Use of a fastening element for fastening a fastening bracket of a hardware component to a row of holes in a frame (rack).
In information and network technology, a large number of hardware components and computers are installed within a rack. In data center operation, but also in event, laboratory and control technology, the term rack stands for a rack for electrical devices with a standardized width of e.g. 19 inch, for which the individual devices (so-called hardware components) that can be mounted in the rack have a corresponding one
Front panel width of e.g. have exactly 48.26 cm (19). The hardware components are fastened with four screws (2 screws on the right and 2 screws on the left) in the rows of holes with vertically running mounting brackets near the front edges of the rack.
Hardware components are generally fastened to the rows of holes in the frame using so-called cage nuts (box nuts) and screws. Cage nuts are usually square-shaped nuts that are contained in a square cage made of sheet metal. The nut can be attached to a sheet by means of the cage, so that a nut thread can also be provided on thin sheets into which no thread can be cut. The cage of the nut is placed in a generally square hole in the row of holes. Through the holes formed in the mounting bracket of the hardware components to be mounted in the rack, screws are then inserted and into the cage nuts in the rows of holes in the rack

screwed, which fixes the hardware component to the row of holes in the rack. The cage of the mother can also be provided with lugs which can snap into the square hole in the row of holes in the rack, so that the cage and the nut do not have to be held separately during the Monday. For this purpose, the cage nut must be pressed together and inserted into the hole in the row of holes in the compressed state, whereupon the cage nut can be released and thereby snaps into the hole in the row of holes.
The fastening by means of cage nuts is small and does not offer any hold and guidance to the hardware component to be assembled before the hardware component is fastened using the screws. Furthermore, at least two people are required to assemble hardware components using cage nuts and screws. One person who holds the hardware component in the correct position before being fixed and a second person who fixes the hardware component in position with screws. In addition to the increased need for personnel, the cage nuts also have a high height when inserted into the row of holes
Potential for injury, as these have sharp edges and the fitter can easily cut himself when inserting or compressing the cage nuts. In addition to the screwdriver required to fasten the screws, additional tools are often required to insert the cage nut into the hole in the row of holes in the frame.
The present invention aims to avoid the aforementioned drawbacks.

To achieve this object, the fastening element according to the invention comprises a first plate with at least two bolt-shaped connecting elements starting from the first plate and a second plate with at least one recess, in particular two recesses for the bolt-shaped connecting elements, the at least one recess being designed such that the connecting elements can be inserted into the at least one recess, and wherein the bolt-shaped
Connecting elements in particular rigidly arranged on these, in the longitudinal direction of the connecting elements effective stop elements against which the second plate can be brought into contact when the connecting elements penetrate the recess of the second plate.
The fastening element according to the invention ensures a tool-free, time-saving, effective and harmless installation of hardware components to be installed in a rack with low personnel expenditure. The design according to the invention enables the guidance and temporary holding of hardware components to be installed before they are fixed in their end position, since the connecting elements of the fastening element protrude from the perforated strips of the frame and the holes of the fastening angle of the hardware component to be assembled need only be plugged onto the connecting elements, to be held in position. The presence of a second person who holds the hardware component in place during assembly can therefore be dispensed with. Furthermore, a fastening element according to the invention on both sides of the rack is sufficient to

two bolt-shaped connecting elements of the
Fastener both holes (to the right and left of the rack), to which the hardware component is to be fastened, are penetrated simultaneously.
Instead of two recesses in the second plate, a single elongated hole is also conceivable.
The distance between the bolt-shaped
Connecting elements corresponds to the distance between the two separate recesses or the elongated extension of the single recess of the second plate, so that the bolt-shaped connecting elements can penetrate the recesses at the same time.
The stop elements, in cooperation with the second plate adjacent to them, serve to hold the fastening element temporarily before the fastening nuts are screwed onto the row of holes, the row of holes being arranged or clamped at a close distance between the first plate and the second plate.
The fastening element according to the invention is preferably developed in such a way that the at least one recess is open towards the edge of the second plate, so that the connecting elements can be inserted into the at least one recess transversely to the longitudinal direction of the bolt.
Alternatively, the fastening element according to the invention is developed in such a way that the at least one recess is designed as a closed opening, preferably as a keyhole-like or pear-shaped opening

The fastening element according to the invention is preferably further developed such that the stop elements are each formed by a step resulting from a change in cross section of the connecting element.
The inventive method is advantageous
Fastening element further developed such that the stop elements are each formed by an annular thickening of the respective connecting element.
The fastening element according to the invention can in particular be further developed such that the stop elements are each formed by an annular end face of the connecting element formed by a cross-sectional reduction.
The stop elements ensure that the second plate is held in the desired position. The recess (es) of the second plate is or are placed on the connecting elements of the first plate, the second plate abutting and holding against the stop elements and thereby defining a gap between the first and second plates in which the row of holes is arranged , If the connecting elements are loaded by the weight of the hardware component when the hardware component is inserted, a clamping effect is also generated, which further increases the holding effect.

