DEVICE FOR CONNECTING ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION DEVICES
The invention relates to a device for connecting electrical installation devices comprising a base, which base has connections for wires.
Electrical installation devices of the type mentioned in the preamble are known per se in the form of sockets and switches. The installation devices of the type in question are used as recessed wall sockets, respectively. recessed wall switches and are connected to the power grid of the respective building via the pipes laid out of sight. The pipes consist of two conductive conductors, as well as an earth wire.
There are often so-called drywall walls in buildings. These have hollow spaces in which live cables are laid. This method of guiding power lines through buildings is particularly frequently used with large objects, for example with hospitals, office buildings or the like. The advantage of this method of installing live conducting cables is that it is also possible to post-fit a switch or socket at predetermined locations, without having to lay a live cable to this location in advance. In special cases, the cables in the empty tube are fitted with plugs, with which a connection to the. sockets and switches is possible in a simple manner. A hole is easily drilled in the wall for the connection to the cables. The cable then only has to be pulled out through the bore out of the cavity and connected to the respective socket or switch, in order to enable a power supply.
With the type of connection described above, the problem often arises that the cable laid in the hollow space with its plugs. cannot be connected to the socket, resp. the switch. On the one hand, the cause of this may be that the cable with the plugs is exactly at the location of the hole drilled in the wall, so that for connecting the cables to the socket or socket. the switch is provided with a cable that is not long enough to pull it far enough out through the hole and ensure the connection; on the other hand, the cause may be that the installation position of the connections for the cables to the socket or the switch is unfavorably aligned with respect to the position of the cables.
The invention seeks to achieve a result here. The invention has for its object to provide a device for the connection of electrical installation devices, wherein the connection to cables laid in hollow spaces is possible in a simple manner. This object is achieved according to the invention in that a coupling module is provided on the base which has connections for the wires.
The invention provides a device for connecting electrical installation devices, which provides a connection in a simple manner to cables already laid in walls. This is guaranteed by the coupling module, which is mounted on the base. A predetermined positioning is provided by the mounting on the base, which in its alignment is oriented to the position of the cables in the wall. A reliable connection between the base and the coupling module is provided by the connections for the wires arranged on the module.
In a further development of the invention, the coupling module is movably attached to the base by means of the wires. This method of attachment has the advantage that the position of the module can be changed by bending the wires relative to the base. This makes an optimum adaptation to the respective installation situation possible.
In another further development of the invention, the coupling module has plug sockets. By using plug sockets, the connection of the module to plugs fitted to the cables is possible, whereby the connection to the cables laid in the walls is extra simplified.
The coupling module is advantageously surrounded by a cap. The use of a hood offers the possibility of covering the module as well as the base at least regionally in order to protect it against environmental influences. At the same time, fixing of the coupling module after screwing on the cap is possible, so that an unintended change of the position of the coupling module on the base is effectively prevented.
In an embodiment of the invention, the cap is screwed together with the base. This method of attachment is simple and at the same time reliable and guarantees subsequent dismantling.
Other further developments and embodiments of the invention. are described in the other subclaims. An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing and is described in detail below. In the drawing: Fig. 1 shows the exploded view of a socket with coupling module and cap; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a socket with a coupling module; Fig. 3 shows the perspective view of the socket shown in Fig. 2 rotated through 90 °; Fig. 4 shows the perspective view of a socket with a screw-on cap; Fig. 5 shows the perspective view of the socket shown in Fig. 4 rotated through 90 °; Fig. 6 shows the view of a socket during the installation process; Fig. 7 shows the cross-section along the line A-A in Fig. 6; Fig. 8 shows the view of the socket shown in Fig. 6 in a mounting position; Fig. 9 shows the cross section along the line B-B in Fig. 8; Fig. 10 shows the perspective view of a multiple socket with coupling module and plug; Fig. 11 is the perspective view of the multiple socket shown in Fig. 10 in a mounting position.
The device chosen as an exemplary embodiment for connecting electrical installation devices is explained on the basis of a socket. The socket comprises a socket socket base 1, on which a support plate 2 is arranged. On the side remote from the supporting plate 2, a coupling module 3 is arranged on the socket base 1. In addition, a cap 4 is provided, which engages the coupling module 3 when mounted.
