Be honored
The invention relates to a hollow body open on one side with a lid in which a candle is arranged, in particular a weatherproof grave light.
Grave lights usually consist of a cup (can be made of different materials) which is filled with burning mass (usually mineral or organic waxes) and has a wick attached to the center. A cover (often made of metal or plastic) is usually placed on top as weather protection and for visual reasons. Grave lights are usually burned outdoors and are fully exposed to the weather.
According to the prior art, lids for hollow bodies which are open at one side are known, in which a candle is arranged, the lid being a hollow body which is open at the bottom and which can be plugged or screwed onto the hollow body which is open at the top, the jacket of the lid in attached state protrudes above the jacket of the hollow body open at the top, wherein the jacket of the lid is provided with openings. The openings are designed as vertically running openings, which are formed by openings in the jacket of the cover, for example by punching out circular surfaces. However, precipitation can easily penetrate through such openings, which is then to be drained off between the cover and the hollow body which is open on one side. So that penetrating precipitation does not get into the interior of the hollow body that is open on one side, it is known to design the hollow body with an upper edge area offset inwards and upwards relative to the openings, so that water that penetrates from the side hits this edge area and not into the interior of the hollow body.
EP 2955436 A1 shows a grave light cup which is designed as a hollow body which is open on one side and has an upper end region which tapers upwards, so that through the
2/25

Lid penetrating water between the lid and the tapered end is drained.
If the edge of the hollow body, which is open on one side, is sufficiently high, the candlelight is well protected against extinction due to gusts of wind and precipitation. However, it has been shown that the oxygen supply to the flame is restricted by the upwardly tapering upper end region of the hollow body, which is open on one side, so that the flame extinguishes prematurely due to a lack of oxygen. The lack of oxygen supply can also lead to incomplete combustion, which leads to increased CO emissions and soot formation.
The object of the invention is to provide an improved hollow body which is open on one side and is weatherproof and has good burning properties.
To solve the problem, it is proposed to provide a hollow body which is open on one side and which has a rainproof upper edge region by fitting a cover, with openings which are present in its lateral surface below the lower edge of the cover, with drip edges being present for these openings and wherein the drip edge lies further outside than the opening area of the respective opening, so that precipitation dripping from the drip edge does not pass through the opening.
This ensures that fresh air can flow in through the openings in the jacket and supplies the flame with oxygen. The combustion gases escape mainly through the openings in the lid. An advantage of the present invention is that this chimney effect is achieved with simple means and that the openings of the hollow body are protected against the ingress of liquid through the drip edges.

This can be implemented by one of the measures selected from the group comprising: making the openings such that the opening area of each of these openings extends from the associated drip edge toward the interior of the hollow body which is open at the top; horizontally running opening areas of the openings; vertically running opening surfaces of the openings, which are offset relative to the drip edge towards the inside of the hollow body open on one side.
One of the first two measures is preferably implemented.
The inclined or particularly advantageous horizontal opening surface advantageously means that precipitation falling on the side is difficult to penetrate and gusts of wind are directed away from the flame, this effect increasing with increasing angle of the opening surface to the vertical.
In the variant with vertically running opening surfaces of the openings, the offset arrangement ensures that water dripping from the drip edge is perpendicular to the outside
past the opening falls. Against laterally incident precipitation or wind provides this variant but less Protection . In particular becomes on to above open hollow body with removable cover and with an im hollow body disposed
Combustion mass proposed with a wick, the lid being able to be plugged or screwed onto the hollow body, the jacket of the lid projecting above the jacket of the hollow body which is open at the top, the jacket of the lid being provided with openings and the lid being at the top is closed, the upper edge of the upwardly open hollow body being higher than the lower edge of the lid and the upwardly open hollow body having a plurality of openings in its lateral surface, the openings being spaced downward from the lower edge of the cover and the upward open

Hollow body has at least one drip edge, the opening area of each of these openings, as seen from the associated drip edge, extending inclined or horizontally towards the interior of the hollow body which is open at the top.
The hollow body which is open at the top is preferably made of plastic, the plastic preferably being transparent or translucent.
A cover which is suitable for the hollow body has lateral surface openings, these can have an opening surface which can be produced by simple means. The lid can be made of plastic or metal.

