LOOKING AT THE FRAME WITH IMPROVED FRAME AND BUFFER
The present invention relates to a manhole or other similar road equipment.
Such a look includes a frame embedded in the pavement provided with a circular central opening and an internal peripheral rib of seat, a circular-shaped buffer for closing the central opening of the frame and provided with an elastic support annular bearing against the rib bed when the buffer is in the closed position of the central opening of the frame. According to an alternative embodiment, the elastic support is fixed on the frame and not the buffer.
This kind of look is intended to be installed around an upper opening of a chimney access in the ground.
During an intervention in the underground volume under the chimney, it is necessary to remove the buffer from the frame to release the central opening of this frame by arranging the buffer on the floor near the frame.
Once the intervention is complete, the buffer must be put back in place in the frame to close the central opening of the latter. Generally, this implementation is effected by exerting on the buffer a thrust force sliding it on the ground until it enters the central opening of the frame.
However, when the buffer engages by its own weight in the central opening of the frame, the annular elastic support violently bears against the frame of the frame rib, which may deteriorate. This problem also arises when the elastic support is secured to the frame and which can be struck violently by the buffer when closing the frame.
The present invention aims to overcome the disadvantage of manholes above known.
For this purpose, according to the invention, the manhole comprises a frame embedded in the roadway and provided with a circular central opening and an internal peripheral rib of seat, a circular-shaped buffer for closing the door. central opening of the frame and an annular resilient support secured to the pad or frame and which is supported on the frame of the rib or on an annular face of the pad when the pad is in the closed position of the opening central frame, is characterized in that the frame also comprises at least two housings formed radially in the inner edge partially defining the central opening of the frame and the buffer also comprises at least two radially outer pins adapted to bear on the internal border of the frame when the pad is placed on the frame coaxially with the central opening of the frame so that the annular elastic support of the pad or the frame is above the rib of the frame without contacting it or below the annular face of the buffer without contacting it and to engage respectively in the housing of the inner edge by rotation of the buffer relative to the frame to close the central opening of the frame by the pad, and in that the pad is provided with a skirt under the pad and engageable through the central opening of the frame defined by the rib bed when the buffer is in the closed position of the central opening of the frame and which makes it possible to position the buffer coaxially at the central opening of the frame by sliding the skirt on the roadway and, where appropriate, on a part of the frame when the buffer is moved to the frame.
Preferably, the two housings of the inner border of the frame and the two lugs of the buffer are diametrically opposed.
Advantageously, the annular elastic support is fixed in an internal circular groove of the pad located above the skirt thereof, or in a circular groove formed in the frame of the frame rib.
Advantageously, the annular elastic support has in cross section an inverted T-shape whose transverse branch abuts on the seat rib of the frame or under the seat face of the buffer in the closed position of the buffer.
Advantageously, each lug of the buffer is in the form of a substantially rectangular lug and each housing of the inner border of the frame is in the form of substantially rectangular substantially conjugate window.
Advantageously, the buffer comprises a central orifice allowing the passage of a maneuvering tool, such as a grapple clamp, for rotating the buffer from its position at which the lugs are resting on the internal border of the frame at its closing position of the central opening of the frame to which the lugs are engaged in their respective housing of the inner edge.
Alternatively, the frame comprises a number of housings greater than the number of pins of the buffer.
The invention will be better understood, and other objects, characteristics, details and advantages thereof will appear more clearly in the explanatory description which will follow with reference to the accompanying drawings given solely by way of example illustrating an embodiment. of the invention and in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a manhole according to the invention, the buffer initially completely clear of the frame is being put back in place in this frame; FIG. 2 is a perspective view similar to that of FIG. 1 and showing the buffer placed on the frame according to the invention; FIG. 3 is a perspective view similar to that of FIG. 2 and showing the rotation of the pad relative to the frame towards the complete closing direction of the opening of the frame; - Figure 4 is an enlarged sectional view along the line IV-IV of Figure 3; FIG. 5 is a perspective view similar to that of FIG. 3 and showing the pad at a position before complete closure of the opening of the frame; - Figure 6 is a perspective view similar to that of Figure 5 and showing the buffer at its full shutter position of the opening of the frame; - Figure 7 is an enlarged sectional view along the line VII-VII of Figure 6; and Figure 8 is an enlarged sectional view similar to that of Figure 7 and showing an alternative embodiment.
