollow rod 12. A notch 27, formed inside the control knob 17 and cooperating with a notch 28 formed in the upper part of the head body 3, prevents the rotation of the control knob 17 and the hollow rod 12. In this way, the setting of the timer remains preserved.
Thus, when pressure is exerted on the control knob 17 placed at the upper part of the hollow rod 12, the auxiliary valve 14 comes off the seat 15: the water contained in the delay chamber 19, above of the piston 9, can then drain freely to the downstream outlet 20 of the valve through the radial orifice 16 and the inner channel 21 of the hollow rod 12. The water pressure of the upstream network which enters through one or more radial orifices 18 formed in the bottom of the skirt 4, forming a delay chamber, causes the rise of the piston 9 in the chamber 19, thus releasing the passage of water through the main seat 7.
By introducing a tool to the upper part of the hollow rod 12 by a hole in the control knob 17, it is easy to raise or lower the nut 23 on the hollow rod 12 which has the effect of limiting more or minus the stroke of the piston 9 and thus adjust the delay.
In known manner, a spring 29 is disposed between the control knob 17 and the head body 3 to ensure the return of the hollow rod 12 when the user releases the support on the control button 17, which allows closing the auxiliary valve 14 on its seat 15.

1. - timed self-closing valve of the type comprising a body (2), or valve body, in which is inserted a mechanism (1) which comprises a head body (3) screwed into the upper part of said body (2) , a skirt (4) forming a delay chamber being disposed between said head body (3) and the inner bottom (5) of said valve, the inner bottom (6) of said skirt (4) having an orifice whose upper face is the main seat (7) of said valve which receives a valve (8) carried by a sliding piston (9), which sliding piston comprises at its periphery a lip seal (10) whose outer lip is in contact with the inner wall of said skirt (4) forming a delay chamber (19), a spring (11) being disposed between said head body (3) and the upper face of said piston (9), characterized in that it comprises a hollow rod ( 12) passing right through said piston (9) and descending into s a lip seal (13) located inside said piston (9), the middle part of said hollow stem (12) having an O-ring groove (14), which serves as an auxiliary valve, and comes into contact with an auxiliary seat (15) formed inside said head body (3), at least one radial orifice (16) being formed in said hollow stem (12) above said auxiliary valve (14), and that said hollow rod (12) has a thread (22) located under said auxiliary valve (14), which thread (22) receives a movable nut (23) whose grooved periphery cooperates with grooves (24) formed in an inner skirt (25). ) of said head body (3).