Punching preferred
The drip edge preferably extends over the entire circumference of the hollow body which is open at the top, this being formed in that the lateral surface of the hollow body which is open at the top is inclined downwards and inwards below the drip edge or tapers horizontally, the openings in the thereby frustoconical or annular shell surface. As a result, the upward hollow body can be manufactured as a rotary body with a uniform profile and can be subsequently penetrated with the openings.
open the scope
A plurality of openings with separate drip edges can preferably be present, these separate drip edges being formed in that the outer surface of the hollow body which is open at the top has an indentation below the separate drip edges, which is a limited peripheral section of the outer surface which is offset inwards and the openings being in the indentations.
A plurality of openings with separate drip edges can preferably be present, these separate drip edges being formed in that the outer surface of the hollow body which is open at the top has noses distributed over its circumference,

Η 2334 which protrude from the lateral surface and the openings are located inside or below the lugs.
The openings preferably have indentations, which are each formed by the edge of the opening surface of the respective opening being turned inwards. As a result, the opening area is advantageously displaced inward away from the casing of the spar body.
Likewise, the openings can have protuberances, each of which is formed by the edge of the opening surface of the respective opening being turned outwards. The flipped edge offers weather protection and can serve as a drip edge.
The outer edge of the respective opening, as seen from the center of the hollow body, can preferably form a drip edge. This can be the case in particular in the case of horizontal and inclined openings, since water which drips from the outer edge of the opening does not reach the inner edge or through the opening.
The opening surfaces of the openings preferably extend from the associated drip edge, inclined toward the interior of the hollow body which is open at the top.
The opening surfaces of the opening are particularly preferably oriented horizontally.
Preferably, an imaginary line from the drip edge to the bottom edge of the opening with an imaginary vertical line running through the drip edge encloses an angle of at least 30 °, particularly preferably of at least 45 °, in particular at least 60 °.
The opening areas of the openings can preferably be offset from the associated drip edge towards the interior of the hollow body which is open at the top, as a result of which the said angle can result or can be increased.

Η 2334
When the opening area is aligned horizontally, the imaginary line from the drip edge to the innermost edge of the opening forms an angle of at least 90 ° with an imaginary vertical line running through the drip edge.
The lid with the lower lid edge preferably rests on a support ring of the hollow body which is open at the top, with a plug-on area of the hollow body adjoining this at the top, against which the lid lies with its inner lateral surface and the upper edge of the hollow body which is open at the top opposite the slip-on area is offset inwards and upwards. It is advantageously achieved that a gap results between the inner lateral surface and the upper edge of the hollow body which is open at the top, in which precipitation can collect. The openings of the cover are preferably above the push-on area and the lower edge of at least one of the openings of the cover is lower than the upper edge of the hollow body which is open at the top. It is advantageously achieved in this way that liquid collecting in said gap can flow off via at least one opening of the lid. The upper edge of the upwardly open hollow body is particularly preferably above the lower edge of the openings of the cover, the upwardly open hollow body extending at least over a quarter of the height of the openings. It is advantageously achieved that wind impinging on the side is directed away from the flame.
Preferably, an imaginary line from the upper edge of the respective opening of the lid to the upper edge of the upwardly open hollow body with an imaginary vertical line running through the upper edge of the opening of the lid encloses an angle of at least 30 °, particularly preferably of at least 45 °, in particular at least 60 °.
Some preferred design variants of the hollow body according to the invention which is open at the top are illustrated with the aid of drawings:

1 shows a particularly preferred embodiment variant of the subject invention, consisting of a hollow body 1 open at the top and a lid 2. The lid 2 serves to close the hollow body 1 open at the top. The cover 2 is designed as a hollow body which is open on one side and has a lateral surface 3 which is penetrated by openings 4. The lateral surface 3 is delimited at the top by a closed cover roof 5. The lower edge of the outer surface 3 forms the lower cover edge 6, which is preferably widened, for example, as shown, by rolling the outer surface 3 outwards to form an annular bead.
The hollow body 1, which is open at the top, has a support ring 7 which faces the cover 2 as an annular surface, so that the cover 2 with the lower cover edge 6 can be placed on the support ring 7. Starting from the support ring 7, a plug-on area 8 of the hollow body 1 adjoins at the top, which is present in accordance with the cross-sectional shape of the cover 2, but to a smaller extent, so that the cover 2 is held with its inner lateral surface on the plug-on area 8 and preferably due to friction against unintentional Taking off is secured.
The upper edge region of the hollow body 1 adjoins the push-on area 8, the upper edge 9 of the hollow body 1, which surrounds the upper opening of the hollow body 1 which is open towards the top, being offset upwards and inwards relative to the push-on area 8. As shown, this is preferably done in that the cross section or the radius of the open hollow body 1 tapers from the plug-on area 8 along a continuously increasing curve to the upper edge 9. For example, the curve can be an arc or a straight line.

