The invention relates to an electronic printing device in the manner of a hand stamp, comprising a housing in which an electronic cartridge ("Cartridge") is accommodated, with an electronic control unit assigned to the print image preset, and whose lower print head is set up the open bottom of the housing on a base, over which the housing is moved to produce a printed image.
Handstamps, in particular self-inking dies, have proven themselves many times in the past. However, there has recently been a development from the common hand stamps towards electronic or digital hand-held printing devices, which can be produced with these electronic printing devices variable print images, especially reproductions of photos, apart from text images. It has also been proposed to connect the electronic hand stamp with a computer or a digital camera, etc., to produce images (including possibly text images) and then load into a memory of the electronic stamp, see. For example, US 6,991,332 Bl. In these electronic hand stamps and other comparable digital hand stamps a displaceable in a frame print head is provided to print the respective image on the given pad - with stationary held stamp housing. However, this requires a relatively complex motion control for the print head.
On the other hand, such electronic or digital hand stamps have already been proposed in which the print head is fixedly arranged in the housing; For example, WO 97/17206 A discloses, on the one hand, embodiments of electronic hand stamps with a movable print head and, on the other hand, those with a printhead fixedly arranged in the housing. In the case of a fixed printhead, if the stamp is held stationary on the substrate to be printed, the printed image naturally depends on the size of the opening on the underside of the stamp housing. Here, however, it has also been proposed to move the electronic hand stamp during the printing process on the pad so as to be able to print larger images compared to the actual printing part of the print head on the pad. In this case, the printhead can only handle part of the [102012/50252

Take the area of the opening at the bottom of the electronic hand stamp.
As a rule, ink jet printers are used in these electronic hand stamps, which are controlled in a conventional manner by an electronic control unit so as to preselect and print the respective print image which is retrieved from a memory. The technology for this essentially corresponds to that used in conventional desktop ink-jet printers, where the desired large print images (including texts) are generated over a larger area compared to the actual print head, and wherein a relative movement between the print head and printing substrate (paper). In the case of the electronic hand stamp printing devices, the backing, e.g. a sheet of paper, an envelope, etc., on a table, and the printing operation is produced by means of the electronic hand stamp in the manner described above by placing the stamp on the pad and optionally moving the hand stamp on this pad. In this case, a fixed distance between the print head and the pad, for example, in the order of 3mm, is generally followed, this distance is relatively low. On the other hand, the printhead, with its lower-side nozzles, is relatively susceptible to and sensitive to mechanical influences, soiling and damage, the aforementioned small spacing increasing this problem of possible soiling and mechanical damage to the printhead.
Handstamping, e.g. Selbstfärbestempel, forth it is now known to put on the open bottom of the stamp housing a plastic cap when the stamp is not used, and remove this cap when using the stamp. However, this separate cap is relatively cumbersome to handle, and in practice this often results in the cap no longer being seated once a punch has been put into operation.
The invention now seeks to remedy this situation and an electronic printing device in the manner of a hand stamp, hereinafter also abbreviated "electronic hand stamp". mentioned, with a 3 nem adequate protection for the printhead propose / the invention makes use of the fact that the printhead in an electronic hand stamp as mentioned may also be smaller than the surface of the bottom of the stamp housing, especially if the electronic hand stamp during printing on the document to be printed is moved manually.
To achieve the above object, the invention accordingly provides an electronic printing device of the type mentioned above, characterized in that on the underside of the housing a sliding cover is arranged between a closing or rest position, in which it covers the lower printhead of the cartridge, and an open or print position in which the lower printhead of the cartridge is exposed, is slidably disposed on the housing.
In the case of the present electronic pressure device or electronic hand stamp, a sliding cover is mounted on the underside of the housing, which is arranged at least substantially captive on the housing and which may be smaller than the surface of the underside of the housing. This slide cover is normally held in a closed position in which the printing device is out of operation and in which it covers and protects the print head; however, if the electronic hand stamp is to be used, the sliding cover can be moved from this closed position to an open position in which the printhead is exposed to produce the desired impression on a base.
At least at the two end positions (closed position, open position), the sliding cover should not protrude beyond the underside of the housing so as to enable the electronic hand stamp to be set up on a base in both positions. On the other hand, the sliding movement of the sliding cover no electronic parts of the hand stamp on the bottom, and in particular not the printhead or its nozzles, endanger, Accordingly, it is advantageous if the sliding cover in the housing laterally provided control scenes, in which he engages with guide pin , is guided. It is also particularly advantageous if the control slats have downward and upward slotted sections, wherein the sliding cover 4 at least with a transverse to the sliding direction front edge region which faces away from the open position when moving from the closed position initially downwards and in the direction of open position and Finally, back up into the final open position is feasible. In particular, it is advantageous here if two control cams arranged one behind the other are provided on each side of the housing, of which one, in the region of the open position, the rear control link extends straight and parallel to the housing bottom, while the other, located in the closed position, front Control link has two at the ends of a lower central portion via oblique sections subsequent higher lying end portions.