With reference to FIGS. 1 to 7, reference numeral 1 generally designates a manhole which comprises a frame 2 embedded in the roadway 3 partially represented and provided with a circular central opening 4, and a removable buffer 5 of circular shape for closing the circular opening 4 of the frame 2.
The frame and the pad 5 are preferably made of cast iron.
The frame 2 comprises a rib or peripheral radially inner flange of seat 6 on which abuts the buffer 5 at its closed position of the opening 4 of the frame 2.
The pad 5 is provided with an annular resilient support 7 of flexible material, preferably an elastomer material, adapted to bear on the internal rib 6 of the frame 2 in the closed position of the pad 5 in the frame 2. The support Annular resilient 7 may have a double function of sealing between the frame 2 and the buffer 5 and noise reduction between the frame 2 and the buffer 5 at each passage of a vehicle on the manhole 1.
Preferably, the annular elastic support 7 has in cross section an inverted T shape, the rod 8 of which is fixed, for example by gluing, in an internal circular groove 9 emerging from a lower face of the buffer 5 and whose transverse branch or bearing 10 comes to rest on the seat rib 6 of the frame 1 in the closed position of the buffer 5 on the frame 2.
According to an alternative embodiment shown in FIG. 8, the elastic support 7 has its rod 8 fixed, for example by gluing, in a circular groove 9 formed in the base rib 6 of the frame 2 and its bearing surface 10 bearing against a annular flat seating face 50 of the buffer 5 when the latter is in the closed position of the buffer 5.
The pad 5 is provided with a central oblong through hole 5a allowing the passage of the end of a maneuvering tool, not shown, such as a grapple clamp or a lead bar, to move the buffer 5 its closing position of the opening 4 of the frame 2 to its position of opening of the opening 4 of this frame or vice versa.
The pad 5 is also provided with a cylindrical skirt 11 protruding under the pad 5 and engaging through the central opening 4 of the frame 2 delimited by the seat rib 6 when the pad 5 is in the closed position of the central opening 4 of the frame 2.
The circular groove 9 accommodating the annular elastic support 7 of the buffer 5 is situated above the skirt 11 of this buffer and is delimited by an outer peripheral wall 5b of the buffer 5.
The frame 2 comprises above the seat rib 6 an inner peripheral edge 12 defining with the seating rib 6 a rabbet delimiting the upper part of the central opening 4 and in which is inscribed in thickness the buffer 5 at its closed position of the opening 4 of the frame 2, so that the upper face of the buffer 5 is substantially flush with the upper face of the frame 2 itself substantially flush with the roadway 3.
According to the invention, the pad 5 comprises two radially outer pins 13 and preferably diametrically opposed. Preferably, each radial lug 13 protrudes from the outer circular peripheral edge of the wall 5a of the buffer 5 substantially in the same plane as that containing the upper face of this buffer. However, the lugs 13 may be arranged projecting at a level below the plane containing the upper face of the buffer 5. In addition, each lug 13 may be in the form of a rectangular flat lug. Finally, the diametral length between the two free ends of the two lugs 13 is greater than the internal diameter of the inner edge 12 of the frame 2.
The frame 2 comprises two housings 14 formed radially in the inner rim 12 and preferably diametrically opposite. Each housing 14 is in the form of a substantially rectangular window and, preferably, of form conjugated to that of each lug 13 of the buffer 5. The bottom of each housing 14 is located at a higher level relative to the rib of sitting 6.
Figures 6 and 7 show the buffer 5 at its closed position of the opening 4 of the frame 2 and to which the two lugs 13 are respectively engaged in the two housing 14 so that the buffer 5 is inscribed in the rabbet of the frame 2 having its upper planar surface substantially flush with the upper planar face of the frame 2 and that the annular elastic support 7 is supported by its bearing surface 10 on the seat rib 6 of the frame 2. In addition, each lug 13 n it is not supported at the bottom of its corresponding housing 14 and the buffer 5 causes by its weight a compression of the bearing surface 10 of the annular elastic support 7 resting on the seat rib 6 over its entire periphery.