Below the support ring 7 is the support area 10 of the hollow body 1, which has a larger cross section or diameter than the support ring 7 to form the support ring 7.
In a less preferred embodiment variant, the support ring 7 and the support area 10 could be omitted if the cover 2 is screwed on, or the cover 2

Has protrusions,
As an improvement according to the invention, the hollow body 1 has openings 11 which are spaced downwards from the edge of the cover 6. The openings 11 are thus in the lateral surface of the hollow body 1 which is open at the top. The hollow body 1 has at least one drip edge 12, the openings 11 being aligned such that water dripping from the drip edge 12 cannot penetrate into the hollow body 1 through them.
In the example of FIG. 1, the drip edge 12 is formed in that the support area 10 tapers abruptly, so that an annular area is formed which is oriented downward. The openings 11 are present in this annular region. For example, these can be formed by punching out or drilling the material of the hollow body 1. The openings 11 have a horizontal opening area, the interior of the hollow body 1 being above the opening area. Thus, the opening 11 into the interior of the side-incident wind can become even horizontally incident

advantageously directed upwards and thus away from the flame.
The openings 11 can extend from the outside inwards over the entire dimension of the annular region, so that the outer edge of the respective opening 11 coincides with the drip edge 12. At least two are distributed around the circumference
10/25
Page 9
Η 2334 preferably at least four openings 11 separated from one another.
The hollow body 1 is filled with a flammable potting compound, usually wax, or can be filled with one, a wick running approximately perpendicularly centrally in the potting compound. The filling is preferably carried out up to a height below the openings 11, so that the openings 11 already have their effect when the wick is ignited for the first time and liquid wax cannot escape through the openings 11.
As can be seen in FIG. 1, the upper edge 9 of the hollow body 1 preferably projects beyond the lower edge of the openings 4 of the cover 2 when it is placed on the support ring 7. The water penetrating through the, for example circular, openings 4 collects between the inner circumferential surface of the cover 2 and the tapering region of the hollow body 1 above the plug-on area 8, depending on the amount of precipitation and how close the cover 2 is to the plug-on area 8 , the penetrating precipitate can flow through the openings 4 again before it spills over the upper edge 9.
As shown, the hollow body 1 and the cover 2 are preferably designed as a rotating body or cylindrical.
As is illustrated in the case of the opening 4 of the cover 2 shown in the center, the upper edge 9 extends almost up to half the height of the opening 4. For illustration purposes, the center line (dashed) and the two quarter lines (dotted) of the opening 4 are shown.
FIG. 2 shows a second embodiment variant, in which, in addition to the first embodiment variant, the plug-on area 8 has holding projections 13, which are preferably formed by limited shapes of the jacket of the hollow body 1. These can serve as spacers or can be pushed back by elastic deformation when the cover 2 is put on. In the detailed sectional view (right) of the

