MULTIFUNCTION FINISHING ASSEMBLY FOR FLOOR COATING, COMPRISING A MODULAR PROFILE OF AT LEAST TWO PIECES AND A FILM APPLIED TO BOTH PIECES
Technical area
The present invention relates to a finishing assembly, for floor covering, having a modular finishing profile covered by a decorative film, and configurable so that it can be used in at least two different finishing functions.
Prior art
In the context of the installation of floating or glued floorings of wood or similar for the dressing of the floors of the habitat, it is necessary to use finishing profiles. Therefore, these operations require the use of different types of wood or similar finish profiles covered with a decorative film to achieve finishes, either between floating floor or glue flooring, or the edges of floor coverings floating or gluing.
It has been proposed so far, finishing sets that are modular and multifunction. For example, in the international patent application WO 2006/074824, there are proposed multifunction finishing sets for floor covering, comprising different modules which are covered by a decorative film, and which are separable, after cutting the decorative film, such so that the finishing assembly is configurable to be used in different finishing functions, and in particular a junction function between two floor coverings, or a stop function or a catch-up function between a floor covering and the floor or other floor covering of different thickness.
More particularly, in an alternative embodiment described in particular in international patent application WO 2006/074824 (FIG. 44), the finishing assembly comprises a unique and modular finishing profile, which comprises two separation grooves, and which is separable. in three separate modules.
A first drawback of this variant with a unique modular finishing profile lies in the fact that in order to make the separation grooves of the module, the manufacturer faces two contradictory use constraints. The separation groove must allow a sufficient mechanical weakening of the profile, to facilitate the separation of the profile in separate modules during its implementation (1st constraint). Conversely, the mechanical rigidity of the two modules separated by a groove must be sufficient so that there is not a collapse of one module relative to the other when the profile is used in a finishing function where the two modules are not separated (for example stop function or level catch function between a floor covering and the floor or another flooring of different thickness). In a disadvantageous way, the manufacturer is obliged to make a compromise between these two constraints, at the risk, for example, of making a groove, which makes it possible to obtain sufficient mechanical rigidity, but which is not sufficiently deep and makes it difficult for operation of separation of the modules, either on the contrary to achieve a too deep groove, which facilitates the operation of separation of the modules, but at the expense of mechanical strength.
A second disadvantage is related to difficulty of industrial realization of the separation grooves of the profile which are narrow and deep.
In order to overcome the aforementioned first drawback, it has been proposed in International Patent Application WO2007 / 116144 to produce a modular finishing profile with added reinforcing shims inserted provisionally into the grooves for separating the profile. This solution, however, does not solve the difficulty of achieving the narrow and deep separation grooves of the profile.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The main object of the invention is to propose a new multifunction finishing assembly, which comprises a modular finishing profile, which can be configured in at least two functions of different finishes and which overcomes the aforementioned drawbacks.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The invention thus relates to a finishing assembly with at least two different use functions, said assembly comprising a modular profile which comprises at least two distinct linear parts, namely a first lower part on which is a second upper part is fixed, the lower part having at least one thin, breakable longitudinal zone underlying the upper part. Said assembly further comprises a film which is applied and fixed on the two lower and upper parts so as to mask at least one longitudinal transition zone between the two lower and upper parts. Said finishing assembly may be configured in at least two different use functions, at least one of the two use functions being obtained by cutting the film along said transition zone covered by the film, and separating the lower part of the profile in at least two parts by breaking the lower part along the thin longitudinal breakable zone, one of the two parts of the lower part being removed, and the other part remaining fixed to the upper part.
The finishing assembly of the invention is aesthetic, and easily configurable in one or other of the use functions, while being very mechanically strong and easy to manufacture industrially.