In order to provide a special protection for the print head, it has also proven to be favorable when the sliding cover has its own print head cover insert, preferably from over the other sliding cover softer material. The cover insert may simply have the shape of a flat cap or trough. In the closed position, this cap or pan picks up the printhead.
On the other hand, if the printhead is designed as an inkjet printer, it is also favorable if the sliding cover has a separate wiper lip insert for wiping the printhead when the sliding cover is moved into the open position. This wiper lip insert is preferably made of a comparatively soft material, and it is preferably deflected when moving the sliding cover by resting on the print head from its vertical rest position. It is further provided according to a particularly preferred embodiment, that the wiper lip insert on its freely projecting upper side at the front edge remote from the open position has an exemption, wherein the actual pressure or nozzle portion of the print head when moving the sliding cover in the closed position to avoid dehydration remains uncleaned.
In the interest of ease of manufacture, it is further favorable if the wiper lip insert made of the same material as the 5th
Printhead cover insert is made. For ease of handling of the electronic hand stamp, moreover, it can be provided that the sliding cover in the open position actuates a main printhead switch or on-off switch.
In the case of creating an impression which is larger than the print head, or by moving the electronic hand stamp on the substrate to be printed, it is further known to provide position sensors on the underside of the electronic hand stamp, so as to determine the respective position or movement of the electronic hand stamp to capture. In this case, it is further advantageous if it allows sliding lids to pass through openings for the passage of radiation from position sensors, e.g. Laser sensors. It is also favorable if the sliding cover comprises cover tabs which, in their closed position, comprise position sensors, e.g. Laser sensors, cover.
The invention will be explained below with reference to preferred embodiments, to which it should not be limited, with reference to the drawings. In detail in the drawing:

Fig. 2 shows an embodiment with a modified sliding cover.
1, 2 and 3, an electronic printing device 1, short electronic hand stamp 1 / in side view, bottom view and shown in longitudinal section, wherein a mounted on the bottom 2 'of the lower side open housing 2 sliding cover 3 in the closing or at rest. In this closed position of the sliding cover 3 is a printing unit cartridge 4, which is fixedly arranged in the interior of the housing 2, or more precisely its print head 5 (see also Fig. 6) covered down and thus protected from contamination and damage.
According to FIG. 3, inside the housing 2, u.a. a battery or a rechargeable battery 6, a printed circuit board 7 for the control of the cartridge or cartridge 4, which also contains a memory and is to be designated as an electronic control unit 7, and a circuit board 8 for position sensors 9 provided on the underside 2 'of the housing , 10, 11, 12, cf. in particular Fig. 2 and Fig. 6. Furthermore, the housing 2 on the upper side by means of a joint 13, a pivot cover 14 is articulated; this swivel cover 14 may be provided on the upper side with control switches 16 and optionally also with a display 15 in order to reproduce the respective printed image if desired.
As can be seen further from FIGS. 2 and 6 and in particular also from FIG. 11, the sliding cover 3 has two openings 17, 18 in its right front region 3 ', as shown in the drawing, through which in the open position (FIG 6), the position sensors 11, 12 are accessible, so as to detect the respective position of the electronic hand stamp 1 in the open position, when moving the electronic hand stamp 1 over a substrate to be printed. In this case, the position sensors 9-10 and 11-12 have a width spacing Y and the position sensors 9-11 and 10-12 a longitudinal distance X, respectively.
In Fig. 3, the opening direction of the pivot cover 14 is further indicated by an arrow 19. When this pivot lid 14 is unfolded, i. can be opened, e.g. the battery 6 or the 8th
Printer cartridge 4 are exchanged.
According to FIG. 11, the sliding cover 3 has a base plate 20 and lateral cheeks 21, 22. On the lateral cheeks 21, 22 20 inner guide pins 23, 24 are formed at different heights or distances from the base plate (in Fig. 11, only the guide pins 23, 24 can be seen on one cheek 21, but the other cheek 22 has corresponding , mirror-image guide pins on); with these guide pin engages the sliding cover 3 in laterally inside the housing 2 provided control slots 25, 26, see. in particular Fig. 8, but also Fig. 1 and Fig. 5. As shown in the drawing right or front control link 25 (of course, on both longitudinal sides of the housing 2 mirror-image such control slots 25 and 26 provided) has two higher end portions 27th , 28 and a lower central portion 29, which merges via inclined portions 30, 31 in the end portions 27, 28, which define the closed position (end portion 27) and open position (end portion 28) of the sliding cover 3. The other, lower-lying control scenes 26, which cooperate with the guide pin 24, are straight, horizontal control scenes 26, wherein the left as shown in FIG. 3, the rear portion of the sliding cover 3 is linearly reciprocated back and forth, as in particular can be seen from Figs. 12 to 15.
From Fig. 8 is further a (end) switch 32 can be seen, which forms a main or power switch for the digital or electronic hand stamp 1 and its print head 5, and which is actuated when the sliding cover 3 in its open position shown in FIG 5 has arrived.