The socket socket base 1 is manufactured in the known manner from plastic. It has a base 11 which has two contact springs on its side facing the supporting plate 2 for inserting the pins of plugs. In the mounted state, the contact springs are connected to the conductive conductors of the power line. In the exemplary embodiment, the conductors with terminals 12 are held on the socket. As a variant of the exemplary embodiment, a screw connection can also be used instead of the clamps. In addition, ground brackets 13 are provided on the base 11, which in the exemplary embodiment are screwed together with the base 11. On the side remote from the supporting plate 2, thread holes 14 are provided in the base 11 which are coaxially aligned with the bushes 15. In addition, the socket socket base 1 has connections 16 for wires 5.
The support plate 2 is made of metal. This is connected via bridges 21 to the socket base 1. The plate 2 has an opening 22 in the middle thereof, which serves for the passage of a plug. The plate 2 itself is provided on its edge with slot holes 23 for mounting at the respective place of use, as well as bores 24 for attaching a frame or the like.
The coupling module 3 is made of plastic. In the exemplary embodiment, it has three plug sockets 31 on one side thereof. Plug sockets 31 are substantially cylindrical and in the middle thereof have pins of metal aligned coaxially with the hollow cylinders. On the side remote from the sockets 31, the coupling module 3 has connections 32 for the wires 5.
The connections 32 may be screw connections or clamp connections, such as are known per se from the connection technology of wires to sockets. The connections 32 on the coupling module 3 are similar to the connections 16 on the socket base 1. The wires 5 form the connection of the coupling module 3 with the socket-base 1. As a result of the flexibility of the wires 5, the coupling module 3 is movably attached to the socket-base 1.
The cap 4 is also made of plastic. In the bottom view, this has a substantially quadrilateral design which makes it possible to grip the coupling module 3 in the mounted state. On the side thereof remote from the socket socket base 1, the cap 4 is provided with a passage 41 through which the plug sockets 31 partially run. On both sides adjacent the passage opening 41, the cap 4 is provided on both sides with attachments 42 which, in the mounted state, are supported on the socket base 1. The attachments 42 are provided with bores 43 which, when mounted, are aligned with the threaded holes 14 in the socket-base 1. For fixing the cap 4 on the socket-base 1, screws 44 are provided, which can be screwed through the bores 43 into the threaded holes 14. On the side remote from the passage opening 41, an apron 45 is formed on the cap 4, which apron covers the wires 5 when mounted.
As shown in Figs. 10 and 11, the device according to the invention can also be applied to multiple installation equipment. Figures 10 and 11 show the application to a triple socket. When using multiple installation devices, it is remarkable that only one coupling module 3 is required for connection to a plug 9 in order to enable the simple connection according to the invention.
In the manufacture of the socket with the device according to the invention, the socket socket 1 and the support plate 2 are first of all connected to each other in the known manner. Subsequently, the coupling module 3, to which the wires 5 have already been attached, is led to the socket base 1 and the wires 5 are attached thereto. In this position, the coupling module 3 is already movably attached to the socket 1. The mounting of the socket according to the invention can already take place in this assembly. To complete the socket according to the invention, the cap 4 is mounted thereafter, this cap being placed in a simple manner on the coupling module 3, so that the plug sockets 31 emerge regionally through the opening 41. In the end position thereof, the attachments 42 support in the area of the threaded holes 14, resp. bushes 15 against the socket base 1. Because the bores 43 of the cap 4 are aligned with the threaded holes 14 of the socket base 1, the screws 44 can be inserted through the bores 43 and screwed into the threaded holes 14. The socket according to the invention is thus completed.
When mounting the electrical installation devices using the device according to the invention, a hole 6 is drilled in the known way in the respective wall 7 at a location in the vicinity of which there is a cable 8. After drilling the hole 6, the cable 8 located in the wall 7 is pulled out. A plug 9 'located at the end of the cable 8 is then inserted into the plug socket 31 of the coupling module 3, as is shown in Fig. 7. This is due to the positioning of the coupling module 3 at an angle with respect to the longitudinal center line of the installation device possible in a simple manner. After connecting the coupling module 3 to the plug 9 of the cable 8, the electrical installation device, in the exemplary embodiment the socket, following the arrow shown in Figure 7, is inserted into the hole 6 in the wall 7 until the in Figure 8 and 9 the installation position shown is reached. Figure 9 shows that, as a result of the angled position of the coupling module 3, it has been achieved that the cable 8 with the plug 9 is guided in an optimum manner to the socket, so that both the assembly and the perfect mounting are effected as a result after assembly is guaranteed. Because, during the mounting after drilling the hole in the wall, it is only necessary for the connection to insert the plug 9 into the coupling module 3, this work can also be carried out by persons who are not trained as electricians. For example, the installation can be done by the caretaker. As a result, the costs of retrofitting electrical installation devices are considerably reduced.