More particularly, but optionally according to the invention, the finishing assembly has the following additional and optional technical features, taken separately or in combination: the upper part is glued to the lower part in a longitudinal fastening zone, preferably central, of limited width (I) not covering the entire width of the two parts; the lower part comprises a first module definitively fixed to the upper part, and at least one second lateral module, which is connected on the one hand to the first module only by a longitudinal separable zone of small thickness, and which is connected to on the other hand at the top by the film; the lower part comprises a third lateral module, the first module being positioned between the second and third lateral modules, and the third module being connected on the one hand to the first module only by a longitudinal separable zone of small thickness, and being connected to on the other hand to the upper room by the film; the lateral modules may have different or identical geometries; the first module substantially forms a T with the upper piece; the thickness of the lower piece may be substantially greater than the thickness of the upper piece, or be substantially equal to or less than the thickness of the upper piece; The finishing assembly comprises, at the level of the longitudinal transition zone between the two parts, a longitudinal space which extends over the entire length of the two parts, and which allows the insertion of a cutting blade under the film ; said longitudinal space is more particularly achieved by means of a longitudinal recess in the upper face of the lower part and / or by means of a longitudinal recess in the lower face of the upper part; the finishing assembly is configurable to perform a first function of junction between two floor coverings; the finishing assembly is configurable to perform a stop function between a floor covering and the floor or another floor covering of different thickness; - The finishing assembly is configurable to perform a catch level retrofit function between a floor covering and the floor or other flooring of different thickness.
Another object of the invention is a method of transforming a finishing assembly referred to above in order to configure it in a use function. For this purpose, the film is cut along a transition zone covered by the film, and the lower part is broken along a thin, breakable longitudinal zone so as to separate the lower part of the profile in at least two parts, one of the two parts of the lower part being removed, and the other part remaining fixed to the upper part.
The invention also relates to one of the abovementioned finishing assembly for performing a junction function between two floor coverings (RS1, RS2) or a stop function or a level catching function between a floor covering and soil or other flooring of different thickness.

detailed description
There is shown in FIG. 5 a first example of a finishing assembly for flooring, which is configurable in three different finishing functions. This finishing assembly comprises a modular finishing profile 1 consisting of two separate linear parts 10 and 11, and covered with a decorative film 12.
Each linear piece 10 or 11 of the modular profile 1 extends in the longitudinal direction X, and may be for example a machined piece of wood or the like, or an extruded part made of plastic, in particular PVC or the like, or metal, in particular aluminum or the like. In the accompanying figures only a short length of these parts is shown, it being specified that these parts 10 and 11 extend in practice over greater length L than that shown.
Referring to Figure 1, the linear part 10, which is intended to form the upper part of the profile 1, is a thin plate (e), having an upper longitudinal face 10a and a lower longitudinal face 10b. In the particular embodiment of Figure 1, the lower longitudinal face 10b has a central longitudinal groove 10c, allowing the interlocking of the upper part 10 on the lower part 11 of the profile 1.
Referring to Figure 1, the lower part 11 of the modular profile 1 is made from a linear part P more massive, thick (E) significantly larger than the thickness (e). This piece P has an upper longitudinal face 11a, which in the particular example illustrated has a longitudinal central portion 11e, forming a protruding recess of limited width (I), less than the width of the piece 11.
This piece P also has a lower face 11b, which is connected on either side to the upper face 11a by two longitudinal side faces 11c, 11d. The longitudinal side face 11c connects the two upper faces 11a and lower 11b forming a gentle slope of angle (A) less than 90. The longitudinal side face 11c connects the two upper faces 11a and 11b lower being substantially oriented perpendicular to both faces 11a and 11b.
To produce the finishing assembly of FIG. 5, from the linear parts 10 and P of FIG. 1, only the male part 11e projecting from the part P and / or the groove of FIG. assembly 10c of the part 10, then we assemble and fix the piece 10 on the piece P by fitting the central portion 11e of the piece P in the assembly groove 10c of the part 10. On both sides of the groove assembly 10c / male part 11e, the lower faceelOb of the part 10 is substantially in plane support on the upper face of the piece P. In addition, the faces of the two parts 10 and P in contact with one of the other on either side of the groove assembly 10c / male part 11e have not been glued, they are not fixed to each other; the attachment of the parts 10 and P is effective only at the parts 10c and 11e nested.
