The associated additional burden of the round bale sheathing shell, which is already exposed due to the compaction pressure of the round bale considerable tensile stresses, brings with it the risk of overloading the shell and thus an insufficient cohesion of the round bale. The invention is therefore based on the object, a round baler in such a way that the finished round bales can be discharged without jeopardizing its outer shell of the press housing. Based on a round baler of the type described above, the invention solves the problem set by the fact that the one discharge opening for the coated straw bales limiting press roller of the ejection flap can be disengaged via a clutch from the drive. Since, according to this measure, the drive of the ejection opening bounding press roller of the ejection flap can be switched off via the clutch and due to this shutdown, this press roller is freely rotatable, the ejector flap of the press housing with this freely rotatable press roller on rolling out of the press housing round bales, if the ejector is opened. This means that only compressive forces can be exerted on the round bales on the freely rotatable press roller, resulting in no additional burden, but rather to a relief of the shell due to the radially outward pressure of the pressed straw on the shell. At least the otherwise existing risk of overloading the shell can be avoided and thus secured that the round bale is held together by the shell in its shape. If the clutch for the discharge opening limiting press roller is actuated in dependence on the opening angle of the ejection flap, so can in a simple Way the timely uncoupling of the ejection opening when opening the ejection flap limiting press roller can be ensured by the press roller drive.