Page 10
Η 2334
Fig. 2 shows the profile of the upper region of the rotating body of the hollow body 1. The horizontally extending opening 11 can be seen in the annular area below the support area 10. As shown, it can be advantageous if the support area 10 widens in the direction of the drip edge 12, since the area of the ring-shaped area can thus become larger, or the drip edge 12 can be at a greater distance from the area of the lateral surface of the hollow body 1 that adjoins it.
3 shows a third embodiment variant, in which the openings 11 are present in lugs 14. The lugs 14 are local formations of the outer surface of the hollow body 1, which are present below the lid edge 6 or the contact surface 7. The plurality of lugs 14 are preferably arranged at a height and regularly distributed around the circumference of the hollow body 1.
Each lug 14 is preferably formed by a flat piece which, viewed from the top downward, runs away from the hollow body 1. As shown, each surface piece is preferably closed laterally with respect to the hollow body 1 by side flanks.
There is an opening 11 in each nose 14, preferably with a horizontally extending opening area. As shown, the opening surface can be formed by the lower edges of the surface piece and its side flanks and the upper edge of the region of the hollow body 1 adjoining it.
The lugs 14 can also be formed by cutting the jacket horizontally and bulging outwards above the cut.
The upper edge region of the hollow body 1 is designed somewhat differently in FIG. 3. Starting from the plug-on area 8, the diameter of the hollow body 1 tapers suddenly, then continuously along a circular path, with an area with a constant area again tapering at this area
12/25
Page 11
Η 2334
Connects to the diameter and then again connects a region that tapers in a substantially abrupt manner, a bent edge of this region finally forming the upper edge 9. In total, the upper edge 9 is again inside and above the push-on area 8, so that the function of a drainage channel between the cover 2 and the upper edge 9, already known from EP 2955436 A1, is provided.
4 shows a fourth embodiment variant in which the openings 11 are present in indentations 15. Each indentation 15 is formed by an inwardly molded section of the lateral surface, the opening 11 preferably being in the upper surface of the indentation 15, which is particularly preferably horizontal.
The indentations 15 can advantageously be formed in that the jacket is cut horizontally and dented below the cut, which results in an approximately horizontal opening area. The indentations 15 can be arranged on any section of the hollow body 1 below the lid edge 6, for example also on the support area 10 or immediately below. The gradually tapering area below the support area 10 could be dispensed with.
FIG. 4 shows the angle α, which is enclosed between an imaginary line from the drip edge 12 to the innermost edge of the opening 11 and an imaginary vertical line running through the drip edge 12. The angle α is 90 ° for the first four versions.
5 shows a fifth embodiment variant, in which the openings 11 are present in a section of the lateral surface of the hollow body 1 which is inclined downwards and inwards. This area can advantageously adjoin the support area 10 at the bottom. Depending on the angle of this area, the drip edge 12 can be present at its upper end, or can be formed by the upper edge or the upper edge of the openings 11.
13/25
page 12
Η 2334
As shown, the openings 11 can have indentations 16, which are formed in that material of the hollow body 1 is pressed inwards, or that the edge region of the openings 11 is indented inwards. If necessary, this could also take place in the opposite direction, so that the openings 11 have protuberances that face outwards.
In the case of the openings 11 which are inclined downwards, the indentations 16 advantageously achieve that the angle α between the drip edge 12 and the inner, lower edge of the opening area, which is then formed by the indentation 16, is increased.
Of course, the openings 11 of FIG. 5 could also be provided without indentations 16 in the oblique area of the jacket.
6 shows a sixth embodiment variant in which the opening surfaces of the openings 11 run vertically. In order to provide protection against rain falling obliquely, a drip edge 12 is provided which projects beyond the openings 11 in the direction toward the outside. The angle α between the vertical and the imaginary line between the drip edge 12 and the lower edge of the opening 11 is again shown. A disadvantage compared to the other design variants is that in this variant the flame is not well protected against wind from the side.
6 also illustrates the angle β which lies between an imaginary line from the upper edge of the respective opening 4 of the cover 2 to the upper edge 9 of the hollow body 1 which is open at the top and an imaginary line through the upper edge of the opening 4 of the cover 2 vertical line is included. α and β are preferably at least 30 °, particularly preferably at least 45 °, very particularly preferably at least 60 °, regardless of the embodiment variant.
14/25
Page 13
Η 2334
FIG. 7 shows a seventh embodiment variant in which tabs 17 are provided in addition to the sixth embodiment variant and connect the drip edge 12 to the lower edge of the openings 11. This improves protection against wind from the side. Air can penetrate through the slots, which are present on both sides of the tabs 17.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment variants described, in particular the features described for the individual embodiment variants can be combined.
As exemplified in FIGS. 8 and 9, the openings 4 of the cover 2 can be designed according to the openings 11 of the hollow body 1 which is open at the top, so that the cover 2 also has a plurality of openings 4 in its lateral surface 3, the openings 4 being spaced apart upwards to the lower lid edge 6 and wherein the lid 2 has at least one drip edge 18, the opening surfaces of the openings 4 each lying further inward with respect to the drip edge 18 associated with them with respect to the center of the lid 2. This is preferably achieved in that the opening surfaces of the openings 4 have an orientation selected from the group: as seen from the associated drip edge 18, inclined towards the inside of the cover 2; running horizontally; running vertically and offset with respect to the drip edge 18 in the direction of the center of the cover 2.
In FIG. 8, the cover 2 has indentations, on the upper area of which there is an opening area of the openings 4 which extends inclined from the associated drip edge 18 toward the interior of the cover 2. Since the openings 4 are now themselves protected against the ingress of precipitation, it is possible to dispense with the upper edge 9 of the hollow body 1 being offset upwards relative to the plug-on area 8. However, the upper edge 9 of the hollow body 1 is advantageous in relation to the push-on area 8 in the direction of the
15/25
Page 14
Η 2334
Center of the hollow body 1 open at the top, in order to improve the chimney effect by tapering the cross section of the hollow body 1 in the area between the openings 4 and the openings 11. The openings 11 of the hollow body 1 are designed according to the variant described for FIG. 7, but can also be designed according to one of the other variants one to seven, or according to the features defined in the claims.
In FIG. 9, the cover 2 has indentations, at the upper area of which there is an opening area of the openings 4 that runs horizontally from the associated drip edge 18 toward the interior of the cover 2. The openings 4 of the cover 2 are thus designed according to the openings 11 of the hollow body 1 of FIG. 4, but can also be designed according to the openings 11 of one of the other variants one to seven, or have the features described for these. The upper edge 9 of the hollow body 1 is offset inwards and upwards relative to the push-on area 8. Hollow body 1 and cover 2 of FIG. 9 have only horizontally running opening areas of the openings 11, 4. The openings 11 of the hollow body 1 are designed according to the variant described for FIG. 1, but can also be designed with the features of other variants described here.