With reference to FIG. 2, once the two pieces 10 and P
assembled, the finishing assembly comprises on both sides two longitudinal transition zones referenced ZT, which extend over any length of the parts 10 and P. One of the longitudinal transition zones ZT is located between one longitudinal edges of the piece 10 and the longitudinal side face 11c of the piece P; the other longitudinal transition zone ZT is located opposite to the other longitudinal edge of the piece 10 and the longitudinal lateral face 11d of the piece P.
Next, the decorative film 12 (FIG. 3) is applied to the assembled parts 10 and P so as to cover and mask the two longitudinal transition zones ZT. This film 12 is fixed to the upper face 10a of the piece 10 and to the two longitudinal longitudinal faces 11c and 11d of the piece 11, by any known means, and in particular by gluing and / or heat-sealing, so as to obtain the whole of Figure 4. The decorative film 12 is a decorative coating for example paper, melamine or wood veneer. This decorative film 12 may be of monolayer or multilayer type. The decorative film 12 serves as a decorative element to the finishing profile 1, so that the finishing profile is for example matching the decorations of the flooring. It makes the overall finish more attractive and more robust, thanks to its function of overlapping longitudinal transition zones .ZT.
To obtain the finishing assembly of FIG. 5, from the assembly of FIG. 4, two deep grooves R are produced by machining in the lower face 11 of the part P, which extend sufficiently deep in the thickness of the piece P so as to realize in the room P to the right of each groove R (Figures 5 and 6) a breakable zone 11 i thin (e1). These grooves R divide the piece P, which is intended to form the lower portion 11 of the modular profile 1, into three modules 11f, 11g, 11h: a first central module 11f forming a foot, and two side modules 11g, 11h of either side of the central foot 11f, each lateral module 11g, 11g being connected to the central foot 11f only by a breakable zone 11 i of very small thickness (e1).
Preferably, with reference in particular to FIG. 1, the piece P comprises, in its upper face 10a, at each longitudinal transition zone ZT, a longitudinal cut 11j having substantially an L-shaped profile. This cut-out 11j makes it possible to arrange under the film 12 a longitudinal space 2 (Figure 5) of sufficient size to allow and facilitate the insertion of the blade 30 of a cutting tool 3.
In this variant the longitudinal space 2, for the insertion of the cutting blade 30 under the film 12, is achieved by means of a cutout 11j forming a longitudinal recess L in the upper face 11a of the lower part 11; in another variant the longitudinal space 2 can be achieved by means of a longitudinal recess 11 j in the lower face 10c of the upper part 10. In another variant the longitudinal space 2 can be achieved by means of a first longitudinal recess in the upper face 11a of the lower part 11 and a second longitudinal recess made in the lower face 10c of the upper part 10 and positioned vis-a-vis the first recess.
In another variant of manufacture of the finishing assembly, the final part 11 with its grooves R could be completely manufactured before its assembly with the other part 10. The grooves R are not necessary made by machining, but could be formed during the extrusion of the piece 11 when the piece 11 is an extruded profile.
Referring to Figure 5, the three-use finishing assembly is shown fully assembled and ready for use.
To configure this finishing assembly of FIG. 5 in a first use function shown in FIG. 8, the cutting blade 30 of the tool 3 is introduced under the film 12 at one of the longitudinal transition zones. ZT, by penetrating it by one of the ends of the corresponding longitudinal space 2 (FIG. 6). Then linearly moves the blade 30 in the longitudinal direction X, so as to cut cleanly the film 12 over the entire length of the finishing assembly. During cutting, the blade 30 is advantageously guided by the cuts 11j of the lower part 11, along the longitudinal space 2. After cutting the film 12 (FIG. 7), the lateral module 11g of the lower part 11 is more connected to the upper part 10 by the film 12, and is connected to the central foot 11f only by the breakable zone 11 i thin (e1).