The fastening element according to the invention is preferably developed in such a way that the connecting elements are arranged at a distance from one height unit.
A height unit (HE) is a unit of measurement used for frame frames to describe the height of the hardware component to be installed. Hardware components with one height unit are referred to as 1U, devices with two height units as '’2U', etc. One height unit corresponds to e.g. 1¾ inches, i.e. 44.45 mm. Device housings that are dimensioned according to height units are intended for installation in standardized (e.g. 19-) racks. The typical height of a rack is 42U.
Due to the preferred distance of the connecting elements from a U, one fastening element on both sides of the rack is sufficient to install an IU hardware component, since through the at least two bolt-shaped connecting elements of the fastening element both holes (in each case on the right and left of the rack) to which the hardware component is connected fasten, be enforced at the same time.
Fastening elements with 4, 6, 8 (or a multiple of 2) connecting elements, which each correspond to a plurality of height units of the perforated strip of the rack, would also be conceivable, as a result of which it would be possible to fasten several hardware components in the rack with just one fastening element.
The inventive method is advantageous
Fastening element further developed such that the connecting elements have a first free end and

the stop element is arranged between the first free end and the first plate.
Such a design ensures that when the fastening nuts are screwed onto the free end of the connecting elements, the fastening nuts are pressed against the fastening bracket, the fastening bracket against the second plate and the second plate against the row of holes, as a result of which all elements, namely the fastening bracket, press the second Plate, the row of holes and the first plate are clamped together.
The fastening element according to the invention can alternatively be further developed such that the connecting elements have a first and a second free end and the stop elements are arranged at the second free end or between the second free end and the first plate.
The fastening element according to the invention is preferably developed in such a way that the connecting elements have a thread.
Threads attached to the connecting elements are particularly advantageous for the final fixing of the hardware component, since fastening nuts complementary to the thread can be used for fastening the hardware component, which further simplifies assembly.
The inventive method is advantageous

is trained. The dual function of the thread namely for mounting the fastening nuts and as a stop element - makes it possible to dispense with the additional formation of a separate stop element.
In addition, it can preferably be provided that screw nuts, in particular cap nuts, can also be screwed onto the free end of the thread.
The use of cap nuts enables an even more effective tool-free assembly, since compared to mounting with screws according to the prior art, no screwdriver is required to tighten the screw connection, but the cap nut can only be screwed on by hand.
Furthermore, it would be conceivable to equip the cap nut with a corrugated outside in order to increase the grip and thereby further facilitate assembly.
A second aspect of the invention relates to the use of the fastening element according to the invention for fastening a fastening bracket of a hardware component to a row of holes in a frame (rack).
The use of the fastening element according to the invention enables a tool-free, time-saving, effective and harmless installation of hardware components to be installed in a rack with low personnel expenditure.
Advantageously, the use according to the invention is further developed in such a way that the connecting elements with their free end first, together with the stop elements from _9 / 31_

are inserted through the holes of the row of holes at the back and the second plate is pushed into the gap between the row of holes and the stop elements, whereby the connecting elements are secured against falling out of the row of holes.
In the case of the present invention, by "from behind is meant from within the rack, i.e. that in the aforementioned case the connecting elements of the first plate are inserted from inside the rack through the row of holes in the rack until the connecting elements together with the stop elements are pushed forward, i.e. protrude from the row of holes towards the outside of the rack. The outside designates the side of the row of holes or the rack from which the mounting brackets of the hardware component are brought to the row of holes during assembly or from which the hardware component is inserted into the rack. The first plate can then be secured with the second plate, the second plate being pushed at the front between the row of holes and the stop elements.
The use according to the invention can in particular be further developed such that the
Mounting bracket of the hardware component holes are placed on the free ends of the connecting elements.
As a result, the hardware component is correctly positioned and held in the correct position until it is finally fixed in a next step. As already explained above, this guide provided by the connecting elements ensures that presence ______10 / 31_

The use according to the invention is preferably further developed in that screw nuts are also screwed onto the free ends of the connecting elements, as a result of which the first plate, the row of holes, the fastening angle of the hardware component and the second plate are clamped together.
This step serves the final fixation of the
Hardware component in the rack.
In an alternative manner, the use according to the invention is further developed in such a way that the connecting elements, together with the second free ends, advance
