[01] The invention relates to a track construction machine with a machine frame that can be moved on a track by rail carriages and an energy supply system connected to a number of drives, which is composed of an internal combustion engine and a hydraulic drive system having at least one hydraulic pump.
The internal combustion engine of a track construction machine runs in many cases, even during a longer interruption of a labor input at full power. This leads to high fuel consumption and increased maintenance.
The object of the present invention is now to provide a track construction machine of the type mentioned, with which an improvement of the energy balance required for the machine operation is possible.
[04] This object is achieved according to the invention with a track construction machine of the type mentioned by the following features: [05] a) the internal combustion engine is mechanically connected to an electric generator / motor unit by a drive shaft, [06] b) the generator / motor unit is through a drive device connected to the hydraulic pump, [07] c) a power storage is connected by an electrical supply line with the generator / motor unit and with the electrically actuated drives.
[08] This combination of features makes it possible to mainly supply various drives on the track-laying machine electrically. As far as hydraulic drives are required, the necessary hydraulic pumps can be powered by the powered by the power storage generator / motor unit. As a result, while avoiding the drawbacks already mentioned in the prior art, the shortcomings can also be found with a reduced-performance internal combustion engine.

[12] A track construction machine 1 is equipped with a machine frame 4 movable by rail carriages 2 on a track 3 and an energy supply system 6 connected to a number of different drives 5. This is composed of an internal combustion engine 7, a hydraulic pump 8 having hydraulic drive system 9 and two generator / motor units 10 together.

A power storage 20 is connected by an electrical supply line 21 with the generator / motor units 10, with power converters 12 and with the electrically actuated drives 5. The rail chassis 2 is associated with the power storage 20 in conjunction generator / motor unit 10 is assigned as a drive.
[17] During operation, the internal combustion engine 7 drives, via the transfer case 18, both motor / generator units 10, each with a nominal power of 150 KW. The internal combustion engine 7 is equipped with a freewheel (or clutch) 22 so that the track-laying machine 1 can also operate without an internal combustion engine 7. When the internal combustion engine 7 is started, the generator / motor units 10 act as generators which charge the current accumulator 20 with a charging power of 300 kW and / or supply the required current for the two generator / motor units 10 serving as travel drive in the transfer or operating mode. In addition, a maintenance of the hydraulic system pressure is ensured with the internal combustion engine 7 off by a hydraulic pump 8 is driven by a genera tor / motor unit 10. When activating hydraulic drives 5, their power supply is provided by the hydraulic pumps 8.
As an example, the lithium-ion polymer battery has an output of 200 kW / h and can be charged to 80% of the storage capacity within about 25 minutes by the generator / motor units 10 operated by the internal combustion engine 7. The system is designed so that the various electric drives 5 of ancillaries can be supplied by means of high voltage. Thus, a supply of the drives 5 is possible for a long time without the need to start the engine 7. The use of the internal combustion engine 7 during load operation can advantageously be limited to the labor input. When the power storage device 20 is full, it can also take over the power supply in some cases during work.
As an alternative to the example of a tamping machine shown here, of course all other known track-laying machines, such as, for example, a welding machine, can be operated by the energy supply system according to the invention.
