This invention relates to a machine for cutting plates.
In particular, the invention relates to a machine for cutting plates of the circular saw type, which has been especially designed and manufactured to allow the protection of the knife, but at the same time allows a high processing flexibility.
The following description refers to the use of a machine for cutting wood, but is in no way limited to these specific uses.
As is known, some wood cutting machines currently comprise a frame, a work surface disposed on the frame and having a slot, and a circular saw which can emerge from this work surface through the slot.

In general, machines of this type include a protective hood which is disposed over the knife so that an area underneath is left free to allow the workpiece to pass underneath. This hood is generally hydraulically connected to an exhaust to allow the chips and wood debris to be extracted by cutting the workpiece through the knife.
To cover the knife both in this reference position and in the inclined position, these protective covers can be quite bulky.
Therefore, there are hoods that have a side removable portion so that this side portion is not used when the knife is in the reference position (i.e., perpendicular to the work surface) so that there are limited dimensions. In contrast, when the knife is inclined, this side portion is coupled with the hood.
The knives of the prior art machines may be inclined to the reference position on both sides. The side portion should therefore be used if necessary on one side or the other side of the hood according to the inclination of the knife for the angle cut to be performed. To protect the knife, there are therefore hoods with side protection sections on both sides, which are very bulky and also visually unappealing.
Alternatively, there are hoods with a removable side section, which can be mounted on one side or the other side of the hood if necessary. However, this solution provides for slowdowns in production and machine downtime.
In view of this, it is therefore the object of this invention to propose a machine provided with a hood which can automatically adapt to the different pitches of the trade.
Specific subject of this invention is therefore a machine for cutting a plate, in particular plates of wood, plastic and the like, comprising a work surface on which a cutting line is identified, a saw unit comprising a circular blade configured to extend from the working surface exit the cutting line when activated, the circular blade being able to assume a reference position in which it is perpendicular to the working surface, a first angular cutting position in which it is inclined to a first side of the circular blade by a variable angle, and a second angular cutting position in which it is inclined by a variable angle to a second side of the circular blade opposite to the first side, a protective aggregate comprising a protective hood to protect the circular blade of the sawing aggregate, said protective hood being so dimensioned in that it has a volume in order to restrict only the volume z u which identifies the circular blade rotating from the reference position to either the first or second angular cutting position, the machine being characterized by comprising drive means for displacing the protective unit perpendicular to the cutting line so as to adopt a first protection configuration; wherein the guard is capable of containing the circular blade when in the reference position or in the first angular position, and a second protection configuration in which the guard is capable of containing the circular blade when in contact therewith the reference position or in the second angular position.

With reference to Figures 1 to 3, a machine 1 according to the invention for cutting plates P is shown.
The machine 1 comprises a frame 2, a work surface 3, a saw unit 4, a protection unit 5 and a drive 6.
This work surface 3 is arranged on the frame 2 and has a cutting line 31, along which a slot is provided (which is not shown in the figures). About the work surface 3 to be cut plates P are guided or moved.
The saw unit 4 comprises a circular blade 41 which is designed to emerge from the slot. The circular blade 41, when extended, d. H. is outside the slot and thus is ready for the cut, able to assume a reference position in which it is perpendicular to the work surface 3, a first angular cutting position in which it is inclined to a first side of the circular blade 41 by a variable angle and a second angular cutting position in which it is inclined by a variable angle to a second side of the circular blade 41 opposite to the first side.
This saw unit 4 is equipped with suitable means of movement (not shown in the figures) to move it from the extended position exiting the slot to the retracted position and vice versa, as well as to incline it as described above , as well as with motor means (not shown in the figures) to operate it for cutting the plate P.
The protection unit 5 comprises a protective hood 51, comprising a main portion 52 having a capacity suitable to cover the circular blade 41 when it is in the reference position or disposed vertically, and another portion 53 connected to the main portion 52 is possibly releasably connected and has a capacity and a size suitable to cover the knife 41 when it is in the first or the second angular cutting position.
The capacity of the guard 51 is designed to contain the volume that the circular knife 41 would occupy when rotated from the reference position to either the first or second angular cutting position.
This protection unit 5 also includes a
Mounting structure 54 consisting of three elements 54 ', 54 "and 54"', which are hinged together. This drive 6 is able to move the protective unit 5 stiff at right angles to the cutting line, d. H. along the arrow A, so that it assumes a first protection configuration in which the hood 5 is able to contain the circular blade 41 when in the reference position or in the first angular position, and a second protection configuration in which the hood 51 is capable of containing the circular blade 41 when it is in the reference position or in the second angular position.
The operation of the above-described disk cutting machine 1 is as follows.
Referring to Figs. 2 and 3, the protective cover 51 is in the first protection configuration when cutting with the circular blade 41 of the saw unit 4 in the reference position or in the first angular cutting position. In this way, the protective cover 51 can cover the circular blade 41 at any inclination of the first angular position. If angular cuts have to be made at an angle of the second angular cutting position, the drive 6 is activated and displaces (see FIGS. 4 and 5) the protective unit 5 in a spatial interval d, so that the inclination of the circular blade 41 to the other side is made possible. In this way, the protective cover 51 can cover the circular blade 41 at any inclination of the second angular position.
An advantage of this invention is to allow the use of a guard of reduced dimensions, which can be adapted to any inclination of the circular blade of the saw.
Another advantage of this invention relates to the fact that the drive between the protective unit and the frame or the working surface of the machine for cutting plates is arranged, so that the transport of electric and hydraulic cables is avoided and a simple and linear machine design without additional dimensions .