The sliding lid 3 is suitably made of a comparatively hard plastic such as ABS. In the base plate 20 of the sliding cover 3, however, two inserts made of a softer plastic material are attached, namely a printhead cover insert 33 and a wiper lip insert 34. As a material for these inserts 33, 34, for example, a TPE with about 55 to 60 Shore A can be used , Although it is possible for these inserts 33, 34 different materials
9 is preferably one and the same material used for these inserts 33, 34.
As further shown in Fig. 11, the print head Ab-cover insert 33 in the form of a flat cap or trough 35 is executed. The wiper lip insert 34 has an exemption 36 on its right, as shown in the drawing in the drawing, the front edge, whose function will be explained in more detail with reference to FIGS. 9 and 15 in particular.
The two inserts 33, 34 are anchored in the base plate 20 of the sliding cover 3 via corresponding holes, as can be seen in particular from FIG. 8 (cf., but also FIGS. 2 and 6). In the closed position of the sliding cover 3 according to FIGS. 1 to 3, but also according to FIGS. 4 and 12, the sliding cap 3 with the print head cover insert 33 covers the print head 5 of the cartridge 4 in order to protect it against soiling or damage. In this closed position of the sliding cap 3, the latter lies in a plane X-X with the lower edge of the housing, as can be seen in particular from FIG. 3.
The wiper lip insert 34 is in this closed position in its neutral, vertical position, cf. FIG. 12 and FIG. 4.
Now, if the production of a printed image on a (not shown) pad using the present electronic hand stamp 1 is desired, the sliding lid 3 is moved to the rear or as shown in the drawing from right to left, s. Arrows 40 in Fig. 10 and 13. In this case, the sliding cover 3 moves with its right, front edge region initially slightly obliquely downward, corresponding to the inclined portions 30 of the control blocks 25, and then linearly to the rear or left. In this way, due to said downward movement, the printhead cover insert 33 is lifted downwardly from the printhead 5, but the wiper lip insert 34 wipes its rear left edge over the nozzle area of the printhead 5 to clean it. This is made possible by the fact that the wiper lip insert 34, according to the friction on the printhead underside as shown in FIG
10 of the drawing in a clockwise direction, to the right, deflected or bent, as shown in FIGS. 10 and 13 can be seen.
In the rearmost, leftmost position of the sliding cover 3, the front, right edge region is moved upwards again by means of the oblique sections 31, namely around the pins 23 in the end position, i. in the end portions 28, to convict. Thus, the open position or printing position of the sliding cover 3 is reached, as illustrated in Fig. 5 and 7 and in Fig. 14. In this open position of the sliding cover 3, the desired impressions can be made on the respective pad in a conventional manner with the help of the cartridge 4 and the printhead 5.
When the printing operation is completed, the slide cover 3 is again moved to the right as shown in the drawing. moved forward, in the closed position shown in FIG. 1, 3 and 12, wherein during this movement according to the arrows 41 in Fig. 8 and 15 of the wiper lip insert 34 is now in the counterclockwise direction, ie to the left, deflected, as shown in Fig. 9 and 15 is recognizable. During this closing movement in accordance with arrow 41 (see also FIG. 8), the right-hand edge region of the sliding cover 3 is initially moved downwards again, in accordance with the control of the guide pins 23 in the oblique sections 31, thus the sliding cover 3 or the covering insert 33 to move past the bottom of the printhead 5. However, during this closing movement, the wiper lip insert 34 does not wipe the print head 5 of the cartridge 4 as a result of its release 36, but lies with its edge regions on both sides of the release 36 (see FIG. 11) on the lateral boundaries or frame parts, e.g. 42 in FIG. 6, but leaves the actual printing unit 43 free. Accordingly, no "wipe" occurs during this closing movement. the nozzles of the print head 5 and the actual printing unit 43, so that the small droplets remain on the nozzles and can dry. These dried-up droplets are wiped in the next printing operation, when opening the sliding cover 3 as shown in FIGS. 10 and 13, as described above.
Finally, at the end of the closing movement according to arrow 41, the closed position or rest 11 illustrated in FIG
Position of the sliding cover 3 reached.
FIG. 16 shows a modified electronic handstamp 1 compared to FIGS. 1 and 5 and 8, which in turn has a sliding cover 3 which is displaceable on the underside of the stamp housing but in which a folding or pivoting cover 14 'surrounds a lower joint 13 'is articulated in the region of the bottom 2' of the housing 2. In this hinged lid 14 ', for example, the battery 6 may be included. Furthermore, a top-side display 16, which is now provided on the top side of the housing 2 and not the cover 14, is also recognizable from FIG. 16, and actuation keys 15 are further illustrated in FIG. 16.
The control of the sliding movement of the sliding cover 3 by means of control blocks can be similar to that explained above with reference to FIGS. 1 to 15 realized.
17A and 17B show an embodiment of the printing apparatus 1 with a modified sliding cover 3, which has on its front side 3 '(see Fig. 17A) two cover tabs or tongues 9A, 10A which are shown in Fig. 17a Open position of the sliding cover 3 are functionally, but in the closed position shown in Fig. 17B, the position sensors cover 9, 10 and thus protect in this rest position against contamination or damage.