The engagement configuration of the lugs 13 in their respective housings 14 as shown in FIG. 8 is the same as that of FIG. 7, with the only difference that the elastic support 7 is integral with the frame 2. As for FIGS. 7, the buffer 5, in its closed position, rests uniformly on the bearing surface 10 of the elastic support 7 located between the annular surface 50 of the buffer 5 and the lateral edges of the base rib 6 delimiting the circular groove 9 of the frame 2. During an intervention in the manhole 1, the withdrawal of the buffer 5 of the frame 2 to completely clear the opening 4 is performed using the operating tool with one end is introduced in an orifice 5a of the buffer 5 so as to arrange the buffer 5 on the road 3 near the opening 4 of the frame 2.
To reposition the buffer 5 in the opening 4 of the frame 2 once the operation is completed, the buffer 5 is slid towards the frame 2 by contact of the skirt 11 on the floor 3 with the help of the maneuvering tool introduced in the orifice 5a of this buffer as shown in Figure 1. During this sliding, the annular elastic support 7 does not contact at all the roadway 3 and is therefore preserved.
Continuing the sliding of the buffer 5 towards the frame 2, the buffer 5 engages in the opening 4 by its skirt coaxially passing through the circular opening of the seat rib 6 defining the opening 4 and the two lugs 13 come on the inner edge 12 of the frame 2 as shown in Figure 2 which shows in connection with Figures 3 and 4 that the annular elastic support 7 of the buffer 5 is located above the rib of the seat 6 of the frame 2 without contact her. Thus, when the pad 5 is partially introduced into the rabbet of the frame 2, the annular elastic support 7 does not come into sharp contact with the seat rib 6 unlike the previously known manholes, thus effectively protecting the annular elastic support 7 without risk of deterioration thereof. Similarly, for the other variant embodiment where the elastic support 7 is integral with the frame 2, this support is located under the annular face 50 of the buffer 5 without contacting it when the two lugs 13 rest on the border 12 of the frame 2, providing effective protection of this elastic support.
Then, the operator, using the maneuvering tool introduced into an orifice 5a of the buffer 5, causes a rotation of this buffer relative to the frame 2 in the direction indicated by the arrows F in FIGS. 2 and 3 until to bring the two lugs 13 of the buffer 5 respectively above the two housings 14 of the frame 2 as shown in Figure 5. It should be noted that the operator can operate the buffer 5 in the opposite direction to the arrows F according to the relative position pins 13 and housing 14 to bring the lugs 13 above the housing 14.
Then the operator releases by gravity the buffer 5 whose two lugs 13 engage respectively in the two housings 14 of the frame 2 until the annular elastic support 7 comes to bear by its bearing surface 10 on the rib 6 of the frame 2 as shown in Figures 6 and 7, or until the bearing surface 10 of the elastic support 7 bears against the annular seating face 50 of the pad 5 as shown in Figure 8, the operator disengaging the 5a tool after the descent of the pins 13 in their housing 14.
Thus, during rotation of the buffer 5 relative to the frame 2 from its position shown in FIG. 2 to its final engagement position in the frame 2 shown in FIG. 6, the lugs 13 slide on the peripheral edge 12 of the frame 2 without the annular elastic support 7 is in contact with the seat rib 6 of the frame 2 or without the annular seating face 50 of the pad 5 is in contact with the elastic support 7 when the latter is secured to the seat rib 6 , and during the release by gravity of the buffer 5 in the position shown in Figure 5, the drop height of the buffer is sufficiently small so that the bearing 10 of the annular elastic support 7 does not undergo significant crushing may deteriorate.
According to an alternative embodiment not shown, the buffer 5 could comprise three pins 13, or more, regularly spaced from each other around the buffer 5 and can engage respectively in three housings 14 or more of the frame 2 also regularly spaced others.
According to yet another embodiment not shown, the number of housing 14 may be greater than the number of lugs 13. For example, the frame 2 may comprise four housing 14 two diametrically opposite two while the buffer 5 may comprise only two lugs diametrically opposite.
The view of the above described floor of the invention is of a design to facilitate the closure of the opening 4 of the frame 2 by the buffer 5 and reposition the buffer 5 in its final position of closing this opening without risk of damage to the annular elastic support 7.