Then the lateral module 11g is separated from the remainder of the finishing assembly by pivoting it (arrow F-FIG. 7), if necessary several times, relative to the central foot 11f so as to break the breakable zone 11 i connecting it at the central foot 11f. This gives a finishing assembly configured in a first use function shown in FIG. 8.
In this configuration of FIG. 8, the finishing assembly comprises the central foot 11f definitively fixed, and in particular glued, to the upper part 10, and the lateral module 11h which is connected to the central foot 11f only by a breakable zone 11 i of small thickness, and which is connected to the upper part 10 only by the film 12 masking the transition ZT between the side module 11 h and the upper part 10. In this configuration of use, the other side module 11g is supplement removed and is not used.
Referring to Figure 9, the finishing assembly of Figure 8 is used as to perform a stop function between a floor covering RS, such as for example a floor, tile or carpet and the floor (or another floor covering of smaller thickness). In this example of implementation, the finishing assembly is fixed to the ground by means of a fixing rail 4, which is fixed by any means on the ground, and in which is engaged the central foot 14W-
FIG. 10 shows the finishing assembly configured in a second use function. In this configuration of Figure 10, the finishing assembly comprises the central foot 11f permanently fixed, and in particular glued, to the upper part 10, and the lateral module 11g which is connected to the central foot 11f only by a breakable zone 11 i of thin, and which is connected to the upper portion 10 only by the film 12 masking the transition between the side module 11g and the upper part 10. In this configuration of use, the other side module 11 h is complement removed and is not used. This configuration is obtained by removing the lateral module 11 h in the same manner as for removing the lateral module 11g when obtaining the configuration of FIG. 8.
Referring to Figure 11, the finishing assembly of Figure 10 is used to perform a level catch function, with a smooth transition, between a floor covering RS, such as for example a floor, a tile or a carpet, and the floor (or other flooring of smaller thickness).
FIG. 12 shows the finishing assembly configured in a third use function. In this configuration of Figure 12, the finishing assembly comprises the central foot 11f permanently fixed, and in particular glued, to the upper part 10; said upper piece 10 is coated with the film 12, and substantially forms a T with the central foot 11f. In this configuration, the two side modules 11g and 11h have been removed, and are not used.
Referring to Figure 13, the finishing assembly of Figure 12 is used to perform a joining function between two floor coverings RS1 and RS2 having substantially the same thickness.
FIG. 14 shows another variant embodiment of a finishing assembly with three use functions, which differs from the assembly of FIG. 5 solely by the structure of the interlocking means 10d and 11k of FIG. the upper part 10 and the lower part 11. More particularly, the upper part 10 has on the underside a V-shaped male interlocking element 10d which cooperates with a complementary V-shaped groove 11k formed in the upper face. of the lower part 11. The gluing of the two pieces 10 and 11 is carried out in the groove V and / or on the two upper faces 111 of the part 11 on either side of the groove 1k.
FIG. 15 shows another variant embodiment of a finishing assembly, which is configurable only in two use functions: a first function of use (comparable to that of FIGS. 10 and 11) is that illustrated in Figure 15; a second function of use (comparable to that of Figures 12 and 13) is obtained by removing the single side module 11g.
FIG. 16 shows another variant embodiment of a finishing assembly that can advantageously be used with very thin floor coverings, such as very thin carpets or thin floor coverings such as coatings. PVC flooring type plastics.
In this variant, the lower part 11 has a small thickness (E '), which is substantially equal to the thickness (e) of the upper part 10, or where appropriate which may be less than the thickness (e) of the upper part 10. The two side modules 11g on either side of the central foot 11f also have the same geometry.
FIGS. 17 and 18 respectively show two different uses of this finishing assembly. In Fig. 17 only one of the side modules 11g has been removed, and the finishing assembly is used to provide a smooth transition between a thin RS floor covering and the floor. In the variant of Figure 18, the two side modules 11g have been removed, and the finishing assembly is used to provide a junction between two thin floor coverings RS1 and RS2 having substantially the same thickness.
